Ryan Gosling is interested in taking the only major male role in Paul Feig's Ghostbusters 3, while Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Stone are also being sought for parts. Ryan Gosling has met with Marvel Studios executives to discuss the possibility of taking the lead in Doctor Strange - a role that was previously discussed with Joaquin Phoenix. Recently, Freddie Prinze Jr. revealed that he thought Kiefer Sutherland was ‘the most unprofessional’ person he’d ever worked with during his time on the hit show 24 in 2010. While promoting his new Disney XD series Star Wars Rebels at the San Diego Comic-Con, the 38-year-old explained that he took a hiatus from Hollywood as a result of his difficulty playing Cole Ortiz on 24.

It would seem, then, that actors are often a lot better at their profession than we give them credit for. While viewers watch scenes of love, tenderness, friendship and camaraderie, backstage, certain actors have all sorts of problems with each other.

Twitter Explodes Over Ryan Gosling's Baby News: Five Other Celebrity Crushes You Have No Chance With

Ryan Gosling Eva Mendes Brad Pitt Angelina Jolie Cara Delevingne Tom Hiddleston Taylor Swift

Hey girl, did you know that Ryan Gosling is about to be a dad? Neither did anyone else until this week, but when he and girlfriend Eva Mendes broke the news, the internet exploded with highly inappropriate amounts of “grief.” Well, it was mostly just Twitter. Well, mostly just overdramatic Gosling and Notebook fans. But in honor of these poor lovestruck souls (you can read some choice tweets below) we’ve compiled a list of five other people you are never going to date – no matter how much you’d like to.

Ryan Gosling
Gosling and Mendes got together in 2011, so he's technically been off the market for some time now.

Brad Pitt or Angelina Jolie. When asked to choose between this power couple, most people would be fine with either. Jolie is intelligent, charitable, worldly and stunning. Brad Pitt, even after his hey-day is… how do we put this delicately… hot, not to mention a creative and business-savvy force to be reckoned with. Fortunately for them, they seem to have found a good thing – lasting marriage, a whole litter of children and thriving careers to boot. Unfortunately for us, this means that both are off the market for good. The same largely applies to Beyonce and Jay Z, by the way.

Eva Mendes Ryan Gosling

Eva Mendes could be seven months pregnant with Ryan Gosling's baby, unconfirmed reports have suggested. As well as expecting a child, the couple could also be gearing up to get married very soon, if reports from OK! Magazine are to be believed.

"Eva is thrilled. She's been ready for motherhood for a while now, and to be sharing this experience with Ryan is a dream come true for her," an insider told the US magazine.

The source underlined the potential significance of fatherhood for Gosling, saying "The source continued, "Ryan grew up without a dad, so he always said when he had kids, he'd be there no matter what. This is it for him."

Ryan Gosling & Rachel McAdams 'Screamed' At Each Other Whilst Filming 'The Notebook'

Ryan Gosling Rachel McAdams Nick Cassavetes

Everyone may rave about Ryan Gosling's chivalrous portrayal of Noah Calhoun in The Notebook but he was hardly as gallant off screen with his co-star Rachel McAdams. The Notebook's director, Nick Cassavetes, spoke to VH1 about how Gosling and McAdams got on whilst filming the 2004 romantic drama. Apparently it wasn't well!

Rachel McAdams
Rachel McAdams starred in The Notebook as Allie.

Gosling and McAdams dated for two years after they had met on the set of the Notebook but it wasn't always smooth sailing for the couple as Cassavetes described. Gosling reportedly demanded McAdams be removed with the set as he was struggling to work with her and even wanted a stand in actress to run lines with. Cassavetes tells of one incident in which the pair was not getting on well and Gosling asked him to remove McAdams from the set. He even requested another actress be brought in so he could practise his lines.

What Chemistry? Ryan Gosling And Rachel McAdams Fought During ‘The Notebook’ Filming

Rachel McAdams Ryan Gosling Nick Cassavetes

The Notebook has just turned ten, bringing the classic romance movie back into the headlines with a deluge of new interviews and trivia regarding the film. Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams, who play the couple central to the movie adaptation's story, have long been considered as one of the most powerful onscreen couples.

