Robbie Williams reunited with his former group Take That for the first time in five years, as he celebrated receiving the prestigious BRITs Icon Award in a special gig in London this week.

Taking to the stage at London’s Troxy venue on Monday evening (November 7th), in an intimate concert that was filmed by ITV and will be broadcast at a later date, Williams cycled through his greatest hits to mark only the third time that the BRITs have bestowed their Icon Award – Sir Elton John and David Bowie being the previous recipients.

However, the audience were given an extra special treat when Williams’ Take That colleagues (Gary Barlow, Howard Donald and Mark Owen) all joined him onstage and performed the band’s hits ‘Back For Good’ and ‘The Flood’.

Sporting his trademark hat, Owen sang with Williams on one side of the stage that protruded into the audience, with Barlow and Donald on the other side. Jason Orange, who quit the group in 2014, was absent.

“Rob, whether you like it or not, you will always be a member of Take That,” his bandmate Donald told him during the gig. The last time he had performed onstage with them, the group was completing its Progress Live tour in late 2011.

42 year old Williams recently released his new studio album, The Heavy Entertainment Show, and recently hinted that there were no plans to reunite with Take That, even though they themselves are on the road in 2017 with their Wonderland tour of Britain and Ireland.

“We unfortunately couldn't get our diaries to match,” he said earlier in November. “We will be doing something but I don't think it'll be next year.”
