Robbie Williams Falls Off Stage, Breaks Fan's Arm & Doesn't Apologise?

Robbie Williams reportedly did not apologise to a fan whose arm he broke whilst performing in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne last month. The 40-year-old fell off stage at Metro Radio Arena and landed on the arm of a 52-year-old woman stood by the railings at the front of the concert.

Robbie Williams Frank Sinatra Jake Bugg Lady GaGa

While one charismatic, sweet-talking solo singer has marked a landmark for British music by recording the country’s 1000th number one, the man who make the mould for such a singer kicked the whole thing off with the UK’s very first.

Robbie Williams Swings Both WaysRobbie Williams Is No.1 On The Albums Chart

Robbie Williams’ big band album Swings Both Ways topped the charts, coincidentally becoming the UK’s 1000th number one album, but it was the king of charm, Frank Sinatra, who had the first number one, with Songs For Swingin' Lovers, in 1956. The connection between the first and the last make for a palpable sense of symmetry between the pair.

Robbie Williams - Live at the Etihad Stadium, Manchester June 6th 2013

Crushed on a tram between middle aged women with recently acquired leathery tans and a group of 'lads' bantering about their adoration for Olly Murs to anyone who awkwardly casts an eye in their direction is my first indication of what attending a stadium pop concert of this scale is going to be like. This, by the way, is the first night of his three night residence in Manchester and was the last to go on sale which means these people aren't even the die-hards. God. Help. Us.

Robbie Williams - Live Review

It's a warm night and after that experience we head straight for the bar like any self-respecting individual would. While there, Olly Murs takes to the stage; you can hear him from outside the arena so there's really no need to rush because, let's face it, we all know his shtick by now and it goes something like: wear bowler hat, be cheeky, and copy Robbie. Yep. He plays through his hits 'Heart Skips A Beat' and 'Troublemaker' and a host of other songs that are just as friendly and soulless. He has a good voice and he's designed perfectly for this environment; he knows when to let the audience sing for him and when to crank out his dance moves and point suggestively at his bum which is, you know, lovely, but he's just not actually very entertaining. I'm all for few good crotch thrusts, and a camera that shows audience members dancing like idiots is obviously hilarious, but Olly, mate, it's a big stage and a bit of presence never hurt anyone. You can't just shout Robbie's name and think you've tricked us into thinking you're him. You're not.

Unlike Rihanna, bang on 9 o'clock Mr Robbie Williams is flying down a zip wire to rapturous applause; it's not the biggest or boldest entrance and is actually fairly low key for a star of his calibre, but he looks effortlessly cool as he poses mid-air in his spangly tailed jacket and studded shoes. As soon as he hits the ground and shouts, "Manchester, are you ready to let me entertain you?" a few times he's off into one of his biggest hits. When you can feel the sturdy structure of a football stadium shake beneath you as over 50,000 people sing and jump in euphoria you know something special is occurring.

Robbie Williams Kicks Back At Liam Gallagher Comments; Are We In The 90's Again?

Robbie Williams Liam Gallagher

You could have been forgiven for thinking we'd gone back in time to the nineties earlier this week, when Liam Gallagher unleashed a scathing attack on singer Robbie Williams for, well, being Robbie Williams. And the retro feud looks as though it'll go on even longer too, because Robbie has retaliated to the monobrowed Mancunian with a few choice words of his own, which will invariably provoke a return from Liam, and so on until they both realise no one cares.

Robbie played four nights back-to-back at Manchester City's Etihad Stadium early this week, a move that provoked a jealous reaction from Gallagher - a lifelong Manchester City fan and, now that Oasis have split, someone who will never be able to pull stadium-filling crowd. The Beady Eye frontman called Robbie a “f***ing fat f***ing idiot” for performing to four huge sold-out crowds; the actions of an obvious idiot.

“The interviews are better than the records at the minute. I really enjoy the interviews. Liam is like an episode of Star Stories,” Robbie said recently in retaliation, before going on to slate some of the songs on the new Beady Eye album BE, saying: “The production is really good. There are a couple of tunes that would have been f***ing amazing if they had a chorus."

Dizzee Rascal: New Album 'The Fifth' Announced

Famous for wearing a cardboard shark head in the crazy video for hit track 'Bonkers', Dizzee Rascal shows he's fond of the aquatic theme, analogising his journey on Radio 1: "If my last record was dipping my foot into the swimming pool of happiness, this one is fully going for a swim - backstroke, butterfly, in every way. not just doggie-paddle."

Nick Grimshaw Gets Car Clamped To End A Rough Week In Radio

Nick Grimshaw Robbie Williams

Nick Grimshaw didn't need this. Just days after being on the receiving end of one of Robbie Williams rants at the Sony Awards, the Radio One DJ woke up on Wednesday morning to discover his swanky car had been clamped. The 28-year-old was determined not to let the bad luck get him down and posed happily with his vehicle and a clamping document.

According to the Daily Mail, the cost of the removal of the clamp is £70.00 though Grimshaw has probably also received a parking fine of £80.00. It's probably safe to assume the presenter won't struggle to the pay off the fine, though it's another slice of bad luck in a terrible week for the DJ. On Monday, Robbie Williams fumed to the Sony Awards audience about Radio One's refusal to play his chart topping track Candy last year, singling out Grimshaw for particular scorn. "I did the Brits and started singing, 'Hey-ho, here we go' to a bunch of industry people and they were all just like, "F*** off, you're fat and you're old. And Radio 1 don't play you no more - you're fat and you're old"," adding, "Isn't that right Nick, you b******?"

Despite the rant, Grimshaw appeared to take things in his stride and later told The Sun, "I think he was so funny. I love him and he's really cool. He should have his own radio show. I'd have him on every morning."

Robbie Williams, Nick Grimshaw In Bust-Up At Sony Radio Academy Awards

Robbie Williams Nick Grimshaw

There’ve been a few dissenting voices about BBC Radio One’s aggressive move to attract younger audiences, but few have been as vocal as Robbie Williams last night, who took his opportunity while on stage at the Sony Radio Academy Awards to lay into Nick Grimshaw and the station in general.

Williams is aggrieved that Radio One have allegedly stopped playing his music because they deemed the 39 year-old too old for their audiences, and he took his frustrations out last night, according to The Sun. “I did the Brits and started singing, ‘Hey-ho, here we go’ to a bunch of industry people and they were all just like, ‘F*** off, you’re fat and you’re old. And Radio 1 don’t play you no more – you’re fat and you’re old’ Williams ranted during his set. He then looked at Grimshaw and said: “Isn’t that right Nick, you b******?”

Continuing his tirade later on in the set after performing his single ‘Candy,’ he said “That’s Candy. How four-year-old do you want it, Radio 1?” before getting right up close to Radio One’s breakfast show host and putting a piece of chewing gum in his mouth, commenting: “Those aren’t drugs by the way. Nah, Radio 1’s not something that keeps me up at night, not at all. They’ve let me back on anyway with DIZZEE RASCAL, so thanks for that, Radio 1.” Bitter much?