Adapted from the novel of the same name by Nicholas Sparks, the story charts two lovers who fall in love during the early 1940s. Local country boy Noah Calhoun and heiress Allie Hamilton embark on a romance despite a myriad of issues, including the implications of their different classes and disapproval of Allie's parents.

The chemistry between the pair was so intense that the actors dated in real-life after wrapping filming. However, director Nick Cassavetes has now revealed that the two didn't exactly hit it off during filming. "Maybe I'm not supposed to tell this story, but they were really not getting along one day on set. Really not," he told VH-1.

Ryan Gosling Jc Chasez

A young Ryan Gosling taking acting advice from former ’N Sync-er Jc Chasez? No, this is not another Ryan Gosling fantasy we’ve dreamed up to make him seem even more adorable, it actually happened and we’ve seen the video to prove it.

Ryan GoslingRyan Gosling got his start on Disney's 'Mickey Mouse Club'

Long before The Notebook star Ryan was Hollywood’s leading heartthrob and JC was dancing in sync with Justin Timberlake, these two budding stars were getting their first taste of fame as members of Disney’s 'Mickey Mouse Club'. Yes, in 1993 a 12 year old Ryan was a Mouseketeer on the children’s series, alongside Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. But during his two year stint on the show, young Ryan didn't get as much screen time as some of his fellow cast members, allegedly because the “other children were considered more talented.” Clearly, the Disney environment wasn't the best place for Gosling’s brooding charm to first make an appearance.

Clint Eastwood made his name as an actor in movies about the Old West, before going on to become one of the most renowned directors in the movie biz. Matthew McConaughey Was Far From First Choice In 'Dallas Buyers Club' Casting [Trailer]

Matthew Mcconaughey may have pulled off the performance of his career in Dallas Buyers Club but the actor apparently had to convince the movie's directors that he was the right guy to take on the role of entrepreneurial AIDS victim Ron Woodroof.

Matthew McConaughey Was Far From First Choice To Play Ron Woodroof.

Looking at the series of cheesy rom-coms that McConaughey has padded out his career with, it's fairly easy to see why director Jean-Marc Vallee was at first sceptical about casting the classically handsome, all-American beefcake actor. "I wasn't sure about Matthew at first," said Vallee to THR. "Mr. The Most Handsome Man With Muscles? Then I met him and found a man who really wanted to change perceptions and have new challenges in his career."

Seduced And Abandoned Review

Excellent

Anyone interested in how movies get made will love this feisty behind-the-scenes documentary, which uses sharp comedy to explore the messy business side of cinema. Both smart and very funny, it may not tell us much that we don't know (mainly that it's almost impossible to get a film financed unless it's a blockbuster with bankable stars), but it reveals things in ways that make us wonder about the future of the movies.

The film follows actor Alec Baldwin and director James Toback as they head to the Cannes Film Festival to secure funding for their planned Iraq-set riff on Last Tango in Paris. They meet with a variety of experts who tell them that their hoped-for budget is three times too high for a movie starring Baldwin and Neve Campbell. So they talk to Chastain, Bejo and Kruger about taking over the lead role. They also consult with a range of prominent filmmakers including Scorsese, Coppola, Polanski and the Last Tango maestro himself, Bertolucci. But the more time they spend with the people who control the money, the more they wonder if their movie will ever get made.

It's fairly clear from the start that Last Tango in Tikrit is a joke project, but everyone takes it seriously. And as they talk to prospective investors, Baldwin and Toback consider adjusting the film to get more cash by, for example, shooting scenes in Russia or China. It's fascinating to hear these billionaires offer advice on how to get their movie made. And hilariously, no one worries about Baldwin's insistence that the story requires explicit sexual scenes.

Scott Eastwood Circling '50 Shades' Role? Does Anyone Still Care?

