Roni Size - Return To V - Album Review

urban vocalists flexing on his tracks. What stands out for me on this album is the variety of different songs. The influences range from ragga to house all fused by his intent drum & bass sound. There’s also a techno energy to make it all quite industrial. It’s not the scientific soundscapes that float your mind that remind me of ‘New Forms’. It’s more hard edge and gritty with a trade mark British stamp. It’s pumping in parts, uplifting in others and confrontational all the way through. By using the vocalists Size has creating songs that fit in with his music and there’s no doubt it’s original.

Size has created another interesting album that holds a lot of tracks and a real mix of different styles. It seems to me to be reaching out to those dancing on the streets. It’s not space like some of his other stuff. ‘Return To V’ to me seems to be fixing Size totally to the ground and letting others know he’s hearing the sounds of the city. To be continued.