Robbie Williams And Dizzie Rascal In Unlikely Collaboration

Robbie Williams

Wonder what the odds were on this; Dizzee Rascal and Robbie Williams were seen shooting a video together for Goin’ Crazy, confirming that the British pair are collaborating.

The Sun had the snaps, and words. Robbie, who was fresh from cruising around on a mod-styled disability scooter, said: “I was expecting Dizzee to come round to my place in LA for an hour. He got round at 6pm, we chatted for hours and he left at 6am. Then he said he wanted the song to sound like Queen. It was a great night.” Robbie then joked, in his classic cheeky style: “I have never been so urban. When I heard Dizzee wanted me, I was like, ‘F*** yes!’ He only deals in bangers and life is getting shorter for me. Dizzee, who can be seen getting out of what can only be described as a spiky mini, said: “As soon as I heard Quadrophenia, I was signed up for the video idea. The mods and rockers idea is right up my street. Having Robbie involved has been good. When his name came up, I was excited about it. We went to his house to record it." It’s not often on these things you sit in the same studio any more. The pair, while not your classic couple, are both British icons in their own genres.

This summer marks an impressive ten-year anniversary since Boy In Da Corner – Dizzie’s progressive grime album - came out. He’ll be celebrating by playing at Glasto and supporting Muse.

Watch Out Posh! Robbie Williams Takes Fashion Label To Germany

Robbie Williams

Fresh from his attack on the BRIT Awards, Robbie Williams got out of Britain altogether this week, flying to Germany to launch his fashion label, Farrell, in Europe. Fellow 1990s pop-star Victoria Beckham - now one of the world's biggest designers - will no doubt tell Robbie that expansion is the key to a global fashion empire, and Williams seems to be making the right moves.

According to handbag.com, Williams was in Charlottenburg, Berlin, to see his collection hung on the rails at the upmarket KaDeWe department store. Donning a smart suit for the photo-call, the Take That man showed off his new slim-figure and even gave a photographers a closer look at his tailoring - red lining, nice! The collection, inspired by his grandfather Jack Farrell, is currently stocked in House of Fraser and Selfridges stores across the UK. Speaking at the British launch of the label last year, Robbie told journalists, "I''m into clothes but not necessarily fashion and I think this is reflected in the collection," adding, "I was inspired by the clothes that I've always worn and loved. I worked with a great team of experienced people who helped me to bring my ideas to life. I enjoyed choosing every detail - from the lining, to the buttons to the cut."

It's been a strange week for Robbie, who performed 'Candy' at the BRIT Awards at London's O2 Arena, though slammed the show in a hastily written song afterwards. "Well that Brits night was so f*cking boring... Coke in the bogs till seven in the morning. Look the wrong way and we end up brawling. Then I had a bit of beef with you-know-who. And I f*cked a few female stars or two."

NSFW: Robbie Williams' Scathing Attack On Dull Awards Night In New Song 'Brits 2013'

Robbie Williams

Looks as though we weren’t the only ones struggling to keep our eyes open during last weeks Brit Awards. Robbie Williams just posted a new song on his website that he’d written with Guy Chambers on the Saturday and recorded on the Sunday that definitely agrees with us. Not-so-subtly entitled ‘The Brits 2013,’ the song is a not-so-subtle attack on the boring awards ceremony that Williams had performed at just days earlier. Just as a side note here, we don’t remember Robbie doing very much to liven up this year’s Brits, himself, but perhaps he felt that should have been down to the younger contingent.

Robbie Williams

After all, Robbie’s knocking on 40 now and the heady days of the 1990s are behind him (Or at least, we hope they are, given that he’s just had his first baby with partner Aida). That hasn’t stopped him singing about them in his new song, possibly by means of some sort of instruction manual for young pop wannabes that are too under the thumb of their record label executives. At one point, Robbie even compares the awards night to a VD clinic, saying that only “pr*cks are in it.”

Will X Factor Execs Tempt Robbie Williams To Join Gary Barlow On Judging Panel?

Robbie Williams Gary Barlow Take That

Will Robbie Williams join Take That band mate Gary Barlow and hop onto the judging panel on X Factor? The Sun have reported that this could very well be the case, with the ‘Angels’ singer looking to join the TV talent show to spice things up a little bit. Known as the cheeky member of the boy band, Robbie’s apparently the top choice for being brought in to bring back the excitement that many felt was missing from last year’s series of the show.

A source told The Sun “This is the dream team. We have been looking at the show and thinking the unthinkable. Robbie is exactly the right person for the show — but we don’t want to lose Gary to get him. We want them both.” There’s just one problem though and it isn’t the fact that Gary and Robbie haven’t exactly always seen eye to eye. “Robbie’s people are saying he’s too busy to do the show.” Undeterred, the show’s sources said they’re not giving up on their dream judge just yet. “we worked around Gary when he first joined the panel,” the source explained, adding “he was touring with Take That and it was fine. We know Robbie loves the show and he and Gary have a great friendship and rivalry — there will be fireworks for sure.

Would the addition of another man on the panel spell the end for Louis Walsh? Producers are reportedly “relaxed” about having three men on the panel, with Nicole Scherzinger expected to take up the fourth spot. Watch this space!

Robbie Williams: 'Justin Bieber's In For A Hard Time'; Star Predicts Troubled Future

Robbie Williams Justin Bieber

There’s nothing like the sage voice of experience to stop your party in its tracks, and poor Justin Bieber must be quaking in his perfectly formed feet right now after having some sobering advice dished out to him by none other than sometime Take That man and ego at-large, Robbie Williams.

Williams of course quit Take That – then the biggest boy band in the world – in 1995 and embarked on a mad couple of years of drink, drugs and debauchery which some would argue he’s never really recovered from, in spite of repeated trips to rehab. Now 39 years-old, Williams speaks with the voice of the man whose seen and done it all, and he told The Sun that he can easily see young Biebs suffering the same pitfalls of fame as he himself did. “There is a list longer than my arm of f***-ups” Williams told the paper, before continuing a rather swear-heavy diatribe by adding “It’s inevitable that someone like Justin Bieber will hit a hard time. You hear about everybody going, ‘You’re sh**’. And you go ‘f***, I’m sh**, I’d better go and do something else’. And it gets to you.”

Bieber’s indiscretions have been creeping up in the past year or so, with bouts of dangerous driving, reports of fisticuffs with the paparazzi, alleged dope smoking and an on-off relationship with now believed to-be ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez all being clocked up. But he’s a long way off dancing at the side of the stage at Glastonbury with pupils like pins, we reckon, so lay off the doom-mongering eh, Robster?

Beyoncé Rumoured To Be Performing At This Years BRIT Awards

Beyonce Knowles Jay Z One Direction Robbie Williams Muse

Beyoncé Knowles will be one of the key headliners at next months BRIT Awards, it is believed, with an increasing amount of press building up behind the speculation.

The performance, which will be Mrs Jay Z's first performance in the United Kingdom since her 2011 headlining slot at Glastonbury, marking the beginning of what already looks like one hell of a hectic year for Knowles. Although no official statement has been issued commenting on whether or not Bey will in fact be performing, it is looking increasingly more likely that she will indeed be on the bill for the night.

