'American Idol' host Ryan Seacrest introduces the singing show's 'Idol Across America' relay at a press conference in New York City. Before his speech to the audience, a singing group called the Columbia University Glee Club sing an a cappella version of Lady Gaga's hit 'Edge of Glory'.
He explains what the 'Idol Across America' is all about and the show's wish to 'celebrate the phenomenon that has been American Idol and celebrate those fans all over the country that have been a part of our show'. It's a 13 city, 5,000 mile journey handing the 'American Idol' winner's microphone to a star member of each community to run or walk with. After his speech, he is interviewed by various members of the press.
