ROSIE O'DONNELL is definitely heading back to 'The View.'

The 52 year-old comedienne was announced as the new co-host of the ABC daytime talk show on Thursday (July 10th) by the television network.

'The View's' official Twitter page first confirmed the news to fans.

"It's official! ABC confirms Rosie O'Donnell returns as co-host of #TheView w/ moderator Whoopi Goldberg for Season 18," the tweet read.

Earlier this week it was heavily reported that O'Donnell was involved in "active negotiations" with ABC executives to secure a deal for her return to season 18.

She was previously a co-host for the show only for one year back in 2007.

O'Donnell has likely filled a vacant space left by co-hosts Jenny McCarthy and Sherri Shepherd as they will not be returning for the next season, which left Whoopi Goldberg as the only panellist left.

With this new addition confirmed, one thing fans can expect is lots of fireworks, which is what occurred when she made a special appearance on the show this past February.

O'Donnell quickly engaged in a rather awkward confrontation with fellow host, Barbara Walters, who has since retired. The pair were disputing the backlash they receive from the public when saying something people didn't want to hear.

However, one person not happy with O'Donnell reprising her co-hosting duties is her former colleague, Elizabeth Hasselbeck.

Earlier this week, the 37 year-old called into 'Fox & Friends,' the show she now hosts after leaving 'The View' in 2013, while on vacation and brought up an old grudge she had with O'Donell. Hasselbeck branded the funny actress a "woman who spit in the face of our military" and "spit in the face of her own network," before speculating, "I think this has been in the works for a long time."