The Destiny's Child beauty will be performing alongside Muse, One Direction, Robbie Williams and more, and will be her third high-profile performance in the space of a month - talk about a comeback! The singer is first scheduled to sing at President Barrack Obama's second inauguration on January 21, with her half-time show at the Super Bowl, an appearance that may see her being reunited with former bandmates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, in early February. She will also be releasing her fly-on-the-wall documentary, Life Is But a Dream, around this time too and then it's time to hit the studio again to press on with her upcoming fifth album. Phew! We're exhausted just thinking about it.

From The Super-Bowl To The Brit Awards? Will Beyoncé Perform In UK Next Month?

Beyonce Knowles Destiny's Child Jay Z One Direction Muse Robbie Williams

In the word of pop music, there is no property hotter than Beyoncé right now. Beyoncé doesn’t really even have to make any music to be the hottest property in pop. She just has to… be. Rumour has it, though that the Destinys Child singer might be making a little trip over to Blighty to perform at next month’s Brit Awards, according to the Guardian.

She’s not nominated for any awards or anything, but that wouldn’t stop her performance being the probable highlight of the Brit Awards. As far as coups go, this is pretty much the biggest one that the organisers of the Brits could possibly hope for. Unless they got Jay Z too. Anyone that watched Beyoncé’s Glastonbury Festival slot will testify to the might of her live performances. If it happens, she could well make these Brit Awards one to remember (though possibly never as memorable as the year that Jarvis Cocker waggled his posterior to the cameras during Michael Jackson’s performance).

Beyoncé hasn’t performed at the Brit awards since 2004. She’s soon due to perform at the Super Bowl and also at Barack Obama’s second presidential inauguration. The Brits will take place on February 20, 2013 at London’s O2 Arena. One Direction, Muse and Robbie Williams are also expected to perform.

Wait, Did The Rolling Stones Just Confirm A Brit Awards Performance?

Rolling Stones Muse One Direction Robbie Williams The XX

The Brit Awards 2013 nominations were announced on Thursday (January 10, 2013), being somewhat overshadowed by the Oscars stuff going on across the pond. We already know James Corden is back on-board as host, and he'll be joined by the likes of Muse, Robbie Williams, Mumford & Sons and One Direction, who all scored nods this week.

Forget all that though, because The Rolling Stones may be playing live. After scoring a nomination for Best Live Act, the legendary rockers hinted that they may well be on hand to rock the stage at the O2 Arena on February 20, 2013. Keith Richards said, "Onstage is where we belong. When I'm up there with Mick, Charlie and Ronnie, everything is rocking, so a big thanks to Brit fans and the Brits nom!" Though it's not confirmation exactly, there's a possible hint in there somewhere. His band-mate Mick Jagger said, "We all had such a blast. Everyone was at the top of their game and the hometown audiences at The O2 were just fantastic. It's great to be nominated... we'll see you soon." Organizers of the Brit Awards are always keen to get marquee acts to close the evening, and the Stones' seem at home at the O2 nowadays.

Others picking up nods during Thursday's announcement were Mercury winners Alt-J (3), Emili Sande (3) and Amy Winehouse, who was posthumously nominated for her Lioness record. One Direction will battle Mumford & Sons and The XX for Best Group.

Robbie Williams On One Direction: As Big As The Spice Girls?

Robbie Williams One Direction Harry Styles Taylor Swift

It's official: Robbie Williams loves One Direction. For a while we thought Robbie was just latching onto the success of the pop-scamps, but this glowing praise isn't the first time he's come out waxing lyrical about the X-Factor runners up.

And Robbie thinks they could be as big as British pop powerhouse, The Spice girls, who have been thrust into the limelight again recently following their performance at the Olympics closing ceremony. "They're quite a power in the way the Spice Girls were," reports The Sun newspaper. "The Spice Girls took over the world and won and I think the One Direction boys have a similar chemistry." What comes with success for a young, heterosexual popstar? Girls, and Mr Harry Styles has been dating 22-year-old country-pop singer Taylor Swift recently (if you believe the pictures showing them kissing) and Robbie Williams believes he may have taken on his mantle of babe-magnet. "He's a magnet like I've never seen before. I don't think Harry needs any tips from me," he added. "He's beguiling, and so are One Direction. I wasn't him when I was 18. That didn't happen to me."

Robbie previously said that he felt 'sorry' for Styles, recalling his own time in a boyband as youngster. "I feel a bit for Harry," Robbie told The Sun newspaper in 2012. "At his age I was in this lilywhite boyband, Take That. But I was meeting up with mates, jumping out of the tour bus and into a Transit van at motorway service stations all around the country."

How Can You Get To Christmas Number One, Like The Justice Collective?

Robbie Williams The X Factor Bob Geldof

With the Justice Collective taking the much-coveted (for some reason) Christmas number one spot in the UK singles chart at the weekend, it was another sharp rebuttal to the notion that the annual bunfight is exclusively won by x factor alumni.

Indeed, going back over the past nine charts since the show began in 2004, it’s managed to get the Christmas top spot on ‘only’ five of those nine occasions. Ok, so that’s still a fair few. Yet, what the last decade has shown us is that the ways to get the Christmas number one have become far more varied than simply ‘become a hugely well-known artist. Release a Christmas single.’ Charity, public protest, reality show success … we look at the ways that people have got to the festive top spot over the past decade.

Robbie Williams, David Beckham And John Cleese Among 150-Strong Shortlist To Feature On The New £10 Note

Robbie Williams John Cleese David Beckham Diana Princess Of Wales

Robbie Williams, David Beckham, Princess Diana, and a few people actually deserving of the honour, have all been included in a 150-strong shortlist of potential replacements for Charles Darwin on the back of the £10 note.

The Bank Of England has released a list of more than 150 great Britons that have been suggested by members of the public for the honour when the new notes are printed. Currently, the Bank of England £10 notes are Series E, but are due to be replaced with the new Series F notes next year, which means a change to the person on the back of the note too.

Whilst the thought of having someone like Becks or Robbie on the English currency may have caused a series of face-palms to occur up and down the country, fortunately it is looking as though someone of genuine historic significance may take the honour instead. Phew!

James Arthur Has The Promotional Budget But Could The Justice Collective Have The Christmas Number One?

The X Factor James Arthur Holly Johnson Sir Paul McCartney Robbie Williams Rebecca Ferguson

The race is on for the UK Christmas Number one, due to be announced on Sunday December 23, 2012.

It’s a battle of two charity singles this year: The x factor winner James Arthur is looking for a second week at number one with ‘Impossible’, the proceeds of which will go to help the charity Together For Short Lives (which helps sick children), whilst The Justice Collective are hoping for the number one slot with their cover of The Hollies’ ‘He Ain’t Heavy (He’s My Brother).’ The Justice Collective single is also a charitable concern, raising money to help the families of those affected by the Hillsborough Disaster with their legal fees.

Despite receiving far less airplay than Arthur, The Justice Collective – which features Holly Johnson, Sir Paul McCartney, Robbie Williams and Rebecca Ferguson, among many others – currently looks to be in the front-running for the title. The former Frankie Goes To Hollywood singer, Holly Johnson, is urging the public to go out and buy the single – not simply so that it can go to number one, but because it will help the families of the victims of the 1987 disaster.

