Actress Rosanna Arquette has won damages from a British tabloid newspaper after it alleged she had battled drug problems. The 48-year-old star filed a lawsuit after the News Of The World newspaper printed the reports in November last year (07). She says, "This upsetting and untrue allegation has caused me a lot of distress. I felt it was something I had to take action about and I feel so much better now that the true position has been made clear." The paper, which retracted the story, says, "We are happy to clarify the situation and apologise to Ms Arquette." Arquette, best known for her starring role opposite Madonna in Desperately Seeking Susan, is donating the undisclosed damages to The Children's Hospital in Los Angeles.
