Singer Rufus Wainwright is "touched" by plans to honour his late mother KATE MCGARRIGLE at a British music festival in June (10).
Folk singer MCGarrigle was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer in 2006 and died in January (10), at the age of 64.
And the star's son Wainwright, who has revealed his latest album All Days Are Nights: Songs for Lulu was inspired by his mum's battle with the disease, is moved to hear folk legend Richard Thompson is putting together a set in honour of MCGarrigle at the Meltdown festival in London.
Wainwright tells BBC's 6 Music, "A lot of people are coming in for that. One of the artists that I can mention for sure is the wonderful Richard Thompson and apparently his first request was to do something for Kate so I was very, very touched by that."