Close Call: James Arthur ‘Impossible’ Inches Ahead In Race For Christmas No.1

The X Factor James Arthur Sir Paul McCartney Robbie Williams Paloma Faith Melanie C Rebecca Ferguson

Could James Arthur bag the 2012 Christmas Number One after all? Despite the bookies selecting The Justice Collective’s Hillsborough charity single as the likely candidate, it now looks as though James Arthur is now the favourite for the number one slot this year. His single ‘Impossible’ looks to be heading to the top of the chart, despite the huge support for The Justice Collective’s cover of The Hollies’ ‘He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother,’ which is raising money to help the families of those killed in the Hillsborough disaster with their legal fees.

James’ single is also raising money for charity. Proceeds from his single will go to Together For Short Lives, which debuted last week with sales of 490,000. The Managing Director of the Official Charts Company told STV “While James Arthur has an early lead over The Justice Collective after just two days of sales, it is exceptionally tight – especially with Christmas gift purchases likely to impact on both releases as the week progresses. It looks like being an extremely exciting race for this year’s Official Christmas Number One." So it’s not quite in the bag for The X Factor winner then, but he’s in the lead at the moment. Can he keep hold of his lead until the weekend? Or will the Justice Collective take over.

The Justice Collective features contributions from Sir Paul McCartney, Robbie Williams, Paloma Faith, Mel C and Rebecca Ferguson.

Robbie Williams Almost Doubles UK Dates With Four More Shows

Robbie Williams Olly Murs

It's not surprising really, that the man who held records for the quickest selling tour and biggest selling live album for a long time, has had to almost double the amount of dates during the UK leg of his European stadium tour for 2013. Due to enormous demand for tickets, he originally had 2 dates in Manchester, 1 in Glasgow and 2 in London, but has added an extra two dates in Manchester, another in Glasgow and another two more in London, reports the Telegraph.

The tour dates in full now look like this:

Etihad Stadium, Manchester - 18th June (NEW)
Etihad Stadium, Manchester - 19th June
Etihad Stadium, Manchester - 20th June
Etihad Stadium, Manchester - 22nd June (NEW)
Hampden Park National Stadium, Glasgow - 25th June
Hampden Park National Stadium, Glasgow - 26th June (NEW)
Wembley Stadium, London - 29th June
Wembley Stadium, London - 30th June
Wembley Stadium, London - 2nd July (NEW)

Olly Murs is supporting him and ticket prices start from around £60 and can soar to over £200 for VIP packages for the London dates. After leaving London, Robbie will then take his Take the Crown tour across Europe, including stops in the Netherlands, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Italy, Austria and Belgium, before ending off the whole shibang in Tallinn, Estonia. There are, miraculously, still tickets available although at a first glance it seems all the best tickets are gone- grab them while you can!

Olly Murs Signs A Fans Breast, Looks For A Girlfriend

Olly Murs Robbie Williams

Living up to his reputation as a cheeky chappy, Olly Murs has employed the age old tactic of signing a young fans breast. We're not sure why people insist on getting parts of their body signed. You wash, right?

Anway, all this boob-signing begs the question; why hasn't Murs got a girlfriend yet? Do people find him just too annoying to be with for more than 5 minutes? "I went on a couple of dates with a girl that went really well. But I'm still single as it's just that time of year when I'm really busy," is his excuse, as he explains his single status to The Sun. "We'll see what happens over Christmas. It's hard -- but I'm just really busy through work." Olly's relationship with Caroline Flack was considered by some to be romantic, but he dismissed that, saying that the pair were just friends. "We've never had any connection like that," he said, adding: "We're just really good mates. She's a lovely girl to be around and she's just brilliant. The only thing I worried about was that it was going to affect our relationship on camera."

Despite being unattached, Olly's doing well for himself. He nabbed the U.K number 1 this week with Troublemaker, and he's off to support Robbie Williams on a European stadium tour in 2013.

Robbie Williams' Renaissance, European Tour 2013

Robbie Williams Olly Murs

Robbie Williams' career ten years ago was almost unbeatable in the UK. He'd signed a record breaking contract with EMI for £80m and almost all his albums went double platinum. Now, after a slump from 2006 until 2011, Williams has returned with a number one single 'Candy' and another number one album Take the Crown, his tenth chart topping album.

This time around though his success isn't simply his own, with a wife and baby in tow, he's more than happy to share his winnings. And it's not just his family that are benefiting, 8 lucky fans received free tickets to next year's European tour. According to Gigwise, he left his Skype ID on his website and called 8 of the fans that added him.

His first tour in six years will see him traverse Europe including three dates in the UK, in London, Glasgow and Manchester. And he'll be supported by Olly Murs. They struck up a friendship when Robbie helped Olly out while the young singer was still competing in the X Factor.

Robbie Williams Shows More Love To One Direction; Could They Be As Big As The Spice Girls?

Robbie Williams One Direction Spice Girls Olly Murs

It's all Robbie Williams; as well as announcing his European stadium tour, with his pop lacky Ollie Murs picking up the support slack, he's further endorsed teen-icons One Direction, saying they could be as big as British giants, The Spice Girls, The Metro reports.

"You know, they're quite a power together, very much in the same way the Spice Girls were. The Spice Girls went and took on the world and won and I think the 1D boys have got a similar sort of chemistry," said Williams at The Soho Hotel, London while announcing his tour. "They're all good- looking lads, they're all great singers, and as a five they're a great power." Perhaps Robbie's indulging in youth, viewing 1D as a kind of modern Take That, as he was a young lad when he made it. So how is old(er) age treating the Angels singer as he hits 40? "I'm buzzing (for this tour)," he explains, "it's time to put my foot down and go 'This is what I do'. Pop stars cease to be pop stars at 40 and start being old people singing, don't they? I want to go and seal my place in pop history."

And talking about his recent night out with ladies' man Harry Styles, Robbie said:  'I don't think Harry needs any tips from me about women. He's a magnet like I've never seen before. I wasn't him when I was 18, that didn't happen to me. He's been tarred with the lucky stick hasn't he? He seems to be having a whale of a time.'

Robbie Williams To Be Joined By Olly Murs And… His Daughter?

Robbie Williams Olly Murs

The Robbie Williams renaissance is in full flow. The latest news to come out of the former Take That star’s camp is that he, supported by Olly Murs, is to embark on a European stadium Tour. Perhaps some unexpected news, though, is that he’ll also be joined by his daughter.

"Perhaps I will be a bit more calm,” he said in his press conference, according to Entertainmentwise. “She's a very, very calming presence. Already I feel that something cosmically has changed within me and I don't know what it is but I feel happier as a person and a bit more grounded as a person. That's happened naturally," he added. "She's coming with us, of course. It probably means I'll get more sleep because she's there, not less because she's there. She's rounding off my rough edges as the weeks progress in her life so far." Talking about his recent resurgence, straight back into the world of pop after a lengthy and sometimes controversial break, Robbie said, "I don't know how many times I will get given this opportunity... I want to go and seal my place in pop history."

Olly Murs will support Robbie on tour. The pair have been friends ever since Williams came onto 2009’s X-Factor to help Murs out with a few parts of his performance.

