Ryan Reynolds has shared the first official photograph of Deadpool, the upcoming film in which he stars as conflicted anti-hero Wade Wilson A.K.A. Deadpool. Deadpool is notorious for his warped sense of humour and the official photograph is certainly unusual. Reynolds shared the photograph with fans on Twitter on Friday (27th March).

Reynolds is shown in full Deadpool costume reclining on a bearskin rug in front of a fire. Reynolds referenced another Marvel superhero film in his caption, the phrase 'With great power, comes great responsibility', which is frequently quoted in Spiderman. Reynolds slightly altered the phrase to 'With great power, comes great irresponsibility.'

Reynolds continued in his light hearted vein by joking, somewhat mischievously, about the bear skin rug upon which he reclines. "No bears were harmed in the making of this photo. Though many bears likely turned on," Reynolds wrote irreverently on Twitter.

Filming for Deadpool is currently underway in Reynolds' hometown of Vancouver. The 38-year-old actor, who recently became a father to a daughter James with his wife Blake Lively, will reprise his role as Deadpool in the upcoming film. Reynolds previously featured in X-Men: Origins as the anti-hero but his character will now be the subject of a full feature film.

The film has been in the works for a number of years and Reynolds said, in a recent interview with EW, how he was surprised the project is going ahead. He also explained how Deadpool is an unusual character to play, entirely different from any other in the Marvel universe.

"He's [Deadpool's] a character that's aware he's in a film, he's aware that he breaks the fourth wall," Reynolds said in the interview. "I mean, he does certain things that are unlike anything else in the X-Men Universe yet he is a part of the X-Men Universe. So it makes it a little challenging, I think, to find a way. He's so popular-the comic book alone [is] one of the most popular selling comic books of all time so it's exciting to be here shooting it."

Reynolds will star in Deadpool alongside Homeland actor Morena Baccarin (Homeland) and Gina Carano (Fast & Furious 6). They will be directed by Tim Miller, who is making his directional debut with the film.
