Robin Thicke Titles New Album 'Paula' - Cute Or Creepy?

Robin Thicke Paula Patton

Somebody might need to give Robin Thicke an intervention. The Grammy nominated, multi-platinum selling artist has ruled the charts in the past year, with his hit singles like ‘Blurred Lines’ and ‘Give It 2 You,’ but music seems to be the only thing that’s been working out for him lately.

Earlier this year, it was said that Thicke’s high school sweetheart and wife of nearly ten years, Paula Patton, would be seeking a divorce, and Thicke isn’t taking it well. In an effort to reconcile the relationship, there have been numerous attempts made by him that includes dedicating live performances to her. Even though he’s been quoted telling People Magazine that he’s “much happier” following the split, his actions speak otherwise – especially in regards to his new music.

Robin Thicke's New Album Titled 'Paula': Ten More Cringe-Worthy Album Titles

In perhaps the most audacious and downright ridiculous move the music business has witnessed in the last few years, singer Robin Thicke has announced his new album will carry the title of Paula, which by some strange coincidence just happens to be the name of his estranged wife- actress Paula Patton.

Thicke and Patton at 56th Grammy AwardsThicke and Paula in more happy circumstances.

To say such a public declaration of love is cringe-worthy would be an understatement, it is such a trite attempt at reconciling with his wife that is seems like something straight out of Spinal Tap. You can imagine the album title sitting quite comfortably alongside the likes of Smell The Glove and Shark Sandwich. As if that wasn’t irksome enough, Thicke’s debut single from the album is entitled "Get Her Back” and it sees the ageing crooner positively straining to exude as much heartfelt sincerity as he can before he gives himself a heart attack.

Rob Ford Makes Cringe-Worthy Guest Appearance On Jimmy Kimmel Live

Robin Thicke

What was Toronto Mayor Rob Ford doing on Jimmy Kimmel last night? Anyone who’s been following the story can already tell it was related to his drinking problem. Apparently, he was intended to restore his public image and had been courted by the show for months. On the night, however, things didn’t quite turn out as expected. The jokes ranged from rather harsh gags about Ford’s weight, to what some people would deem a completely inappropriate joke about Ford’s drinking habits. Check out this particular gem:

Kimmel told Ford that if he’s an alcoholic, and drinking enough that he would try crack cocaine in his 40s, “and you don’t remember it, maybe that’s something that you might want to think about, like talking to somebody.”

It all started with the release of ‘Burred Lines’ in March 2013, the single propelled Thicke from little known R&B singer to household name. A lot of the song’s attention came from its provocative and suggestive lyrical content, which many objected to, calling it misogynistic. However the other controversy was the song’s explicit video which featured full frontal naked women dancing with the singer. People were quick to wonder whether the singer’s actress wife was comfortable with the raunchy video. However Patton was quick to let everybody know that her husband had her full support, appearing on chat show ‘Chelsea Lately’, Mrs Thicke said the video originally made her a, ’little bit jealous’, but then she ‘wanted to jump his bones.’ She also confessed that it was in fact her who convinced Thicke to release the uncensored version of the video, telling him she liked it ‘better than the clothed version.’

Did Robin Thicke Steal 'Blurred Lines' From Marvin Gaye Song? [Listen]

Robin Thicke Marvin Gaye

Robin Thicke's 'Blurred Lines' was easily the biggest song of the year - it will officially go down as one of the biggest selling songs of the year, however, a legal battle about the origins of the pop hit has broken out.

The family of Marvin Gaye's claims in a lawsuit that Thicke's song plagiarizes the late soul star's 1977 track 'Got to Give It Up.' Gaye's children Nona and Frankie said Thicke has a "fixation" on their father's work and clearly ripped his work for Blurred Lines.

In an interview with GQ magazine, shortly after the release of "Blurred Lines", Thicke said: "[Producer] Pharrell [Williams] and I were in the studio and I told him that one of my favourite songs of all time was Marvin Gaye's 'Got to Give It Up'. I was like, 'Damn, we should make something like that, something with that groove'. Then he started playing a little something and we literally wrote the song in about a half hour and recorded it." Hmmm, sounds pretty cut and dry to us.

Miley Cyrus & Robin Thicke Inspire Hugh Hefner & Paris Hilton's Costumes At Playboy Halloween Party

Miley Cyrus Robin Thicke Hugh Hefner Crystal Harris Paris Hilton

Miley Cyrus and Robin Thicke inadvertently created a horror story three months before Halloween. Their performance at the MTV Video Music Awards in August has inspired the costumes of Hugh Hefner and his wife Crystal Harris at the Playboy Mansion's Halloween party on Saturday 26th October.

Paris Hilton
Paris Hilton's costume was inspired by Miley Cyrus' outfit at the MTV VMAs.

Hefner posted two photographs on his Twitter: one a selfie of the couple with Crystal holding a giant foam hand up to the camera; and the other with Crystal bending over in front of her husband. Hefner added the hash tag "twerking". Crystal, despite being a former 'Playmate' and glamour model, dressed more modestly than Cyrus had at the VMAs. She wore a short yellow dress as opposed to Cyrus' decision at the awards in August to wear a flesh coloured bikini. Hefner wore a striped suit with Thicke style sunglasses. It appears the costume was actually a prison outfit which Hefner had adapted with sunglasses, a gold chain and a microphone.