Big Week For Olly Murs Includes UK Number 1, Simon Cowell Endorsement And Robbie Williams Tour

Olly Murs Robbie Williams Simon Cowell

Could this be the best week in Olly Murs' career? He's managed to keep Girls Aloud off the top spot with their comeback single, Something New, which in all truth is nothing new, and in doing so, reached the #1 spot.

And that's not all; the cheeky popstar received a warm message of congratulations from Simon Cowell, who, ignoring the inner workings of Twitter by not @ing Murs, knew his message would get through anyway. "Hi Olly Murs," he tweeted. "Congratulations on your number one single today. You are a true star and a great guy. Proof success doesn't change you." Cowell was Olly's mentor back in 2009 when he was on The X-Factor, and what's more, he signed the Essex lad, so receives a cut of whatever he makes. Oh hang on a minute, maybe a tweet to his 5m followers had something to do with that... He did the same for One Direction when they reached Number 1 last week, telling them, "Massive congrats to the one d boys for having the number one single and album in the uk. Could not be happier for you."

Anyway, that's not where Murs' magical week stops, with Robbie Williams announcing that he will join him for his upcoming European stadium tour.

"It's Legacy Time": Robbie Williams On Tour

Robbie Williams Olly Murs

Robbie Williams has released the news of a European arena tour for 2013, with three dates in the UK before moving onto mainland Europe. He'll be bringing Olly Murs along with him for support, reports the Independent.

Robbie Williams last couple of albums have been pretty terrible. However, with his marriage, the birth of his daughter and the reunion of Take That, everything has taken a U-Turn in Robbie's life and his latest single 'Candy' shot to the top spot in the UK, as did the album Take the Crown. It's fitting, therefore, for him to embark on a tour of enormous magnitude to reflect and enhance the success he has already found this year.

"I'm buzzing. I'm ready to go. I haven't done a tour of this size since 2006. I believe that I'm at the place in my career where it's time to put my foot down and go 'This is what I do'. It's legacy time for me." He said, "I'm nearly 40, that's what I'm trying to say. I don't know how many times I will get given this opportunity... I want to go and seal my place in pop history... I've got a couple more (tours) left. I just want to put my stamp down... Say remember me."

The Queen Mistakes Robbie Williams For Pudsey's Trainer

Robbie Williams Alicia Keys Neil Diamond Kylie Minogue Andrea Bocelli

Having met and performed for her on more than one occasion and being one of biggest names in modern British pop music, Robbie Williams has admitted that HRH Queen Elizabeth II still has no clue who he is.

At one point, Robbie told the crowd at last night's triumphant comeback show at London's o2 Academy, during the most recent encounter with the Royal at the Royal Variety Performance this month where Robbie shared the stage with Alicia Keys, Neil Diamond, Kylie Minogue, Andrea Bocelli and Britain's Got Talent winners Ashleigh Butler and her dog Pudsey, the Queen met with the performers after the show and apparently thought that the former Take That star was Pudsey's trainer! He told the crowd: "At the Royal Variety Performance, in the line-up afterwards, we were shaking hands... and she thought I was Pudsey's trainer."

Robbie of course also made an appearance at this years Diamond Jubilee festivities that was organised by Take That head honcho and OBE recipient Gary Barlow, and even then the Queen failed to recognise him in the proceedings after the show admitting, "she thought I was a member of congress."

Sir Paul McCartney Joins Hillsborough Disaster Fundraising Single Effort

Sir Paul McCartney Robbie Williams

Sir Paul McCartney is the latest name to join those who are recording a special festive single in aid of the parents of the Hillsborough victims. 96 people died in 1989 when too many people were allowed into the Liverpool end of a Liverpool versus Nottingham Forest soccer match and, whilst for years the fans were given blame by the police, the parents of the deceased have spent almost quarter of a century fighting to exonerate them of blame.

With a report earlier this year agreeing with the families, they’re now hoping for a fresh inquiry into who was to blame for the tragic events, and the single release will seek to raise money for their past and future legal costs. McCartney joins an ensemble that already includes Robbie Williams and Liverpool folk-hero Gerry Marsden from Gerry & The Pacemakers.

Speaking to the BBC, one of the parents of the deceased, Margaret Aspinall, said "When I was listening to it, to be honest with you, it was sad because I just shut my eyes and I saw my son handing me the record. I thought, maybe he's handing me this new version and saying 'listen to this'." Aspinall also praised McCartney for joining the cause, explaining "He decided to do it and I think that's lovely because he's from Liverpool, he knows how Liverpool people work and he understands us.” The song – a cover of The Hollies ‘He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother’ – is widely tipped by the bookies to beat out the eventual winner of this year’s X Factor to take the Christmas No. 1.

Fit For A Queen? Royal Variety Features One Direction, David Walliams And Washing Machines

David Walliams One Direction Harry Styles Girls Aloud Katherine Jenkins Rod Stewart Robbie Williams Neil Diamond

It's that time of year again people. The Royal Variety Performance was taped on Monday evening (November 19, 2012) and featured a whole host of entertainment stars taking to the stage at London's Albert Hall in front of one very special guest. This year, the Queen witnessed performances from the likes of One Direction, Girls Aloud and Katherine Jenkins, reports the Daily Mirror.

Fresh from their stateside success, the 1D boys were back in London  to perform new single 'Little Things', though we're not sure how it went down with her majesty. David Walliams' skit afterwards probably confused her even more; the Little Britain star bounding on-stage in a wig and red cardigan while pretending to be a stalker. "I've got a washing machine and I named it One Direction. You make me so happy," he yelled in a high pitched voice. "Was your song What Makes You Beautiful written about me? I love you so much. Will you marry me?" The group turned down his proposal before he approached heartthrob Harry Styles to ask him to "take a photo" of him with the rest of the boys. Walliams, 41, hosted the evening with Amanda Holden also on-hand to introduce some of the acts.

Elsewhere, a reunited Girls Aloud took to the stage to perform 'The Promise' and Cheryl Cole spoke of meeting the Queen afterwards. "The Queen is so delicate. She has hair like Candy floss and tiny dancing style shoes, awww. Another highlight was Alicia Keys, such an incredibly talented and down to earth woman," she said. The 100th anniversary of the Royal Variety Performance will air on ITV on December 3, also featuring performances from Rod Stewart, Robbie Williams and Neil Diamond.

Robbie Williams: Jessie J's Career Will Last 18 Months, Tops

Robbie Williams Take That Jessie J Tom Jones Will.i.am The Script

Robbie Williams battled to the No.1 spot with his new album Take The Crown on Sunday (November 11, 2012), though the Take That man had a few choice word for his chart rivals. Speaking on a Dutch television show, the 'Angels' hit-maker fired a barb at chart-topper Jessie J.

Asked about the Do It Like A Dude star, Robbie said, “She’s not gonna last for very long, though, is she? She’s great, Jessie. I give her 18 months,” according to The Sun. It seems he isn’t a fan of her reality show The Voice either. He said, “I don’t watch it. Sometimes it’s very difficult to go on the ‘emotional journey with the contestants’. I’m exhausted with how many times I’m to go on the emotional journey with this person who had a hard luck story and then da, da, da, da, blah, blah…I’m sure I’d be a good judge but no, I’ve got a career.” Ouch. We’re pretty sure the remarks won’t go down too well with Jessie’s fellow judges Tom Jones, Will.i.am and the other bloke from The Script either.

