Um, Ryan Reynolds was born to play Deadpool, and if you weren’t sure of that already, his first promotional photo will convince you. The *obviously extremely serious* promo pic shows Reynolds, in full Deadpool garb, lounging on a bearskin rug in front of a lit fireplace, a la Burt Reynolds.

To anyone born after 1995, feel free to Google that reference. “With great power, comes great irresponsibility,” Reynolds captioned the photo. He later added, “No bears were harmed in the making of this photo. Though many bears likely turned on,” and also shared the original photo. Good to know, Mr Reynolds. Good to know.

It’s all very much in keeping with the Deadpool tone though. After all, this is the character, who said: “Once, my TV didn’t work. So I kicked it. And it started working again.” So, Deadpool is kinda... well, he’s Deadpool. Look it up.  He’s kind of an assassin, formerly a cancer survivor, whose experimental procedure leaves him  twisted, scarred and super-powered. Also really, really smug. And a bit weird. It’ll be cool, I promise. After all, the movie is being directed by Tom Miller, so we won’t be getting any more of that Green Lantern nonsense, hopefully.