Miley Cyrus' Naked 'Wrecking Ball' Video Can't Compensate For A Boring Song

Miley Cyrus has made her next big move after last month's MTV VMAs twerking performance with Robin Thicke that had the internet chattering and eyebrows lost into hairlines. The Blurred Lines Of Copyright Infringement: Gaye Family Reject Robin Thicke Settlement

Robin Thicke Marvin Gaye

Robin Thicke is keen to settle the dispute raised by Marvin Gaye’s family in regards to the similarity between Blured Lines and a few Gaye songs. The family in question, however, isn’t up for a settlement. According to Billboard, the Gaye family has rejected a six-figure offer from the singer. It’s important to note here that an official copyright dispute hasn’t been raised yet, but with the rejection of the preemptive settlement, it looks like the heirs of Marvin Gaye’s estate are just biding their time and possibly in the process of building a solid case against Thicke.

Thicke's settlement offer has been refused.

According to sources Frankie Christian Gaye, Marvin Gaye III and Nona Marvisa Gaye accused Thicke's "Blurred Lines" hit single of plagiarizing "Got To Give it Up," written and composed by Marvin Gaye, who died in 1984.While the Gaye family have not taken any official legal action as of yet, Thicke, along with collaborators Pharrell Williams and Clifford Harris Jr. (known under the moniker T.I.) filed a preemptive lawsuit on Aug. 15 in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles.

Robin Thicke To Sue Marvin Gaye & Funkadelic Over 'Blurred Lines' Plagiarism Claims

Robin Thicke T.I Pharrell Williams Marvin Gaye

Robin Thicke may have enjoyed having THE number one hit of the entire summer with 'Blurred Lines,' but the singer now is apparently locked in a legal battle over that very song following claims that it sounds very similar to two older tracks. Despite professing his love for Marvin Gaye and discussing the influence the singer has had on his career, this hasn't stopped Thicke and his 'Blurred Lines' collaborators T.I. and Pharrell Williams from taking Gaye's family to court following complaints that 'Blurred Lines' sounds strangely similar to Gaye's 'Got To Give It Up.'

Robin Thicke
Thicke may be a fan of Gaye and Funkadelic, but he also has a reputation to uphold

According to The Hollywod Reporter, who broke the story, the Gaye family had apparently threatened Thicke and co. with legal action over the similarities between his hit song and Marvin's 1977 track. A similar complaint had been made by the company Bridgeport Music, who represent the legendary funk band Funkadelic, with the company claiming that 'Blurred Lines' shares an uncanny resemblance to their track 'Sexy Ways.' Now both the Gaye Estate and Bridgeport Music will both legal action from Thicke, T.I. and Williams as the latter attempt to brush off any claims of plagiarism.

Robin Thicke is suing Marvin Gaye's family, claiming he was threatened and accused of plagiarism over his summer hit 'Blurred Lines.'

In order to protect the song - which will probably turn out to be the biggest of the year - Robin Thicke, Pharrell Williams and Clifford Harris Jr are going to court. A lawsuit filed on Thursday (August 15, 2013) by the trio against Marvin Gaye's family and Bridgeport Music concerned the similarities between 'Blurred Lines' and at least two songs, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Let us explain. The suit claims that the Gaye family is alleging the controversial song "feels" or "sounds" the same as Marvin's 'Got To Give it Up' and that the "Gaye defendants are claiming ownership of an entire genre, as opposed to a specific work."

Interestingly enough, 2013 has proved to be the year of the comeback as Blurred Lines has become the sixth album to reach No. 1 more than a decade after the artist's debut album was released. Prior to him, Black Sabbath, Queens Of The Stone Age, Daft Punk, Gary Allan and Chris Tomlin all scored number ones with their new releases.

Jimmy Fallon's Toy Instrument Cover Firmly Cements "Blurred Lines" Into The Collective Consciousness

Robin Thicke Jimmy Fallon

Love it or hate it, Blurred Lines is definitely the catchiest summer tune that’s come out in a while – and yet Fallon managed to make it catchier. Last year it was Carly Rae Jepsen’s Call Me Maybe (we may or may not still hum that one in private), but seeing grown men play metal blocks, metal spoons, a tiny xylophone and… some sort of musical banana thing really never gets old. Sidenote: the name of that toy is still a mystery, so let’s go with “shaky banana” for the time being. Oh and Black Thought rapping into a colorful maraca? Priceless.

After The Controversy, Robin Thicke's 'Blurred Lines' Album Is Finally Here

Though the title track from Robin Thicke's latest album Blurred Lines was disparaged by critics for seemingly promoting sexual violence with its worrysome lyrics, the album was released today in the USA and is expected to hit No.1 as quickly as it did upon its 15th July release in the UK. The lead single from the album, 'Blurred Lines', which featured rapper T.I. and Pharrell Williams was released in March but ignited the fury of anti-sexual violence campaigners when the music video debuted.

Robin Thicke: Negative Press Could Have Increased The Notoriety Of His Music & Boosted Sales.

The video depicts Thicke and the accompanying rap duo surrounded by scantily clad women who strut around waiting to be pawed at by the suited men. Thicke hit back at those who criticised him, insisting he was a man of faithfulness and respect towards women, having been with his now-wife Paula Patton since their high school days. However, branded as "rapey", the song sickened many who saw it as exploitative and objectifying women but the single, perhaps boosted by the swirling negative press, hit and held the top spot on the singles chart in 21 countries.

The sixth album from R&B singer Robin Thicke hits shelves today, though...it's kind of irrelevant, given all anyone cares about is the single, Blurred Lines, and its unrated video.

Could it possibly provide fans with anything more than the pop-tastic Billboard No.1 hit that will comfortably become the biggest selling single of the year?

Well, it turns out the album is pretty good, too.