Robbie is actually at No.1 in both the singles and albums chart this week ('Candy' and Take The Crown), a feat he managed in 2001 when his single 'Something Stupid' reached the top-spot at the same time as his covers album Swing When You’re Winning.

Robbie Williams Admits To Sleepless Nights Over New Album, Take The Crown

Robbie Williams

Once the golden boy of British pop, Robbie Williams had endured a strange few years. His latest offering, Take The Crown, featuring new single, Candy, has had some critics confused as to whether he was reclaiming it or relinquishing it: the crown. And that's what's had him up all night, reports RTE Ten.

"I'm more confident now that I'm No 1 but I've had some psoriasis-inducing worry about the album and about my place in pop culture and a few sleepless nights on the run-up to the release of this album," he explained to RTE Ten. "It's important to me that this album that I love and created gets embraced by a lot of people and it worries me that it might not because being successful is a lot of fun and getting to qualify for Europe with every album is intoxicating and win and I would like that to happen again."

Never away from the headlines, unless he's specifically hiding due to one of his strange escapades, Robbie's latest brush with controversy saw a number of charities peeved with him for 'hitting' an elderly lady in a music video. And recently, the star has been embroiled in controversy with Radio 1 - the BBC's flagship radio show, with the biggest listenership in the U.K, deem his music "irrelevant" to today's younger audience. Ouch. He probably won't be too hot with the O.A.P's either.

Robbie Williams Under Fire After Punching Pensioner In Video

Robbie Williams Graham Norton

Robbie Williams is in the dog house for punching a pensioner in the face. Well, sort of. In his video for new UK chart-topping video ‘Candy’, the 38 year-old singer is seen giving an old woman a punch.

Williams made light of the video in an interview with Graham Norton, according to The Sun. Norton asked Williams ''That's quite a shocking image isn't it?'' to which Robbie replied: ''It is, isn't it. They wanted me to kick a dog and I'm an animal lover, so I was just not having that.” Then he added "Then they said: 'Punch a pensioner' and I was like: 'Yeah, I'm in.'" He’ll never grow up.

National Pensioners Convention general secretary Dot Gibson commented on Williams’ words: ''Celebrities should think twice before making ageist comments which seem to imply that pensioners should be treated in a degrading way. 'Elder abuse is a serious issue and needs to be tackled rather than seen as a bit of a joke. We need to be uniting the generations, not suggesting that they are different. Pensioners are just young people who grew older.''

Dr Fox To Radio 1's Nick Grimshaw: Stop Being A Total Nob

Nick Grimshaw Neil Fox Robbie Williams One Direction

Dr Fox! Foxy! Remember him? Well, he's back and nastier than ever, blasting Nick Grimshaw for calling Robbie Williams "irrelevant" earlier this week. Grimshaw, who took over Chris Moyles' breakfast show on Radio 1, told 5 News that his station had deliberately omitted Robbie's new track Candy.

"I don't know if he's now for a Radio 1 audience. I've never listened to a Robbie Williams song, but I really like him.To 13 and 14-year-olds, he's not relevant - they've got One Direction. I liked Take That when I was little, but I'm not little anymore." Grimshaw had a fair point - most 13 and 14 year olds would take most X Factor winners over Robbie - though in a potential sign of how relevant Radio 1 are, Robbie's 'Candy' became his latest No.1 on Sunday. Without the help of Grimshaw's station, the single moved over 130,000 copies last week to storm the charts. Magic Breakfast presenter Neil Fox stuck the boot in on Tuesday morning, tweeting, "Brainless @grimmers @R1Breakfast claims @robbiewilliams is too old & irrelevant for today's teenagers! Some advice. Stop being a total nob." Though we'd never endorse Grimshaw as a beacon of new music, we're struggling to remember a time when Fox was considered particularly relevant either. Fox also told Radio Today, "I'm not the voice of youth but Radio 1 are crazy for saying they're not playing his (Robbie's) new song. He'll still be popular when One Direction have split up."

Grimshaw had previously taken up Radio 1's 10pm-midnight slot, once occupied by John Peel.

A Week Of Criticism And Congratulations For Robbie Williams

Robbie Williams Nick Grimshaw

Robbie Williams managed to hit the top spot in this week's singles charts, with his latest song 'Candy', but despite the week being obviously filled with celebrations for his first number one in eight years, he has also come under great criticism.

Radio 1 chose to elide 'Candy' from its playlists, deeming it 'irrelevant', according to Entertainmentwise. Nick Grimshaw agreed with the station, but also defended the singer. "To 13 and 14-year-olds he's not relevant... they've got One Direction. I liked Take That when I was little, but I'm not little anymore," he said. "I don't know if he's now for a Radio 1 audience. I've never listened to a Robbie Williams song but I really like him... I quite like the new song".

In contrast to this, the video for the single sees Robbie literally bashes away old age, as he punches a pensioner. The Telegraph have reported that the National Pensioners Convention (NPC) are not happy about the treatment of the elderly in the video. ''Celebrities should think twice before making ageist comments which seem to imply that pensioners should be treated in a degrading way." Said Dot Gibson, general secretary for the NPC. ''Elder abuse is a serious issue and needs to be tackled rather than seen as a bit of a joke. We need to be uniting the generations, not suggesting that they are different. Pensioners are just young people who grew older.'' Robbie's representative said that he was just playing a role and absolutely does not condone violence to the elderly.

Too Old To Be Relevant?: Nick Grimshaw On Robbie Williams

Nick Grimshaw Robbie Williams

Robbie Williams might be at number one in the UK Top 40 singles chart with ‘Candy’, but Radio One DJ Nick Grimshaw thinks the former Take That singer is too old to be relevant to young people any more. His comments come on the back of the news that ‘Candy’ was not deemed appropriate for BBC Radio One’s playlist.

5 News have reported that Nick said “I don't know if he's now for a Radio 1 audience. I've never listened to a Robbie Williams song but I really like him. To 13 and 14-year-olds he's not relevant... they've got One Direction. I liked Take That when I was little, but I'm not little anymore.” Today (November 5, 2012), though, Nick did play Robbie’s new song on his breakfast radio show and said “I quite like the new song” but he doesn’t seem to think that Williams is young enough to connect with the youth of today. Presumably it was all grown-up adults buying the many thousands of copies of ‘Candy’ that took it to number one, making it the fastest selling single by a male artist this year, then?

Out Now: UK Album Releases (Nov 5), Robbie Williams, JLS, Aerosmith, Ne-Yo

Robbie Williams Calvin Harris Take That JLS Aerosmith Ne-Yo Carrie Underwood Sia

Calvin Harris will most likely be taking a peek at this week’s UK album’s releases (Monday November 5, 2012) and resigning himself to handing over the albums chart crown to Robbie Williams, come Sunday. In fact, it’s quite appropriate that Robbie has named his album Take The Crown, because that’s exactly what we think he’ll be doing this week.

