The Rolling Stones Plan UK Dates

Rolling Stones Mick Jagger Keith Richards Ronnie Wood Charlie Watts

The Rolling Stones are planning UK gigs for next year.

British fans of the rock group - which includes Sir Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and Charlie Watts - were devastated to find out that the band had missed out the UK on their last tour, the No Filter European Tour, earlier this year but Mick has now revealed the group are ''getting plans in place'' to perform in the UK in 2018.

Mick told The Sun newspaper: ''We were disappointed not to perform in the UK on our recent jaunt and we're looking forward to getting plans in place to do so next year.''

Anita Pallenberg, the model, actress and the woman frequently credited as being The Rolling Stones’ ‘muse’, has passed away at the age of 73, it has been confirmed.

The German-Italian style icon and ‘It Girl’ of the 1960s and 1970s was also the long-term girlfriend of the Stones’ guitarist Keith Richards, with whom she had three children. She starred alongside the band’s singer Mick Jagger in the hallucinogenic film Performance in 1970, and alongside Jane Fonda in Barbarella in 1968.

Stars We'd Love To See Join James Corden On Carpool Karaoke UK

James Corden James Blunt Rolling Stones

So apparently, James Corden might be bringing his much-loved 'Late Late Show' to the UK, which means a very different calibre of guests for his legendary Carpool Karaoke. He may have his own wish list of potential guests for a UK version, but so do we.

James CordenJames Corden to bring Carpool Karaoke to the UK?

It isn't like he's never had Brits on the segment before, but we think the fact that One Direction, Chris Martin, Adele and Elton John have been amongst some of the most popular Carpool Karaoke videos is reason enough to bring it to the nation fully. 'We do have some stuff planned this year - which might involve being in the UK', he told the Radio Times. It seems only right, given that the 'Late Late Show' skit originated from a 2011 Red Nose Day clip featuring the late George Michael.

The Rolling Stones - Blue & Lonesome Album Review

It's been a relentlessly cruel year for Rock's old guard, much has been written about the loss of icons in 2016, yet in the dying embers of this musical annus horribilis rather miraculously The Rolling Stones have triumphantly returned. Surely a covers album for their 23rd studio offering can't be their best effort since 1994's Voodoo Lounge? The answer is a resounding yes, by resetting their clock and going all the way back to their humble beginnings this is an utterly re-invigorated band that no longer feels like it's left the glory days a number of decades ago in the rear-view mirror.

The Rolling Stones - Blue & Lonesome Album Review

What's most astonishing about Blue & Lonesome is that by making a modest, rather than grandiose, statement The Stones remind you why you liked them in the first place. While Jagger and Richards appear to have primarily traded on nostalgia for much of the 21st Century, by mining a treasure trove of Chicago Blues standards that will be unknown to younger listeners, they've found the perfect balance between paying homage to the greats and rejuvenating their aging brand. I'm delighted that for once this Stones record isn't a false prophecy of greatness, its intimate scrappy vigour is the real deal.

Kicking off with the gritty 12-bar Blues of Buddy Johnson's 'Just Your Fool' it's clear that the album title isn't a solemn description of what's on offer, rather it's a celebratory description of classic Blues stripped of Mick and Keith's usual bells and whistles. It's like listening to the band in a tiny pub or rehearsal space jamming through some wonderful forgotten songs. The approach is thankfully, short, concise, renditions with everyone staying in their place. There's no Keith lead vocal, no Mick playing guitar, and no overly theatrical vocal acrobatics. That's not to say that Jagger doesn't belt these songs out, but he's concentrating on doing the performances justice whether through his singing or harmonica, rather than putting on a show. It's no surprise that the band knocked out this album in just three days of recording, the rough and ready attitude is the backbone to what's here.

Rolling Stones legend Mick Jagger has given the ‘Brexit’ campaign an unexpected boost by saying that leaving the EU could be in Britain’s long-term interest.