Scott Eastwood E.L. James Matt Bomer Ryan Gosling Ian Somerhalder Sam Taylor-Wood Charlie Hunnam Dakota Johnson

Scott Eastwood, the son of Western movie star Clint Eastwood, is the latest in a long line of names to be associated with the role of Christian Grey in the upcoming, ill-fated film adaptation of EL James' raunchy trilogy, Fifty Shades of Grey. The role has had to be recast after former Grey, Charlie Hunnam, walked out over purported scheduling difficulties.

The New Grey?

At this point in time, been described as the 50 Shades frontrunner pretty much means that you're the only male actor left in Hollywood who hasn't already been associated with the role. The list's too long for us to name them all, but notable rumoured former "frontrunners" have included Ian Somerhalder, Jamie Dorkin, Ryan Gosling and Matt Bomer.

Dakota Johnson Charlie Hunnam E.L. James Sam Taylor-Wood Matt Bomer Alexis Bledel Cillian Murphy Ryan Gosling Brad Pitt

It was going rather well for the Fifty Shades of Grey director Sam Taylor-Johnson and her team: after what seemed like ages they'd managed to pull off a great casting decision, choosing two actors on the cusp of big-time fame. However, they were not only hit by a 90k strong petition telling them their choice was wrong; they had to say goodbye to Charlie Hunnam, AKA Christian Grey, and learn their Anastasia Steele, Dakota Johnson, had a touch of the heebie jeebies too.

Dakota Johnson
Dakota Johnson Could Be Thinking Of Leaving '50 Shades.'

Sons of Anarchy star Hunnam's exit was confirmed earlier this week due to an "immersive TV schedule" that would prevent the actor from being able to fully prepare for the role of Christian Grey. The film took a hit, author EL James sent her best, and fans began to wonder whether Hunnam had secretly been influenced by the petition launched to replace him and Johnson with Matt Bomer and Alexis Bledel.

Mystery Over Muscle: Benedict Cumberbatch Beats Gosling And Cavill In Sexiest Movie Star Poll

Benedict Cumberbatch Henry Cavill Ryan Gosling Bradley Cooper Tom Hiddleston Emma Watson

Benedict Cumberbatch has been crowned sexiest movie star in an unlikely turn of events whereby he raced ahead of typical heartthrobs Henry Cavill, Ryan Gosling and Bradley Cooper in an Empire poll.

The 'Star Trek Into Darkness' star isn't the most likely sex symbol of Hollywood, but the Brit definitely proved to be best after he was picked by 50,000 more fans than any of the other movie screen hotties. Perhaps the people of the world prefer the mysterious, intelligent look these days - or maybe it's just the accent as 'The Avengers' star Tom Hiddleston came in at second place.

We're surprised at the outcome as 'Man Of Steel' hunk Henry Cavill and 'The Place Beyond the Pines' cutie Ryan Gosling looked like dead certs to receive the honour, with the latter's numerous onscreen romances (we all remember 'The Notebook') and the former's portrayal of Superman, one of the most charming characters ever created.

Ryan Gosling's tattoos. Yeah you've googled them. If you like tattoos and you like curling up in front of a Ryan Gosling movie with a big bowl of popcorn, than you've googled Ryan Gosling's tattoos. But do you know the story behind them?

Well, one of them is a bit of a DIY job in which Gosling tried to draw a monster's hand dropping a bloody heart. The other is a ghostly lady, which looks pretty cool, but there's a real behind the third.

It's the recognizable cover of the children's book, The Giving Tree, which Gosling's mother used to read him as a youngster. The picture book written and published by Shel Silverstein has been translated to numerous languages, though remains one of the most divisive books in children's literature.

Zack Snyder Ryan Gosling Josh Brolin Joe Manganiello Max Martini Matthew Goode Superman Batman

The question on every DC fans lips since director Zack Snyder announced plans for the next Superman film, which will feature Batman, is who will play the caped crusader? Christian Bale, who starred in the Dark Knight trilogy, is definitely out of the running as he has no interest in reprising the role.

Here's what we know about the film so far: Snyder announced at last month's San Diego Comic-Con that a sequel is in the works and will star Henry Cavill as Superman. The script is currently being written by David Goyer, who wrote Man of Steel. The film is due to be released in cinemas in 2015, with filming scheduled to begin next year. Owing to the film's tight schedule, reports are suggesting Snyder's casting decisions will be revealed in the next few weeks.