Take The Crown is Robbie Williams’ ninth solo studio album and if the first single to be lifted from the album is anything to go by, it’s heading straight for the top of the charts. ‘Candy’ went in at number one yesterday, following an appearance from Williams on the UK’s X Factor show the previous weekend. The former Take That singer recently welcomed his first child into the world – what better way to celebrate than with a number one album?

Can Robbie Williams Take The Crown With Take The Crown?

Robbie Williams Take That

According to the NME, Robbie Williams' first single 'Candy' from his latest album 'Take the Crown' is currently leading the midweek charts, fending off Labrinth and Emile Sande, Wiley, and Swedish House Mafia.

With his first number one single in 8 years on the horizon, can his album also hit the top spot? His last solo album in 2009 Reality Killed the Video Star was his only album ever not to reach number one in the UK (although it did reach number one in Australia) so judging by his history, the odds in Robbie's favour. Speaking to Radio 1's Nick Grimshaw, Robbie said he was "going to stay in, look for UFOs and get fat and beardy again" if the single doesn't get to number one. He seems very confident about all his new music, telling the Sun "Success is addictive and I believe that I've got the album to feed my addiction for 18 months... And I am very excited about that."

Having described Take the Crown as his 'comeback' album, plus now happily married, father of one and following a life of sobriety, the singer's life seems truly back on track. Plus, he said he's 'ready, willing and able' to get back in the saddle with Take That again, "whenever they want [him] to do anything with them".

One Direction Set To Perform At The Royal Variety Performance 2012

One Direction Robbie Williams Girls Aloud Kylie Minogue Alicia Keys

One Direction fans, unite! Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne will be performing at The Royal Variety Performance 2012, which this year celebrates its 100th anniversary, Entertainmentwise reports.

We're not sure how much of a One Directioner The Queen is, and we can't see her pulling shapes to the boy band's biggest hits, but they're a polite bunch, and if nothing else, they'll charm the bloomers off the Monarchy. The show is not just varied by name; oldies Rod Stewart and Neil Diamond will join the young pop stars, as well as R&B giant, Alicia Keys, seasoned hitmakers Girls Aloud and Robbie Williams, and not to mention Kylie Minogue. The show will be hosted by David Walliams - which makes it a must-watch show in itself - and will, of course, also feature Britain's Got Talent winners Ashleigh and Pudsey. The show, while being a huge treat for the audience, is set to raise funds for the Entertainment Artistes' Benevolent Fund.

The Queen will be accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh for the 100th anniversary of the event at the Royal Albert Hall on 19 November, as they look upon the stars who are aiming to maintain the retirement and nursing home in Twickenham, London.

Robbie Williams Would Be Cheating On His Wife, If He Still Drank

Robbie Williams

Robbie Williams has admitted that he would have cheated on his wife, Ayda Field, by now, if he were still under the influence of Alcohol.

In a candid interview with The Metro, the former Take That star, who had his troubles with narcotics during his solo career, admitted, "It's a hundred times easier when you don't drink, and I don't drink. If I drank, we'd literally be f****d. If I drank, I could not keep it in my trousers at all." Robbie, who carved out the status of family favourite during his solo turn, which included the smash hit Angels, made sure to disgust most people by saying "You know like on anniversaries women expect you to get them flowers and things?" Robbie queried, "I think every f*****g night you haven't stuck your c**k in someone else, you should be given a gold ring" Now, whilst it seems obvious to nearly everyone that you shouldn't be rewarded for being bad, Robbie has managed it throughout his career. Nah, we're only joking, sort of.

Williams still finds it hard to stay monogamous, and finds it weird. "I haven't missed playing around, but I'm still a guy. This will be an on-going project. Feels unnatural, you know, but so far so good," he continued in the interview. "I'm more relaxed, I'm calm, happier. And then you think, 'I really want to f**k that up by doing something really stupid'". Well, Robbie, keep giving interviews like this and you might not have to sleep around to "f**k" things up.

Hillsborough Charity Single To Be Released In Aid Of Liverpool Fans' Families

Robbie Williams Melanie C Rebecca Ferguson Paloma Faith Mick Jones

A single is to be released to be released to help families of the victims of the Hillsborough disaster as they seek to recoup legal costs paid out over 23 years of fighting the authorities.

There was jubilation around Merseyside recently after it was finally determined via inquiry that Liverpool fans were not at fault for the deaths of 96 of their fans at a soccer match between their club and Nottingham Forest at Hillsborough, Sheffield on April 15, 2012. The battle has been long and hard, after the South Yorkshire Police had originally blamed the fans for the tragedy, and now the hope is that those who covered up the affair will be brought to justice.

The single though, a cover of The Hollies He Ain’t Heavy He’s My Brother, will be recorded by Robbie Williams, Mel C, Rebecca Ferguson and Paloma Faith, with other artists involved including Mick Jones from The Clash, Chris Sharrock from Oasis and the Lightning Seeds, and Gerry Marsden.  It will be doing battle for the Christmas number one singles spot in the UK, probably against whoever wins the latest X Factor series. The money raised from it is of far importance than where it might finish, with the families of the 96 having spent tens of thousands in their quest for justice.

Robbie Williams To Mentor X Factor Stars (And He's Turning On The Xmas Lights!)

Robbie Williams Gary Barlow Rylan Clark

Robbie Williams is to appear as a guest mentor on X Factor this Saturday (October 27, 2012), before performing live on Sunday night's results show. Robbie, 38, acted as Gary Barlow's sidekick in the judges' house stage last year, though Cheryl Cole took over the role this year.

That hasn't stopped the Take That man getting involved on this year's show, and he'll be offering support and advice to contestants including Rylan Clark, Jade Ellis and Ella Henderson this weekend. Robbie has previously expressed his support for Clark, who has divided audiences on this year's show. Actually, he hasn't divided anyone, he's absolutely dreadful - though is getting votes for the comedy factor, clearly. Last week, Williams tweeted, "TEAM RYLAN ALL THE WAY VOTE RYLAN," with Barlow - who walked off the set when Rylan made it through after Week 1 - reacted, "20 years of knowing each other and it's all over in five letters."

Bookmakers are unconvinced that Rylan will be booted out this week, offering around 3/1 on him being given his marching orders. Christopher Maloney is available at similar odds, as is the frankly terrible Kye Sones.

Friction In One Direction? Robbie Williams Reckons There Must Be.

Robbie Williams Gary Barlow Take That One Direction

Just when you thought his trouble-making days were over, Robbie Williams is stirring again. Robbie’s boy band days may be well and truly past him, but that doesn’t mean he can’t remember what it’s like working with a group of lads that have been bundled together in the name of entertainment. It’s no secret that Robbie Williams, 38, didn’t always get on with Gary Barlow, 41, during their days in Take That, and Robbie reckons that One Direction probably aren’t the tight unit that they always present themselves as.