The singer was speaking at the launch of the group’s new ‘Exhibitionism’ art installation at the Saatchi Gallery in London on Sunday evening (April 3rd). When asked by Sky News about the issue tearing Britain’s political parties apart, he claimed that although he didn’t feel the question would affect him personally either way, he felt that it might be beneficial for Britain after some initial turbulence.

Keith Richards Rolling Stones

He’s readying himself for his first solo album in nearly a quarter of a century later this month, but Keith Richards has spoken about some news that we genuinely do want to hear about – the possibility of a new Rolling Stones album.

The 71 year old guitarist spoke a little bit about the prospect of another Stones album, which would be the first in over a decade since 2005’s A Bigger Bang, to Entertainment Weekly. The group finished their Zip Code Tour of North America back in July, and Richards is eager to get cracking as soon as possible. However, he doesn’t hold out much hope of getting anything done until 2016.

The Rolling Stones have expressed their puzzlement at the decision taken by London Underground to censor the promotional poster for their upcoming exhibition at tube stations around the capital.

On Wednesday (July 8th), The Guardian reported that the poster, featuring the band’s iconic ‘lips and tongue’ logo over the crotch area of a scantily clad woman, had been rejected by regulators in charge of advertising standards. Exterion Media, as well as bus regulators Clear Channel, both deemed the image too suggestive.

The Rolling Stones Talk About Upcoming 'Exhibitionism'

Rolling Stones

They recently announced a hotly anticipated exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery in London starting next year, and now The Rolling Stones have teased a few more details about what it will involve and what motivated them to do it now.

Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and Charlie Watts took time out from their current Zip Code Tour of North America for a short featurette where they spoke a little about ‘Exhibitionism’, which will open on April 6th 2016. It turns out the group has been planning it for over three years.

“We’ve been pretty hands-on in this,” said singer Mick Jagger. “We’ve looked at lots of proposals, ways of presenting these things. And we’ve changed a lot of the ideas that were originally presented and substituted with them our own. I think that’s good.”

The Rolling Stones - From The Vault: The Marquee, Live In 1971

The latest release in the Rolling Stones' 'From The Vault' series comes hot on the heels of the remastered and expanded reissue of their seminal 1971 album 'Sticky Fingers'. While The Marquee gig is a great companion piece to that album, as a stand-alone release it feels slight by comparison. It's by no means a 'cash-in' as this performance has been on the bootleg circuit for years, and deserved a proper release. However, it may have been more suitable to package it alongside 'Sticky Fingers' itself, in isolation it feels like a forgettable curio, although I must stress that everything here is well worth your time, no matter how brief the contents are.

The Rolling Stones - From The Vault: The Marquee, Live in 1971 DVD Review

In essence, you get a 38-minute live performance of 8 songs that was taped for an American TV special and then re-cut at varying lengths for transmission around the world. That this classic line-up of the band (Jagger, Richards, Watts, Taylor, and Wyman) was performing in such an intimate and historic venue on London's Wardour Street makes this an artefact of interest. Add to that essentially four songs in the set list that many viewers around the world wouldn't have heard: 'Brown Sugar', 'Bitch', 'Dead Flowers', and 'I Got The Blues'. It's understandable why the fan community have wanted a proper release for this show for the last four decades. My problem then is not really with the show itself, rather that it feels lightweight when you compare it to similar archive series releases from other heritage acts.

Compare, for example, the plethora of material that Bob Dylan's 'Bootleg Series' has released in recent years. Even Neil Young or The Beatles' Anthology have presented sought after performances in bumper packages. 'Live At The Marquee' could have been bolstered by audio performances from The Roundhouse or any other of the UK shows in the month preceding 'Sticky Fingers'. While the University of Leeds show was presented on super deluxe version of that studio album earlier this year, perhaps it would have been more beneficial to include it here. Whatever the logic behind this release and its array of different formats (CD, DVD, Blu-Ray, and combinations of all), 8 tracks (no matter how good they are), a couple of outtakes of the same songs to ensure camera angles were covered, and a solitary Top Of The Pops mostly mimed performance of 'Brown Sugar', do not add up to a bumper package or value for money. There's an hour and change of performance here, it really does feel like a bonus disc at best.