Only God Forgives Review

Excellent

Audiences expecting Drive 2 from this reteaming of Gosling and Winding Refn will be disappointed: this is a stylishly original movie that refuses to play by the rules. It's a very dark revenge thriller that unfolds like a surreal, blood-soaked dream as it spirals toward an ending that can't possibly be happy. And even though it's difficult to identify with anyone on-screen, the film is emotionally riveting.

Winding Refn sets the story in Bangkok, with Gosling starring as Julian, a passive guy who's working for his older drug-dealing brother Billy (Burke). But when Billy kills a teen prostitute in a drugged stupor, a nasty cycle of revenge begins. Detective Chang (Pansringarm) allows the victim's father (Wattanakul) to avenge her death, which comes at a price. So as Julian seeks his own vengeance, he understands that Chang is the real villain here. Then Julian's mother Crystal (Scott Thomas) turns up, refusing to listen to reason as she storms into the situation and makes everything much, much worse.

Using an Eastern sense of karma, Winding Refn throws Julian, Crystal and Chang into a torturous deathmatch. Events unfold with very little dialog, which emphasises the lurid colours and densely shadowed settings. Expertly shot and edited, the film is awash in ambiguity, making it feel like a David Lynch movie in which much of what we're watching is an absurd nightmare. And even as the morality gets increasingly murky, the film never preaches to us. It's challenging, provocative and extremely unsettling.

Henry Cavill: "It's 'Essential' Lois Lane Knows Clark Kent As Superman"

Henry Cavill Ryan Gosling Chris Pine Superman

Henry Cavill has given the first hint at the possible plot direction for the Batman vs Superman movie, telling io9.com that Lois Lane must discover Clark Kent's secret for the franchise to remain realistic.

"...if we're trying to base it [on] reality, there's no way that Lois has these direct interactions with Superman, and then doesn't recognize Clark sitting next to her in the office," Cavill quite rightly asserted at Comic-Con, "If she falls in love with Superman, and she's ignoring a guy who looks just like Superman, behaves just like him, and has the same kind of mannerisms and behavior, then what does that say about Lois? I like this relationship. She saves him just as much as he saves her."

Has Cavill just hit the nail on the head? It's an issue that has plagued superhero movies for years. In the modern age of movies, filmmakers simply cannot treat audiences like idiots any longer. Lois Lane knows Clark Kent is Superman. She does. So let's see it play out on screen.

Ryan Gosling attended a meeting with a view to playing Luke Skywalker's son in Jj Abrams forthcoming Star Wars Episode 7 movie, according to the Latino-Review, which 'broke' the news that Harrison Ford would be returning to the franchise.

Disney is keen to land Gosling for the role though missed out on another high profile star.

Is 'Batman Vs. Superman' The Title Of New DC Comics Movie?

Henry Cavill Christian Bale David S. Goyer Zack Snyder Ryan Gosling

After Zack Snyder's Comic-Con announcement that Batman and Superman would meet on screen for the first time in a 2015 Warner Bros. movie and sequel to 2013's Man of Steel, there's now fresh knowledge from screenwriter David S. Goyer that the production team are mulling over a few specific titles. "We're already in pre-production," Goyer told a Comic-Con panel on Sunday. "(The film) comes out in summer of 2015 ... We're actually not sure whether the title is 'Superman vs. Batman' or 'Batman vs. Superman,' but yes, it's that rematch, that combination, the two guys onscreen and that's happening," as reported by the NY Daily News. The franchise will apparently eventually build up to match Marvel's Avengers movies with DC Comics' Justice League of America team that should also include Wonder Woman, Flash and Aquaman.

Zack Snyder Teases Fans With New Movie Concept.

Superman vs. Batman/Batman vs. Superman certainly gets the point across well: two opposing forces fighting it out. But to juxtapose the two characters in such a way seems a bit blunt; not least the question of superiority to whichever superhero's name comes first in the title. Secondly, the 'vs.' part implies the combatants represent antithetical concepts: good vs. evil, light vs. dark, heroes vs. villains, etc.

