Robin Thicke Launches Appeal Against 'Blurred Lines' Copyright Decision

Robin Thicke

Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams have launched an appeal against the landmark court ruling that awarded more than $5 million to the family of Marvin Gaye after it was found that their 2013 smash hit ‘Blurred Lines’ had copied elements of ‘Got To Give It Up’.

Lawyers for Thicke, as well as collaborators Pharrell and rapper TI, filed an opening brief with the ninth circuit court of appeals on Wednesday (August 24th), arguing as their opening statement: “if left to stand, the ‘Blurred Lines’ verdict would chill musical creativity and inhibit the process by which later artists draw inspiration from earlier artists to create new popular music”.

Post O2 Gigs, Pharrell Is On Top Of The World And Not Sweating The Small Stuff

Pharrell Williams Robin Thicke O2 Arena

I love Pharrell almost as much as I love that giant mushroom hat and after he produced the biggest hits of 2013 AND 2014, it’s likely that you do too. The multi-talented producer/rapper/musician/songwriter/mogul capped off his UK spree with a tell-all interview with The Independent, which basically covered everything from Robin Thicke to the aforementioned hat. The latter is apparently a  a vertiginous version of an old Vivienne Westwood design. After it made its debut at the Grammys in January, it’s definitely earned the title of Hat of the Year.

Robin Thicke Lied About Writing 'Blurred Lines', "I Was High And Drunk"

Robin Thicke says he was "high and drunk" during every interview he gave in 2013 and concedes that he had almost no hand in writing the smash hit single 'Blurred Lines', despite receiving around 20% of the royalties.

Robin Thicke Makes Up For Poor Sales By Selling $3M Family Home With Paula

Robin Thicke Paula Patton

Another nail in the coffin of Robin Thicke and Paula Patton’s relationship – the former couple are selling the family home in Bel Air. According to those real estate sleuths at TMZ, the house went up for sale on Monday, with an asking price of almost $3 million. Thicke could probably use the money, after his most recent album – a reunion plea titled Paula sold abysmal numbers – 530 copies in the UK and just 54 in Australia. At least the couple will get back their investment – the final solace of the divorced couple.

Robin Thicke
Robin Thicke's most recent plea to Paula Patton failed on all counts.

Although apparently it wasn’t actually the couple’s investment. Thicke’s father purchased the house back in 1990 for a measly $910,000. The pad includes a recording studio where Robin may have worked on songs like Blurred Lines, Lost Without You, and Get Her Back – all of which sounds like the universe is playing a bad joke on the singer.

Robin Thicke "Needed To Be Humbled" After Success And Criticism Of 2013

Robin Thicke

2013 was the year Robin Thicke finally became a huge name in the music industry, but along with his rise to stardom was a huge amount of criticism.

The 37 year-old singer dominated the charts last year with one hit song, 'Blurred Lines,' but along with the suggestive lyrics and raunchy music video, he was subjected to harsh backlash from the public.

To further tarnish his image, Thicke also caused controversy when performing at the 2013 MTV VMA's with Miley Cyrus, which saw the 21 year-old singer bent over, grinding on his groin in a very proactive manner.

#AskThicke: The Best Of Robin Thicke’s Twitter Q&A

Robin Thicke Paula Patton

On Monday, ‘Blurred Lines’ singer Robin Thicke teamed up with VH1 for a fan Q&A on Twitter using the hashtag #askthicke. The good news for the singer was that #askthicke soon became a worldwide trend, but the questions probably weren't the kind Robin was looking for. From being called out on his music's misogyny to having to address his marital woes, Robin got more than he bargained for from #askthicke.

Robin ThickeTwitter users were unleashed on Robin Thicke earlier in the week

Undoubtedly ‘Blurred Lines’ was 2013’s single of the summer, you really couldn't escape it. Unless that is, if you were attending one of the UK universities whose campus eventually banned the controversial single. But fast forward a year later in the life of Robin Thicke and things are a little different. The singer has recently split from his wife of nine years Paul Patton and seemingly in an effort to get her back, he’s named his latest album Paula. But when the singer took to twitter on Monday for a Q&A with VH1 he was probably expecting to answer questions based around his new material. Instead the twitterverse decided he had a lot more to answer for.

