Actress Sanaa Lathan Is Calling On Filmmakers In Hollywood To Diversify Movie Casts, Insisting Audiences Want To See A Reflection Of American Society On The Big Screen.
The Alien vs. Predator star takes issue with films featuring primarily African-American actors being labelled "black movies", because she claims they are simply American films that people of all races want to see.
She tells U.S. news show Access Hollywood, "I've been in the business for 20 years and I've done a lot of movies, from romantic comedies to dramas, and I know for a fact that people of all races see them. It's not a niche thing. Black movies are American movies."
She adds, "Hollywood should reflect the melting pot of America. It's not reflecting that yet... Let's see some more diverse stories on our screens. This is the 21st century. It's time. It's way, way overdue."
