Sam Smith has penned a new song for Matt Terry.

The 'The X Factor' winner performed the 24-year-old singer songwriter's song 'Writing's On The Wall' during the competition, and has admitted he is honoured the powerhouse has sent over the lyrics to a new track, although he turned down a duet with the champion on the show last year.

Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper about Sam, he said: ''When I did his song it was an amazing moment. So to record a song written by him now is so exciting.''

And the dark-haired hunk - who was in Nicole Scherzinger's Boys category during the music contest - has admitted he had a lot of questions about being a successful artist he wanted to pose to the vocalist.

He previously said: ''What are the chances? It's just crazy. I had a bunch of questions to ask him about his career. It was pretty cool. He's an artist I've listened to since he started and I think his career is just insane.''

And Matt has revealed Sam simply told him to continue doing what he is doing.

Matt explained: ''He told me he'd heard me sing 'I'll Be There', which he thought sounded good. He said to me to just keep doing what I'm doing.''