Ryan Gosling, Joseph Gordon-Levitt In Frame To Become New Batman

Ryan Gosling Joseph Gordon-Levitt Christian Bale Brad Pitt Zack Snyder Henry Cavill

Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Ryan Gosling are leading the race to become the new Batman, following the announcement at Comic-Con that both Superman and the Caped Crusader will unite for the first time on-screen.

Following the success of Man of Steel, it is likely that Henry Cavill will return as Superman, though with Christian Bale announcing his departure from the Batman franchise, the race is on for one of Hollywood's hottest roles.

As it stands, bookmakers Paddy Power have Joseph Gordon-Levitt as the 3/1 favourite to play the role, though many would regard it as an odd choice, given his role as 'Robin' in The Dark Knight Rises.

Ryan Gosling Has Just 17 Lines In Five-Star 'Only God Forgives' [Pictures]

Ryan Gosling Kristin Scott Thomas Nicolas Winding Refn

Ryan Gosling's new movie Only God Forgives has received a slew of five-star reviews following its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, though the bankable American star has just 17 lines in the violent thriller. Gosling plays a Bangkok boxing ring owner seeking revenge in Nicolas Winding Refn's latest film, which boasts another pulsing soundtrack by Clint Martinez.

In his review of the film, the Guardian's film critic Peter Bradshaw said, "It is ultraviolent, creepy and scary, an enriched-uranium cake of pulp, with a neon sheen," adding, "Only God Forgives will, understandably, have people running for the exits, and running for the hills. It is very violent, but Winding Refn's bizarre infernal creation, an entire created world of fear, really is gripping." Gosling's lack of dialogue allows Kristin Scott Thomas - one of the greatest of her generation - to thrive, and the British-French actress steals the movie away from her popular co-star. She was in attendance at the photo-call for the movie at Cannes, though Gosling chose not to attend.  "I can't believe that I'm not in Cannes with you," the actor wrote in a letter which was read out by Cannes director Thierry Fremaux at a press conference this week, "I was hoping to be coming but I am in the third week of shooting my movie. I miss you all. Nicolas, my friend, we really are the same, simply in different worlds and I am sending you good vibrations. I am with you all." Err, yeah, fair enough Ryan.

His absence is a blow to the festival, with organisers probably banking on the popular Hollywood star as one of marquee names.

Joss Whedon Hints At Quicksilver And Scarlet Witch For 'The Avengers 2'

Joss Whedon The Avengers Ryan Gosling Mila Kunis

Joss Whedon has hinted that the brother-sister comic book duo of Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch could feature in The Avengers 2. "I've got these two characters, two of my favourite characters from the comic book, a brother-sister act," he told Yahoo at the Iron Man 3 premiere, "They're in the movie."

Though he didn't directly reference Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch - and other siblings in the Marvel Universe include Aurora and Nothstar - the brother and sister are considered the most likely characters. Andrea and Andreas von Strucker, the villains collectively known as Fenris, are also twin brother and sister. There had been some speculation as to whether Marvel owned the rights to Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver (given that they're essentially X-Men chatacters) though during an interview with Hey U Guys, studio boss Kevin Feige said, "It's a little complicated. If they want to use them in an X-Men movie they could, if we want to use them in an Avengers movie we could. So that's that then.

Despite originating in the X-Men stories, the characters have actually played a central role in many of the biggest Avengers storylines. The question now is of course, who will play the brother sister team? Ryan Gosling? Mila Kunis? Is there anyone left who hasn't yet played a comic-book hero in either X-Men or The Avengers?

The Place Beyond The Pines Review

Excellent

Mainstream audiences may be disappointed that this isn't a gritty thriller pitting the acting talents of Gosling and Cooper against each other, as it's instead a boldly artful, often moving drama. The three-part structure may soften the emotional punch, but a raw script and intimate direction let the actors find real resonance in every scene.