I loved Gary and disliked him,” Robbie has said, according to Shortlist Magazine. “I'm sure that in One Direction right now, there's going to be hatred between certain members for certain things - all young and daft stuff.” We’re not sure if Robbie’s got some inside information or whether or not he’s simply basing his opinions on his own experience, but it wouldn’t take a huge stretch of the imagination to consider that the 1D lads aren’t all best mates all of the time. Still, The One Direction boys have only been together since 2010 and if there are any cracks in the band’s united front, they’re doing a very good job of sealing them over.

New Father Robbie Williams Envious Of One Direction?

Robbie Williams Ayda Field One Direction Take That

New father Robbie Williams has admitted that he envies the new boy-band in town, One Direction. The singer, 38 - who has been performing a number of low-key solo gigs across the UK - told Radio 1 that he wishes he was in the young group’s shoes as they continue to take the pop world by storm.

Though Williams has had his fair share of hits, and made his fair share of money, he explained to DJ Greg James, “I'm jealous of them and I wish I was doing it all with them…I've met all the boys, but it was a long time ago. I am quoted as saying, 'Robbie Williams slammed One Direction. Robbie Williams had a go at One Direction'. I really didn't - I love the boys.” The Take That star, whose brand of on-stage bravado has probably influenced the One Direction lads, added, “I'm looking forward to seeing where the road takes them for many years to come I hope. They do perform like they've never met each other and there's a certain charm to that too. It's brilliant.”

We can’t imagine Robbie is pining too much for the pop-star touring schedules, having become a father for the first time. His wife Ayda Field gave birth to Theodora Rose (affectionately known as Teddy) in London last week.

Bare Chested Robbie Williams Debuts Baby 'Teddy'

Robbie Williams Ayda Field Take That

Robbie Williams’ baby Theodora Rose, aka Teddy, made her first official Twitter appearance this week. In a picture posted on his micro-blogging page, the bleary eyed Take That star is seen with his baby-daughter nestling in his arms. Aww.

Williams became a father for the first time on Tuesday (September 18, 2012) when his wife Ayda Field gave birth to 7lbs 4oz Theodora, affectionately known as Teddy. In a caption to the picture, the 38-year-old pop superstar told followers, “Daddy's second nappy change ... Teddy's second day on the planet.” The baby was born in London and Robbie has previously explained how he did not want to bring up his daughter in Los Angeles, where he has resided for years, saying, “I don't want to educate our baby in LA because I would much prefer her to have English sensibilities…I want the baby to have an English passport, we're still figuring out exactly whereabouts the baby is going to be brought up…I had a conversation with the wife last night about where we're going to end up, but we still don't know.”

Robbie and his Turkish-American wife have been together for five years, getting married two years ago. The birth of Theodora came just in time, after Williams had wrapped up a series of club-shows at various venues around the UK.

Robbie Williams Tweets First Pictures Of His Baby

New dad Robbie Williams has Tweeted the first picture of his new baby Theodora Rose, who was born on September 18, 2012. With the caption; “DADDIES SECOND NAPPY CHANGE…. TEDDY’S SECOND DAY ON THE PLANET…” it shows the heavily tattooed Williams sat on a couch with his daughter asleep on his chest. Williams and his wife Ayda Field announced that they were expecting heir first child on March 30, this year, with Williams revealing that they were expecting a baby girl in May.

Williams and Field have been a couple since 2006 and despite numerous rumours stating that the two had split up, the two married at Williams’ Los Angeles home in August 2010.

Williams made the news recently when he announced his envy of UK boyband One Direction, admitting to BBC Radio One DJ Greg James on air that he wishes he was doing what they are and that he is a fan of the boy’s music. Robbie was on air not just to flirt with the chart toppers, but also to promote his newest album Take The Crown, his first album featuring all original material since 2009’s Reality Killed The Video Star. His new album will be released on November 2nd later this year.

Delighted Robbie Williams Announces First Child

Robbie Williams Take That Ayda Field

Congratulations to Robbie Williams ! It was reported that the on-again-off-again Take That member and hugely successful solo artist in his own right has become a father for the first time!

Breaking the news via his official website, the 38 year-old wrote a short but delighted sounding message that read "PRAISE BE, IT'S THEODORA ROSE WILLIAMS, AFFECTIONATELY KNOWN AS TEDDY..... BORN 3.33PM ON 18.9.12, 7LBS 4OZ... BABY, MUMMY AND DADDY ARE ALL ROCKIN.... THANK YOU FOR YOUR BEST WISHES."

Williams had announced back in March that he and his wife Ayda Field were expecting their first child together, the couple having married at the star's Beverly Hills home in 2010. Despite that, it's believed that the baby has been born in London. The news of the arrival is a sharp contrast to the tragedy that fellow Take That member Gary Barlow and his wife suffered after they suffered a still-born child last month. Williams and Barlow didn't see eye to eye for a long time after the former left the boy band in 1995, but the pair patched things up and Williams joined the band for a full tour last year. Given his friend's tragic circumstances, we're sure Williams will be treasuring Theodora just that little bit more.

Robbie Williams, In And Out Of Consciousness The Greatest Hits 1990-2010 Album Review

Its been quite a journey for Robbie Williams. 20 years in the music business, from boy band member to appearances at Glastonbury, from rock 'n' roll everyman to 80s revivalist. This album is a complete retrospective of his 15 year solo career and as such incorporates all the highs and all the lows.

A wise man once said it not enough to be successful, you have to see others fail. This is certainly true of Robbie. Up to a certain point the bitterness emanating from his acrimonious split from Take That seemed to fuel Robbie to greater success. Everything he did seemed to be designed to attack and outdo his former colleagues. Gary Barlow in particular took a bashing. And as his star rose higher theirs fell. And it didn't stop there, a spat with Liam Gallagher resulted in records being broken. Robbie performed and sold out more nights at Knebworth than Oasis. No coincidence, don't you think?

Now things have come full circle. The success following the Take That reunion has seen them go from strength to strength while Robbie went into hiding after falling to recapture his glory years (when you really think about it selling 100s of thousands of albums can't really be deemed that bad can it?). Then out of the blue the announcement came that Robbie was recording with his former band members and was to return as a fully fledged member of Take That.

Robbie Williams Parts Way With Song Writing Partner

Robbie Williams Guy Ritchie Mark Owen Take That

British popstar Robbie Williams has cancelled writing sessions with his long-time lyrical partner Guy Ritchie after it emerged that Guy has been working with Robbie's former band mates.

Chambers, who was behind some of Robbie's biggest hits including ANGELS, had recently reunited with the singer after going their separate ways several years ago.

However, the Sun reports that the pair's scheduled Los Angeles song-writing sessions have been cancelled after they "didn't work out".

A source claims Guy's upcoming collaboration with Take That members GARY BARLOW and Mark Owen was the real problem, added the newspaper.

"He never mentioned it to Robbie. Rob heard Gary was in LA working and found out it was with Guy. He wasn't best pleased when he heard," continued the source.

Chambers, Owen and Barlow are thought to be part of a 12-strong writing team for a new ITV show BRITANNIA HIGH which follows the lives of youngsters at a fictional performing arts school.

Barlow will pen songs for the students to sing throughout the series.

BRITANNIA HIGH will also utilise the talents of STRICTLY COME DANCING judge ARLENE PHILLIPS and theatre veteran DAVID IAN.
