"It was so surreal to be walking around the universe of Blade Runner," Gosling told the crowd, "The craftsmanship of this film is really on another level. Every location was real.

“Every set was there. Every prop was functional. It was a fully functioning, living, breathing world. And it made it so easy for us in the end because we could just focus on the internal world of these characters because the external world was so realised and full of detail.”

The actor went on to talk about how he saw the original Ridley Scott film, starring Harrison Ford, when he was 13 or 14-years-old. “I was just blown away by how influential this film had been, not only in film but in my reality as well,” Gosling said.

“It’s quite a prophetic film in so many ways. It was a world that had influenced the world I grew up in. To be part of it it’s hard to say how special it was.“

The film was shot in Las Vegas and Gosling added: “I’m not even sure I’m allowed to say I had a good time making it.”

Without giving away too many spoilers, the footage shown depicted Gosling’s, Officer K, in a replicant creation facility run by Jared Leto’s character. It also hinted at sexual tension between K and Joi, played by Ana de Armas.

Blade Runner 2049 hits cinemas on October 6. Alongside Gosling, Leto and Armas, the cast also features Robin Wright, Dave Bautista, Mackenzie Davis and Harrison Ford, reprising his role as Rick Deckard.