The title is a loose translation of the Mohawk word Schenectady, the New York town where the story is set. In the first section, carnival stunt rider Luke (Gosling) returns to town and tries to rekindle a previous fling with Romina (Mendes). When he discovers that his last visit produced a son, he decides to leave the circus and settle down, taking a job with a local mechanic (Mendelsohn). To make some extra cash, the two team up to rob banks, which puts Luke on a collision course with beat cop Avery (Cooper), who has a wife (Byrne) and young son of his own. Years later, their now-teen sons Jason and AJ (DeHaan and Cohen) discover a past connection they knew nothing about.

To explore the generational ramifications of these men's actions, the film switches perspective twice, first from Luke to Avery and finally to Jason and AJ. But the script never simplifies anyone into "good" or "bad": these are complex people facing difficult situations the best way they can. And sometimes their choices lead to tragic consequences. With this structure, though, the characters are somewhat fragmented, and only Avery emerges as a fully rounded figure, giving Cooper the best role in the film as he becomes unable to work out what is right and wrong, even though he knows it in his gut.

Anna Kendrick Tweet Goes Viral. You Did WHAT At A Ryan Gosling Movie, Anna?

Anna Kendrick Ryan Gosling Eva Mendes

That Anna Kendrick Tweet about Ryan Gosling? Yup, that went viral. For those of you that haven’t seen the tweet, which got re-tweeted like crazy last night, the seemingly butter-wouldn’t-melt Scott Pilgrim actress posted a racy tweet about the actor Ryan Gosling, to her 669,000 followers, who then helped her out a little by spreading the word.

The ‘offending’ tweet (although it seems most people saw the funny side, read “Ugh – NEVER going to a Ryan Gosling movie in a theater again. Apparently masturbating in the back row is still considered inappropriate.” Move over Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, Anna Kendrick’s wit is sharpening and if she’s got any more snappy jokes like that up her sleeve, we reckon she’d be the perfect choice for next year’s Golden Globes. The tweet has already been re-posted over 28,000 times and marked as a favorite tweet over 23,000 times and will have gained Hendrick quite a few new followers.

Hendrick isn’t a very avid tweeter and hasn’t posted anything since last night, though frankly, if you had had such a great response to a single tweet, you’d probably just lie back and bask in your own social media success for while, would you not? When she’s not ‘enjoying herself’ at Ryan Gosling movies, Kendrick is preparing for the release of forthcoming movie Get A Job, in which she stars alongside Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston. And presumably, praying for the end of Ryan’s relationship with Eva Mendes.

Anna Kendrick's Tweet About Ryan Gosling Shows No Sign Of Slowing Up

Anna Kendrick Ryan Gosling Edgar Wright

Anna Kendrick's tweet about Hollywood hunk Ryan Gosling went viral this week and shows no signs of slowing up, having been re-tweeted over 7,000 times in less than 24 hours. The racy message has now been shared by Twitter users 20,713 times and has been favourited over 23,000 times.

In case you hadn't heard, the 27-year-old Pitch Perfect actress tweeted, "Ugh-NEVER going to a Ryan Gosling movie in the theatre again. Apparently sitting in the back row and masturbating is still considered 'inappropriate'." The tweet - posted at 10.45am on Monday - lit up the internet and received a slew of replies almost immediately. One user joked, "The hell it is! I do that at Gosling movies and I never get in trouble," while another suggested, "They should put this in the trailers for Gangster Squad to get people to watch. Best testimonial yet." A pretty good idea considering the movie has a dismal score of 34% on Rotten Tomatoes - the New York Times critic A.O Scott said, "Gangster Squad would have been more fun as an animated feature, with fanciful animals in the principal roles." Kendrick - who has over 600,000 followers on the micro-blogging site - has not posted since the tweet in question.

Despite her love for Gosling, she has been in a relationship with the Hot Fuzz director Edgar Wright since 2009.

Anna Kendrick's Inappropriate Ryan Gosling Tweet Goes Viral!

Anna Kendrick Ryan Gosling Eva Mendes Edgar Wright

Anna Kendrick lit up the internet on Monday (January 12, 2013), tweeting a deadpan and frankly hilarious message about her love for Hollywood hunk Ryan Gosling. The 27-year-old has starred alongside the likes of George Clooney, Joseph-Gordon Levitt and Robert Pattinson, though it appears Kendrick is longing for a starring role alongside everyone's favourite leading man, Gosling.