Probably the best sun-soaked family vacation you could ask for at such great value, SunFest arrives at West Palm Beach today (April 30th 2014) with a line-up that truly has something for everyone - if you'd pardon the cliché. Like any decent festival, filling in the spaces between bands is everything from the BB&T Juried Fine Art & Craft show to the Floating Oasis barge parties, not to mention the much anticipated fireworks display on Sunday. Having hosted its first event in 1982, it's no wonder it has remained such a family favourite, attracting over 165,000 revellers each year.

While Paula Patton Wows At Independent Spirits, Robin Thicke Stays Chaste (Probably)

Paula Patton Robin Thicke

Robin Thicke might be trying to win back Paula Patton’s affections, but in the mean time, both of them are doing their own thing – which is probably better for everyone involved. While Patton made an impression at Saturday’s Independent Spirit Awards, Thicke apparently stayed away from the barely-dressed ladies (for once).

Rumors about Patton and Thicke's rough patch have been rampant ever since the Blurred Lines fiasco from last year.

Patton took to the Independent Spirits’ blue carpet, dressed in a fitted yellow dress with lace-detailing. Whether she was looking to show Thicke what he’s missing (unlikely) or she just wanted to strut her stuff, it worked. Despite not being nominated for any awards, Patton was one of the stars of the night.

So Long Harold Ramis: This week, the world lost the comedy talent known as Harold Ramis: Ghostbusters actor and the man behind many a funny comedy film. Ramis died after complications associated with autoimmune inflammatory vasculitis, a rare disease that involves swelling of the blood vessels. Stacks of twinkies have been left outside the Ghostbusters fire station in Tribeca, as an ode the wonderful Ramis and his cinematic legacy. RIP Harold Ramis: 1944 - 2014.

From announcing her Prismatic European tour then making out with Miley Cyrus to delivering a baby and even angering the world's Muslim population with her "blasphemous" new music video, the pop star has kept herself busy. However, Perry's relationship with singer-songwriter John Mayer has made headlines after it was strongly rumoured that the pair had broken up.

The British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) has announced plans for a new age-rating system designed to tackle online music videos deemed inappropriate material for young people. Robin Thicke To Receive 'R.E.S.P.E.C.T' Voucher As He Wins Sexist Of The Year

Robin Thicke

Robin Thicke has won the title of Sexist Of The Year by the End Violence Against Women Coalition after his hit single 'Blurred Lines' was accused of glamorising rape culture.

He may have become a worldwide number one sensation with the track, but it's probably won Thicke a lot more critics than supporters as, ever since its release, people have blasted the song for its vile and degrading lyrics and, of course, the explicit accompanying video. The End Violence Against Women Coalition are thus sending the singer a voucher for the download of Aretha Franklin's 'R.E.S.P.E.C.T' to congratulate him and attempt to invite him to change his sexist ways.

Miley Cyrus has made her next big move after last month's MTV VMAs twerking performance with Robin Thicke that had the internet chattering and eyebrows lost into hairlines. Well, perhaps spurred by the sudden spotlight upon her young self, Miley's back with a brand new music video and the follow-up to the summer's bit hitting 'We Can't Stop.' What has really set the gears of the internet gossiping in motion again is the 20 year-old's performance in the video. Not even Miley Cyrus' friends have kept quiet about her performance at the 2013 MTV VMAs on Sunday night (25th August). The 20-year-old appeared on stage singing her summer hit 'We Can't Stop'. Thicke joined her on stage to sing, with her help, his single 'Blurred Lines'. Throughout Cyrus' performance with 36-year-old Thicke, she acquired a giant foam hand with which she mimed sexually explicit acts with.

Did Miley Cyrus Storm Off After Her Eye-Popping MTV VMAs Twerk-Fest?

Miley Cyrus Robin Thicke Paula Patton

Miley Cyrus may not have won any MTV Video Awards last night at the dazzling Brookyln ceremony, but she surely provided one of the evening's most talked about performances as she twerked, ground, twerked and then twerked some more.

Miley Cyrus
Miley's Tongue: More Famous Than The Singer.

For those unfamiliar with the term, 'twerking' refers to the dance move craze sweeping clubs and Miley's music videos where one's backside jiggles when one's hips are moved up and down quickly. Miley has virtually trademarked the routine and makes sure everyone knows how proficient she is in the art of the twerk by performing the move at every given opportunity.

