According to Cosmopolitan, Johnson made the announcement at a fan event at New York’s Seigfeld Theatre with  author E. L. James and Fifty Shades stars Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson.

Fifty Shades of Grey director Sam Taylor-Johnson’s London home was raided by police on Thursday evening (August 28th), after a passer by spotted a machine gun lying on a desk near a window. The director and her husband, Godzilla star Aaron Taylor-Johnson, have said they were given the deactivated M16 assault rifle 'as part of an art project'.

Lace fans and snuff at the ready, Fifty Shades of Grey fans, because a new promotional photo has been released ahead of the upcoming saucy movie. The brand new close-up features actor Jamie Dornan as lead character Christian Grey and has set author EL James' fans tingling with anticipation for Sam Taylor-Johnson's 2015 adaptation.

Pictured sitting in a car, presumed to be the black Audi R8 Spyder detailed in the books, Grey is intently focussed on something in the middle distance. He seems to have eschewed his smart business attire in favour of a more "civilian" black leather jacket and T-shirt combo.

It's unclear whether Grey's gaze is more seductive or scowly but fans online have been speculating that Grey is staring at Ana Steel, his lover, who is played by Dakota Johnson. Many have read deeper into the photo, asking why the film's team have decided to release this particular shot.

A new promo shot has been released for the upcoming romantic drama Fifty Shades of Grey showing actor Jamie Dornan portraying the movie's male lead, Christian Grey. Posted to celebrate the fictional billionaire's birthday, the shot shows Dornan clad in a leather jacket whilst driving the character's famed black Audi R8 Spyder.

Grey is gazing intently at something with that same brooding, yet slightly unsettling glare that author EL James loves to describe in her saucy trilogy. Adapted by Sam Taylor-Johnson, the 2015 movie will feature Dornan as Grey alongside Dakota Johnson, who will play the story's protagonist and narrator, Ana Steele.

The snap follows the first official promo poster for the film that was revealed on Valentine's Day this year. We see the back of a silhouetted Grey standing in front of a large glass window and looking out over Seattle. The shot was captioned with "Mr. Grey will see you now," referencing the first encounter the two main characters have.

Jamie Dornan has revealed that he has a long-running dissatisfaction with his physique, despite having been a Calvin Klein model and now working on the lead role in the upcoming erotic drama, Fifty Shades of Grey.

Known for his oiled underwear adverts with Eva Mendes, breakthrough role in TV drama The Fall, and small part in 2006's Marie Antoinette, Dornan landed his first lead role in a movie after being cast as the BDSM-loving businessman Christian Grey in Sam Taylor-Johnson's 2015 adaptation of EL James' adult fiction series.

Remarkably, the actor is rather self-deprecating and has revealed that he doesn't quite see what all the fuss over his buff physique is about. "I don't like my physique. Who does? I was a skinny guy growing up, and I still feel like that same skinny kid," the Irish star admitted.

Jamie Dornan was announced as the replacement for the departed Charlie Hunnam to star in the upcoming 50 Shades of Grey movie adaptation weeks ago, earning him one of Hollywood's most attention-grabbing starring roles to appear on the upcoming film radar. Speaking as the cover star for Entertainment Weekly, Dornan addressed the pressures of his upcoming role, as well as the route he took to get to where he is and how he is preparing himself for the role.

This is by far the most high-profile role the Northern Irish actor has been given in his time as an actor, yet this is a project that Dornan says he is looking forward to, rather than one whose gradual approach he is dreading. After taking over from Hunnam after he unceremoniously walked away from the project in mid-October, Dornan has had little time to prepare for his role, but as he explained in the recent interview, he has already begun putting in the work to achieve the right body look for Grey, as well as finding the right mindset to portray a sexually deviant billionaire.

“I certainly don’t fear it,” Dornan began his talk. “I already got a glimpse into working with [director] Sam [Taylor-Johnson] at the test, and I’d met [co-star] Dakota [Johnson] by then. So I had a glimpse into how I felt it would be if I got the part. None of it scared me.”

The much-discussed movie adaptation of 50 Shades of Grey has been hit with a barrage of problems ever since Universal acquired the rights to EL James' erotic novel. With the most recent issue to affect the film - Charlie Hunnam's exit, followed some time after by Jamie Dornan's eventual casting - only recently being resolved, it doesn't really come as too much of a surprise to learn that studio bosses have decided to delay the film's release for another few months.

Originally slated for a 1 August 2014 release, it has since been announced that the film will instead debut in February 2015, coinciding with Valentines Day. Shooting was put back following Hunnam's exit, having originally been slated to begin this month.

The Fifty Shades of Grey auditions were shrouded in mystery - nobody really knew who auditioned, until now of course. With Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson now the proud owners of two of the biggest roles of 2014, the actors and actresses who failed to convince Universal that they were right for Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele are beginning to come out of the woodwork.

Speaking to Cosmopolitan.com at the Alice + Olivia presentation for the New York Fashion Week, Chloe Bridges - best known for her role in The Carrie Diaries - dished on her audition for the role of Anastasia, and it ain't pretty. 

"There were three pages of sides that I was going to audition with," she explained. "I read them and then was like, I really can't do this."

The books have been extremely successful, placing EL James at the top of Forbes richest author list of the last year. However, there has been plenty of criticism too, where James' writing, storyline, characters and just about everything else have come under fire as the book was branded "mommy porn."
