'Frozen' Musical Set For Broadway In 2018

Frozen is heading to Broadway, with a full stage musical based on the Disney animation. According to the New York Times, Disney will bring the adaptation to the Broadway stage in the spring of 2018, through its New York-based theatrical division.

Frozen Frozen is headed to Broadway.

It will be the ninth musical and 10th show over all that Disney has brought to Broadway, with previous productions including The Lion King, Tarzan and The Little Mermaid. The NYT reports that the developmental production will begin outside New York in the summer of 2017, before moving Broadway the following spring.

Disney Announces A 'Gigantic' New 'Jack And The Beanstalk' Film Is In Development

Disney has announced that the next famous tale the studio will be tackling is classic Jack and the Beanstalk which is set to become an animated feature titled Gigantic. The new project was announced during the D23 Expo at the Anaheim Convention Center in California on Friday and production is said to have already begun.

Directing will be Nathan Greno who is best known for his work on 2010’s Tangled and sequel Tangled Ever After. “We hope this will be the definitive version of Jack and the Beanstalk, with comedy and deep emotion,” said Greno told the audience at D23.

Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, the Oscar winning team behind Frozen’s megahit ‘Let it Go’, will be bringing their talents to this year’s Academy Awards ceremony, by penning an original musical number for host Neil Patrick Harris.

The announcement was made by the ceremony’s producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, who said that the two are currently constructing "an original multimedia musical sequence" called "Moving Pictures.”

All You Need To Know About The 'Let It Go' Writers' New Musical

Just when you thought that you might've escaped 'Let It Go,' think again. The triple platinum, Academy Award winning track taken from Disney's smash hit, Frozen, may not be everywhere you look anymore, but that doesn't mean the creators of it are going away with it. The songwriters of 'Let It Go' are keeping busy as husband and wife duo Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez are gearing up to unveil a brand new project: a romantic comedy musical entitled 'Up Here,' set for a debut in 2015. The musical, which will open at the La Jolla Playhouse in San Diego, California is directed by Tony Award nominee Alex Timbers.

The show is about the main character Don, who is "an ordinary guy with a boring social life, an unused gym membership and a lot going on upstairs. When he finds a potential spark with Lindsay, his attempts at love are jeopardized by his chaotic subconscious mind." Seems interesting enough! As the Lopez's are finished with all aspects of the show, including all of the songs, it's enough to get us excited, but could they have another Frozen-like production on their hands? How about another 'Let It Go'? The producer of 'Up Here,' Scott Sanders, says "it is witty, it is wicked smart, it is irreverent, and it's youthful in its energy. It will appeal to a broad audience but it certainly will be something that even Millennials will relate to."

Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez - the Oscar-winning and now very rich husband-and-wife team behind the movie 'Frozen' - are plotting an original romantic comedy musical called 'Up Here'. Prestigious Californian theater company La Jolla Playhouse said on Tuesday that the show will be part of its 2015-2016 season and will be directed by Tony Award winner Alex Timbers.