The Blurred Lines Of Copyright Infringement: Gaye Family Reject Robin Thicke Settlement

Robin Thicke Marvin Gaye

Robin Thicke is keen to settle the dispute raised by Marvin Gaye’s family in regards to the similarity between Blured Lines and a few Gaye songs. The family in question, however, isn’t up for a settlement. According to Billboard, the Gaye family has rejected a six-figure offer from the singer. It’s important to note here that an official copyright dispute hasn’t been raised yet, but with the rejection of the preemptive settlement, it looks like the heirs of Marvin Gaye’s estate are just biding their time and possibly in the process of building a solid case against Thicke.

Robin Thicke, The Morning Show
Thicke's settlement offer has been refused.

According to sources Frankie Christian Gaye, Marvin Gaye III and Nona Marvisa Gaye accused Thicke's "Blurred Lines" hit single of plagiarizing "Got To Give it Up," written and composed by Marvin Gaye, who died in 1984.While the Gaye family have not taken any official legal action as of yet, Thicke, along with collaborators Pharrell Williams and Clifford Harris Jr. (known under the moniker T.I.) filed a preemptive lawsuit on Aug. 15 in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles.

Robin Thicke To Sue Marvin Gaye & Funkadelic Over 'Blurred Lines' Plagiarism Claims

Robin Thicke T.I Pharrell Williams Marvin Gaye

Robin Thicke may have enjoyed having THE number one hit of the entire summer with 'Blurred Lines,' but the singer now is apparently locked in a legal battle over that very song following claims that it sounds very similar to two older tracks. Despite professing his love for Marvin Gaye and discussing the influence the singer has had on his career, this hasn't stopped Thicke and his 'Blurred Lines' collaborators T.I. and Pharrell Williams from taking Gaye's family to court following complaints that 'Blurred Lines' sounds strangely similar to Gaye's 'Got To Give It Up.'

Robin Thicke
Thicke may be a fan of Gaye and Funkadelic, but he also has a reputation to uphold

According to The Hollywod Reporter, who broke the story, the Gaye family had apparently threatened Thicke and co. with legal action over the similarities between his hit song and Marvin's 1977 track. A similar complaint had been made by the company Bridgeport Music, who represent the legendary funk band Funkadelic, with the company claiming that 'Blurred Lines' shares an uncanny resemblance to their track 'Sexy Ways.' Now both the Gaye Estate and Bridgeport Music will both legal action from Thicke, T.I. and Williams as the latter attempt to brush off any claims of plagiarism.

Robin Thicke Is Suing Marvin Gaye's Family. Is That Even Legal?

Robin Thicke Pharrell Williams Marvin Gaye

Robin Thicke is suing Marvin Gaye's family, claiming he was threatened and accused of plagiarism over his summer hit 'Blurred Lines.'

In order to protect the song - which will probably turn out to be the biggest of the year - Robin Thicke, Pharrell Williams and Clifford Harris Jr are going to court. A lawsuit filed on Thursday (August 15, 2013) by the trio against Marvin Gaye's family and Bridgeport Music concerned the similarities between 'Blurred Lines' and at least two songs, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Let us explain. The suit claims that the Gaye family is alleging the controversial song "feels" or "sounds" the same as Marvin's 'Got To Give it Up' and that the "Gaye defendants are claiming ownership of an entire genre, as opposed to a specific work."

Miley Cyrus has scored her first UK number one single with 'We Can't Stop,' which incidentally is her first Top 10 hit in the country.

The 20-year-old sold 128,000 copies of her new single last week to reach the top spot, ousting Swedish DJ Avicii and his hit track 'Wake Me Up'.

Miley had previously peaked in the UK singles chart at number three with See You Again in 2008 and at 11 in 2009 with The Climb and Party in the USA.

Robin Thicke's 'Blurred Lines' Earns Him First No. 1 Debut In Album Chart

Robin Thicke Black Sabbath Queens Of The Stone Age

Robin Thicke is having one heck of a summer so far, seeing his single 'Blurred Lines' climb to the top of just about every singles chart across the globe. With the release of his new album, also titled Blurred Lines, the singer has continued his run of blurry success by landing straight at the number one spot in the Billboard Album Charts, a first for the R&B star in his more-than-a-decade-long career.

