Roseanne Barr Could Take One-Time Pay-Out To Relinquish 'Roseanne' Rights To ABC

Roseanne Barr

Roseanne Barr made a huge mistake when she sent out a racist tweet attacking former President Barack Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett; calling her the "baby" of the "muslim brotherhood and planet of the apes". The social media move saw the star's critically-acclaimed hit ABC show 'Roseanne' cancelled after just one season of the revival, despite Barr's claims that her sleeping pills had caused her to send out the message.

Since she was fired and the show was taken off air, ABC have reportedly been working hard on trying to bring a spinoff to the small screen. One of the ideas said to be leading the pack is to bring a show focusing on Sara Gilbert's character Darlene to the forefront, with many other members of the cast also starring.

ABC Rumoured To Be Announcing 'Roseanne' Spinoff This Week

Roseanne Barr

Roseanne Barr's racist tweet concerning Valerie Jarrett may have seen her ABC series 'Roseanne' cancelled by the network, and the star fired from a number of different places and projects, including her talent agency, but the rest of the show's cast could be given a new lease of life with a spinoff, it's been revealed.

Recent reports have claimed that a lot of work is being done behind-the-scenes at ABC to ensure a spinoff can be created out of all of the chaos, bringing back original writers, showrunner Bruce Helford, and of course the 'Roseanne' cast, minus its titular star. One idea that found its way into the public domain was a show based around Sara Gilbert's character Darlene Conner, but nothing has been made official just yet.

Charlie Sheen Calls For 'Two And A Half Men' Re-Boot Following 'Roseanne' Cancellation

Charlie Sheen Roseanne Barr

American actor Charlie Sheen has called for a re-boot of his highly successful comedy series ‘Two and a Half Men’ in the aftermath of the much-publicised cancellation of ‘Roseanne’ earlier this week.

The 52 year old star famously held down the role of Charlie Harper on CBS’ runaway success ‘Two and a Half Men’ until its seventh season in 2011, when he was fired for erratic behaviour and for publicly criticising the series’ creator Chuck Lorre. Ashton Kutcher stepped in to take Sheen’s place for four more seasons until it finished in 2015.

Sheen tweeted a 2003 script from the show with his character's name ‘Charlie’ written on it, the same day ‘Roseanne’ was given the chop by ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey.

Roseanne Barr Blames Racist Tweet On Sleeping Pill Side Effects

Roseanne Barr

Roseanne Barr has blamed sleeping pills for the tweet in which she compared a former aide of Barack Obama’s to an ape, which resulted in the cancellation of her comedy series ‘Roseanne’.

The 65 year old had successfully revived her formerly much-beloved Nineties comedy series ‘Roseanne’ on ABC earlier this year, with the network green-lighting a second season after the initial run concluded amid great ratings. However, ABC abruptly announced that they were dropping the show earlier this week, after a tweet concerning Valerie Jarrett, a former senior Obama advisor who was born in Iran to African-American parents.

In the subsequent days, Barr has variously apologised and vowed to leave Twitter but also continued to dig her hole even deeper.

Robert De Niro Blasts Donald Trump And Roseanne Barr

Robert De Niro Donald Trump Roseanne Barr

Robert De Niro has sounded off about Donald Trump again, this time taking aim at the president supporters as well as the NRA.

The two-time Oscar winner was speaking an interview ahead of the Tribeca Film Festival 2018, alongside the event’s co-founder Jane Rosenthal this week. He was asked about the success of the recent revival of sitcom ‘Roseanne’, whose writer and star Roseanne Barr is a publicly outspoken Trump supporter.

“I’ve never seen her show before, I didn’t know she was supporting Trump, but I have no interest in that,” De Niro told IndieWire. “We’re at a point with all of us this where it’s beyond trying to see another person’s point of view. There are ways you can talk about that, but we’re at a point where the things that are happening in our country are so bad and it comes from Trump.”

'Roseanne' Comeback Proves Runaway Rating Success

Roseanne Barr

American TV viewers flocked to the long-awaited re-boot of sitcom ‘Roseanne’ earlier this week, making the ABC show a runaway ratings success with an estimated 18.1 million viewers switching on.

More than two decades after its lengthy original run ended, actress and comedian Roseanne Barr’s eponymous show returned to the small screen with an hour-long special on Tuesday night (March 27th).

It was an almost unprecedented success, with 10% more viewers tuning in than for the May 1997 original finale of ‘Roseanne’, which had been going since 1988. Given the massive proliferation in channels, platforms and streaming in the 21 years since it ended, that’s a huge success, and one that ABC’s Entertainment president Channing Dungey hailed as proof that broadcast TV wasn’t dead.

Brant decides to explore the real dangers of the social networking site, as well as the positives that have come out of it, and the frank absurdities of it. He explores how Facebook has created a narcissistic civilisation obsessed with 'selfies' and having as many 'friends' as possible, how it lays bare people's personal information so blatantly that criminals are able to spy on your property and even demonstrates the weirdness of acting how you would on Facebook in real life. He also tries to make contact with Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg to get to the bottom of what Facebook is really all about.

Roseanne Barr Launches Twitter Tirade Against Hollywood, Admits Mental Health Issues

Roseanne Barr Anderson Cooper Alec Baldwin

Roseanne Barr has shocked the Twittersphere with a series of angry, unhinged and profanity-laced tweets where the 6-year-old comedian unleashed her apparently true feelings towards Hollywood. "I'm never going to work in television again. I'm never going to even attempt it. I feel as if I've been insulted/assaulted for over a year," she wrote, launching a slew of fury towards those she feels wronged by.

The rant was seemingly sparked after creative difficulties with the sitcom Barr is creating for US network NBC with Nurse Jackie creator Linda Wallen arose. "I don't have the emotional stability to withstand being manipulated and lied to anymore-now that I'm old," Roseanne tweeted, referencing apparent difficulties she had in the development process for her new show.