Kendrick tweeted, "Ugh-NEVER going to a Ryan Gosling movie in the theatre again. Apparently sitting in the back row and masturbating is still considered 'inappropriate'". Posted at 10.45am on Monday, the message has been re-tweeted 20,713 times and favourited over 17,000 times. Replies to the surprising tweet began flooding in almost immediately, with one user saying, "HAHAHAHA you're actually amazing omg. I wish you followed your fans cause I would DIE to be followed by you!" Another user - Emily Higgins - had an ingenious idea, saying, "They should put this in the trailers for Gangster Squad to get people to watch. Best testimonial yet." Not a bad idea, considering Gosling's new movie is garnering less than impressive reviews. Finally, Scuba Cat offered the less helpful, "Wow I love you."

Despite the tweeting, a date probably isn't on the cards, given Kendrick has been linked to the Hot Fuzz director Edgar Wright since 2009. Gosling also seems pretty infatuated with actress Eva Mendes too. Oh well.

Gangster Squad Review

Very Good

This may be based on a true story, but the filmmakers never bother exploring the complexities of historical events, instead opting for a comic book-style approach that's entertaining but somewhat unsatisfying. Still, this style-over-substance approach at least produces a rollicking police thriller that's often a lot of fun to watch, packed with gifted actors who gleefully chomp through the scenery.

The setting is 1949 Los Angeles, where the notorious gangster Mickey Cohen (Penn) is launching a Chicago-style mob takeover of the city. The police chief (Nolte) is determined to stop him, but feels surrounded by corruption, so he hires straight-arrow detective John (Brolin) to head up a secret squad that will operate off the books to stop Cohen, whatever it takes. John's pregnant wife (Enos) isn't thrilled by this, but she helps him select his team: techie Conway (Ribisi), gunslinger Max (Patrick), hot-shot Coleman (Mackie) and quick-learning rookie Navidad (Pena). And then there's pretty-boy detective Jerry (Gosling), who courts danger by launching a fling with Mickey's moll Grace (Stone). Understandably, their task doesn't go smoothly.

Billed as the untold story of what really happened, the film ignores quite a few key facts while indulging in implausible plotting and overly colourful characterisations. In other words, it's impossible to believe anything we're watching, which eliminates all of the relevance and resonance that could have filled this story of police corruption, out-of-control capitalism and especially the use of illegal methods to do the right thing. Instead, the film is all shiny surfaces, with flashy production design, too-immaculate costumes and haircuts, and a plot that reduces a complex situation into a simplistic action movie narrative.

Star-Studded Wedding: It's congratulations to Star Wars creator George Lucas and his long-time girlfriend Mellody Hobson, who have announced they are to marry. No date or location has been set, though it could be a pretty big few years for the veteran filmmaker, what with the revival of a certain movie franchise.

The Place Beyond The Pines Trailer

Luke Glanton is a stunt motorcyclist who currently works with a carnival where he performs numerous death defying feats for just a small pay cheque.  When the carnival reach Schenectady, New York, he becomes increasingly determined to find his long lost love Romina who he idiotically broke contact with for over a year. However, when he finds her, he discovers that she has only recently given birth to a baby boy who happens to be his son, though she was reluctant to contact him about it because of feeling abandoned by him. He winds up being persuaded to help out in an armed bank robbery to bring in the cash but is immediately hunted by the police for his involvement. Wait, Has Henry Cavill Signed On For Fifty Shades Of Grey?

Henry Cavill Ryan Gosling Mark Wahlberg Michael De Luca Daniel Craig Ian Somerhalder Michael Fassbender

As Hollywood rolls into awards' season, the head honchos at Universal Pictures and Focus Features are probably busy plotting for 2013 having landed the rights to the Fifty Shades of Grey movie. Warner Bros, Sony Pictures, Paramount and Mark Wahlberg's company all placed bids for the rights in one of fiercest movie bidding wars of recent times. Despite the general critical mauling of E.L. James book (though massive sales figures), the movie boasts a pretty impressive team. The Social Network producers Michael De Luca and Dana Brunetti have signed on while Terra Nova's Kelly Marcel will pen the script.