Robin Thicke
Thicke is experiencing the most successful period of his career

As reported by Billboard, Thicke has scored his first number one album at the sixth time of asking, shifting 177,000 copies since it was released last week (30 July). As expected, this success has also landed Thicke with his best week of album sales in his career, with his closest equivalent coming when 2008's Something Else managed 137,000 sales, landing it at the No. 3 spot. Interestingly enough, 2013 has proved to be the year of the comeback as Blurred Lines has become the sixth album to reach No. 1 more than a decade after the artist's debut album was released. Prior to him, Black Sabbath, Queens Of The Stone Age, Daft Punk, Gary Allan and Chris Tomlin all scored number ones with their new releases.

Love it or hate it, Blurred Lines is definitely the catchiest summer tune that’s come out in a while – and yet Fallon managed to make it catchier. Last year it was Carly Rae Jepsen’s Call Me Maybe (we may or may not still hum that one in private), but seeing grown men play metal blocks, metal spoons, a tiny xylophone and… some sort of musical banana thing really never gets old. Sidenote: the name of that toy is still a mystery, so let’s go with “shaky banana” for the time being. Oh and Black Thought rapping into a colorful maraca? Priceless.

After The Controversy, Robin Thicke's 'Blurred Lines' Album Is Finally Here

Though the title track from Robin Thicke's latest album Blurred Lines was disparaged by critics for seemingly promoting sexual violence with its worrysome lyrics, the album was released today in the USA and is expected to hit No.1 as quickly as it did upon its 15th July release in the UK. The lead single from the album, 'Blurred Lines', which featured rapper T.I. and Pharrell Williams was released in March but ignited the fury of anti-sexual violence campaigners when the music video debuted.

Thicke hit back at those who criticised him, insisting he was a man of faithfulness and respect towards women, having been with his now-wife Paula Patton since their high school days. However, branded as "rapey", the song sickened many who saw it as exploitative and objectifying women but the single, perhaps boosted by the swirling negative press, hit and held the top spot on the singles chart in 21 countries.

The sixth album from R&B singer Robin Thicke hits shelves today, though...it's kind of irrelevant, given all anyone cares about is the single, Blurred Lines, and its unrated video.

The nominations for the MTV Video Music Awards 2013 have been announced, with Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and Justin Timberlake leading the field. Armed with their videos for 'Can't Hold Us' and 'Thrift Shop,' the hip-hop duo will square off against JT at Brooklyn's Barclays Center on August 25, 2013.

Both acts received six nominations, with Timberlake getting nods for his 'Suit and Tie' and 'Mirrors' promos. Elsewhere, Bruno Mars appears to have every chance of taking home the prize of 'Video of the Year' with 'Locked out of Heaven,' though Robin Thicke's controversial clip for 'Blurred Lines' and Taylor Swift's 'I Knew You Were Trouble' will also be popular.

The VMAs - one of the biggest events on the pop music calendar - represents the first time a major awards show has been held in Brooklyn. The place has been a mecca for art and culture for years, though the Barclays Center appears to have truly put it on the map.

After its release on 12th July, Pet Shop Boys' new album Electric climbed the charts due to rave reviews and fan excitement. Since their formation in 1981, the Boys have earned notoriety with their weird stage appearances involving robot and animal masks as well as entertaining with spectacular light shows to accompany their distinctive electropop with hits such as 'West End Girls' being performed at the London 2012 Olympic closing ceremony.

If Electric gets to No.1, it will be the first time Pet Shop Boys have conquered the UK charts since 1993 with their Very LP. The album is the first not to be produced by record label Parlophone, having entered into a new management agreement with Kobalt Label Services in a move that the band described as "exciting." Tracks for Electric were recorded with producer Stuart Price, with the band's aim to make a clear "dance record" in response to the reflective mood of 11th album Elysium.

Q. How Many UK No.1's Does Jay-Z Have? A. Less Than You Think

Incredibly, Jay-Z has landed his first ever UK number one album, with Magna Carta Holy Grail storming the chart and holding off Mumford & Sons and Rod Stewart. The rapper's previous highest-charting album was the 2011 collaborate effort with Kanye West, Watch the Throne, which entered at No.3.

Holy Grail managed to hold off Mumford & Sons' Babel despite a surge in sales following the group's triumphant headlining show at the Glastonbury Festival. Jay-Z also comfortably outsold Rod Stewart's number-one album Time. Passenger took the third spot with All The Little Light, with Canadian crooner Michael Buble dropped two places to No.4 with To Be Loved.

