The Marvel superhero blockbuster holds strong at number one during Mother's Day weekend (08-10May15), adding another $77.2 million (£48.3 million) in its second week on release, lifting the film's domestic total to $312.9 million (£195.6 million).

The impressive take places it level with Batman Begins follow-up The Dark Knight, which also hit the same milestone in 10 days, just behind 2012's The Avengers, which achieved the feat in nine days.

Age of Ultron added another $68 million (£42.5 million) in international markets, boosting its global total to $875.3 million (£547 million).

Meanwhile, back in the North American box office, Reese Witherspoon and Sofia Vergara's comedy Hot Pursuit is a new entry at two, trailing with a disappointing $13.3 million (£8.3 million).

Blake Lively's The Age of Adaline slips to three, while Furious 7 and Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 round out the new top five.