But that's all the boring stuff. We want to know who's playing Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele right? Murmurings around Hollywood suggest Ryan Gosling is pretty much everyone's first choice to play the wealthy protagonist. Universal want Gosling, the producers want Gosling, the fans want Gosling, hell, Gosling probably wants the role himself. Irish bookmaker Paddy Power have the Drive actor as 2/1 favourite, though one man threw a pretty giant spanner into the works this week. He's the third favourite with the bookmaker, he plays Superman in the forthcoming movie Man of Steel. He is Henry Cavill

The 29-year-old British actor - who screen-tested for the role of James Bond before Daniel Craig got the part - discussed Fifty Shades of Grey during a recent interview with Details magazine. When quizzed as to whether he would take the role, Cavill gave a curious answer. Whereas Gosling, Ian Somerhalder and Michael Fassbender have coyly laughed off suggestions of becoming Mr Grey, Cavill said, "Whether that happens, that decision will be made at the time it has to be made. It would be a very different kind of thing than Man of Steel." The interviewer observed that Cavill spoke in "the measured tones of someone who knows his way around a Hollywood gag order."

Why ‘Skyfall’ Could Land James Bond An Oscar Nomination

Daniel Craig Sam Mendes Javier Bardem Judi Dench Coen Brothers Forest Whitaker Leonardo Dicaprio Ryan Gosling Steven Spielberg Ben Affleck

'Skyfall', the new James Bond movie directed by Sam Mendes, hits cinemas on November 9 and already attention is turning to whether or not the picture could snag a surprise Oscar nomination.

'Oscar bait' is a term often used to describe a movie awash with all the key themes that the Academy so readily rewards. For example, they're suckers for epic dramas (Titanic, Gladiator), romance (Shakespeare in Love, The English Patient) and movies packed full of previous Oscar winners (Traffic, The Kings Speech). Oscar bait movies usually hit cinemas at the same time each year- in November or December, wafting themselves under the noses of the Academy just weeks before nominations are announced.

This year, Sony seems to have thrown 'Skyfall' into the fray as Oscar bait, so does the film have a realistic chance of a nomination? Well, as HitFix.com rightly points out, the movie has attached an Oscar winning director in Mendes, an Oscar winning and three time nominated actor in Javier Bardem and an Oscar winning actress and six-time nominee in Judi Dench. Its screenwriter is a three-time nominee while cinematographer Roger Deakins is a nine-time nominee who is almost certain to scoop the prize come February if industry insiders are to be believed. Deakins - best known for his work on just about every Coen Brothers movie - is revered in the movie business and often considered the finest cinematographer of all time. On top of all this, Skyfall's production designer, art director and second unit director have all been handed nominations in the past: i.e - the movie has all the bases covered.

A smiling George Clooney was seen at the New York premiere of his new film, 'The Ides of March'. A smiling George looks relaxed as he happily poses for photographers. At one point a photographer shouts out 'Mr Clooney', to which George jokingly responds to. George continues his playful banter by cracking jokes and even covering up co-star 's face as he stands in front of the theatrical poster for the film.

George is also heard remarking to a photographer how easy it is for men to dress for a movie premiere, stating that they could wear the same suit. He then jokes that he has seen the interviewer in the same suit before

Drive Review

Extraordinary
Based on the James Sallis novel, this lean, stylish thriller is confidently assembled to pull us into an outrageous series of events. And it's no surprise that Refn won best director at Cannes for his fine work here.

A young Hollywood stunt driver (Gosling) moonlights as a getaway driver, overseen by his mentor Shannon (Cranston), who has just negotiated a partnership with businessman Bernie (Brooks) and his shady partner Nino (Perlman). But the driver's isolated life is breached when he gets to know single mother Irene (Mulligan) and her young son (Leos) who live in his building. And when Irene's husband (Isaac) is released from prison, the driver offers to help clear an old score so he can start with a fresh slate. Of course, nothing goes as planned.