Jay-Z has been performing in the UK this weekend, headlining the second night of the Wireless music festival at the Queen Elizabeth Park on the former Olympics site. "I feel the love tonight," Jay-Z, 43, told the crowd, "You've been an incredible audience tonight." The rapper - still one of the biggest hip-hop acts in the world - was joined by Timberlake during the encore for a rendition of Holy Grail.

Will Justin Timberlake Be Sued For 'Take Back The Night' Track Title?

Justin Timberlake Robin Thicke Jay Z

Timberlake debuted new track 'Take Back The Night' at London's Wireless Festival during his Friday headline slot, to great excitement from fans but one organisation apparently is not impressed with the 'Sexyback' singer's choice of track name. Take Back The Night, an anti-rape charity, are "shocked" to learn that Timberlake chose the name of their organisation for his new song which features overtly sexual lyrics. "Tonight the night, come on surrender/ I won't lead your love astray, astray, yeah/ Your love's a weapon/ Give your body some direction/ That's my aim," sings Timberlake who clearly graduated from the same school of persuasive courtship as 'Blurred Lines' singer Robin Thicke.

Justin Timberlake
Justin Timberlake Is In A Spot Of Trouble With A Charity Whose Name He Used Without Permission.

Essentially, it's a typical Timberlake track, laced with whistles and a horn section and those distinctive falsetto vocals, i.e. it's bound to be a mega hit. So it's no wonder really that JT's ruffled a few feathers over the identity of the titling phrase; the charity are perturbed to say the least, with Take Back the Night Foundation Executive Director Katherine Koestner explaining to Radar Online: "We have some big concerns. For example, all of a sudden on Wikipedia, Take Back the Night has a different definition. That's not been helpful." Turning scrutiny towards the song's sexually-themed lyrics, Koestner adds "The lyrics are definitely very sexual and not at all clearly anti-sexual violence. 'Use me,' for example, is not a great phrase for anyone affiliated with the organization."

'Blurred Lines,' Robin Thicke's huge breakout hit featuring that T.I. and Pharrell Williams, has topped the Billboard Hot 100 for the fifth week. The track also spends a sixth week at No.1 on the Digital Songs chart, selling 423,000 downloads - equalling last week's total  and bettering the previous week's 423,000.

'Lines' is only the second song to sell at least 400,000 downloads in three tracking weeks, joining Gotye's massive hit 'Somebody That I Used To Know' featuring Kimbra, which reached the mark on charts dated April 28, May 5 and May 12, 2012, according to Billboard.com.

'Blurred Lines' has now sold 2.4 million copies date, though concerns still remain over the song's controversial video featuring various well-known models parading around nude while Thicke stands around in a suit.

Amid Controversy, Robin Thicke Stands Up To Defend "Blurred Lines"

Robin Thicke Pharrell Williams T.I

Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines and the accompanying video might have been getTIng a lot of flack for the “rape-y” lyrics and the objectification of women in the clip, but fret not, because Thicke himself has stepped up to defend his work. You have to admire the man for standing up to defend lyrics like “Nothin' like your last guy, he too square for you/He don't smack that ass and pull your hair for you” and, of course the ever charming “I'm a nice guy, but don't get confused, you gettin’ it” But at least Thick has a reasonable explanation for his questionable lyrics, right? Well, sort of.

“For me it’s about blurring the lines between men and women and how much we’re the same,” Thicke said in what sounds like a promising statement for Radio 1. “And then there’s the other side of it which is the blurred lines between a good girl and a bad girl, and even very good girls all have little bad sides to them.”

The censored version might have been deemed SFW, but it still has a lot of the same problems.

Yep, it looks as though old Muzza might be heading into the music business - if Robin Thicke has his way anyhow. The singer - whose smash hit single 'Blurred Lines' is the fastest selling track of the year - has revealed his plans to release a remix of the song featuring Murray himself. Discussing his plans on ITV's Lorraine programme, Robin explained, "I think I'm going to do a remix with Andy Murray," saying he would shoot a new video with a sports twist, specifically, "Beautiful girls in various tennis outfits with rackets strategically placed." We're not sure Murray would be up for this collaboration, given the state of his music taste.

Justin Timberlake's 'Tunnel Vision' video - the unrated version - has been banned by YouTube for violating the website's nudity and sexual content policy.

The pop star released a promo for his new song earlier this week, which featured various nude women standing behind him as he performed - not unlike Robin Thicke's Blurred lines unrated video.

