It was another glitzy night in London’s Leicester Square last night as the area, so accustomed to Hollywood A-listers, hosted another U.K premiere. It was the stars of 'Noah' waltzing down the red carpet and talking to the press this time ahead of this Friday’s release of Darren Aronofsky’s biblical epic.

Noah Russell CroweRussell Crowe stars in 'Noah'

The film stars Russell Crowe as the titular Noah, with Emma Watson playing his adopted daughter Elah. Despite staunch opposition from many religious groups and numerous re-edits from the film’s studio, Aronofsky managed to put out the film he intended, and the critics have been kind, filing reviews to the tune of 75% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Noah’s star-power - combined with a positive critical response – should see the film top the box office this weekend. Neil Burger’s ‘Divergent’ will be doing its best to spoil the party but a high profile mauling from the press denouncing this film as a flop could seriously hurt its chances.

Crowe was quick to comment on the film’s religious content, given that it’s the most contentious aspect and the fulcrum for every interview given surrounding the project. He said: "It has something for people of faith and people who don't have faith. It's an intense experience. You come out of it wanting to have a chat. That's the best part of a movie when that sort of thing happens."

Jennifer Connolly, who plays Naameh in the film, also spoke to the press on the red carpet. "I think it's a story from the Bible and the stories are timeless and the themes are universal,” she said. “I think for people from different backgrounds, different parts of the story will resonate with them in different ways. I think a lot things will resonate in particular with audiences. I know that it was very important to Darren that it feel quite pertinent to a lot of people.”