According to MTV, the video also featured a projection screen which played over the bodies of the women. Timberlake - who's returning album The 20/20 Experience was a monumental success - had warned fans on Twitter that the music video was a little bit raunchy and YouTube duly removed it from the site. He said, "Check out the new video for Tunnel Vision and be ready...it's explicit."

Robin Thicke’s ‘Blurred Lines’ Slammed For 'Rapey' Lyrics

Robin Thicke

Weird, awkward and downright creepy. Robin Thicke’s new track and video for ‘Blurred Lines’ ft. T.I., Pharrell has been criticised for its 'rapey' lyrics.

Have we travelled back in time? Are women no longer regarded as free thinking individuals? Clearly not according to Robin Thicke, singer, actor and self-selected lothario, who teams his new track’s toe-curling lyrics with an equally degrading and blatantly misogynistic video. This hasn’t happened by accident – oh no – Mr. Thicke hasn’t just thrown a giant fake dice, an exercise bike and his bezzies T.I and Pharrell into a giant studio, proceed to corner a bunch of nearly naked models and then gotten surprised by peoples’ outrage.

“We tried to do everything that was taboo - bestiality, drug injections, and everything that is completely derogatory towards women,” proclaimed Thicke in an interview with GQ, not exactly helping his cause. He continues to describe the “pleasure” he took in degrading women, “I’ve never gotten to do that before. I’ve always respected women” – as if that somehow absolves him from all future wrongdoings towards women forever.

Rod Stewart, Pharrell, Cee-Lo Green Lined Up To Appear On The Voice USA

Rod Stewart Cee-Lo Green Lady Antebellum Pharrell Williams Robin Thicke

The producers of The Voice USA have arranged a varied line-up of music stars to perform on the show in the coming weeks, Reuters reports. Amongst them is Rod Stewart, who will be performing music from ‘Time,’ his first album of original material in over 10 years. He is scheduled to appear on the show on May 10, according to the report and he will be joined by Cee-Lo Green – formerly a judge on the show. Green is expected to perform his new song ‘Only You.’

On May 14, the show’s organisers have lined up a performance from Lady Antebellum. The Grammy award winners are currently promoting their album Golden and have been invited onto the show; currently one of US TV’s prime spots for promoting artists’ new material. The pop singer Robin Thicke will also be making an appearance on the same show as Lady Antebellum, as will rapper T.I. and singer / producer Pharrell, who recently guested on Daft Punk’s comeback track Get Lucky. The show averages around 14 million viewers across the two weekly shows.

The Voice is currently in its fourth season in the US, having recently drafted in Shakira and Usher to replace Cee Lo Green and Christina Aguilera. The season will draw to a close in June, when a winner will be chosen and rewarded with a recording contract.

A Week In Music, Suede Return With A New Album To Match Their Best, Vampire Weekend Release Unusual Double A Side, Beyonce Causes A Stir With 'Bow Down'

Suede Bloodsport Promo Picture

Albums of Note... Tasked with the tricky mission of releasing an album that stood up to their back catalogue, after several years in the wilderness and a brief spell of time on the reunion circuit, Suede have finally released Bloodsports. Rather than opting for replicating one of their previous albums, they have amalgamated elements of all five of them.
They’ve not lost their distinctive, Bowie-obsessed sound and Suede will forever have one foot in the Britpop era but with Bloodsports they have achieved what few can manage: to come back after a lengthy hiatus, ties unsevered, water under the bridge and still get back to making a quality album and reclaiming their mark on the British landscape.“Bloodsports then, is exactly the album that Suede needed to make. It is loud, aggressive, uncompromising and absolutely, defiantly Suede. Nobody else could have written these songs. Suede have done the almost impossible task of simultaneously looking back at the past while planting a foot firmly into the future.”

Pitched somewhere between The Killers and the Kings of Leon, Cold War Kids have returned with much of the same kind of material that they showcased on their first album. Dear Miss Lonely Hearts is a little bit “Cold War Kids by numbers” and although they’re pretty adept at what they do, if they just stepped out of their comfort zone for a moment, they could surely achieve much greater heights.
The album's sure fire highlight is Jailbirds, a jaunty rocker, with a fat bass line and a noisy breakdown reminiscent of Queens of the Stone Age. This song offers something a little different and breaks the slight monotony of the rest of the album.
