People's Choice Selects Victors: This week saw the annual People's Choice awards handed out and what an evening it was. Hosted by the stellar Two Broke Girls' Beth Behrs and Kat Dennings, the audience were kept laughing whilst a slew of gongs were distributed to the year's finest figures in popular culture. Sandra Bullock emerged as the star of the evening after she won four awards for her roles in Gravity and The Heat, not including the overall film win for the space thriller. The evening also brought tears, drama and scandal as former Vampire Diaries couple Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder hinted during their acceptance speech that things are still very amicable between them whilst singer/actress Jennifer Hudson welled up with emotion when she was honoured with a 'favorite humanitarian award.' Meryl Streep Blasts "Bigot" Walt Disney: Actress Meryl Streep will perhaps go down as one of Hollywood's great eccentrics but the August: Osage County star's heart was in the right place when she lifted the lid on late animator Walt Disney's alleged bigotry, sexism, racism and anti-Semitism in an ire-fuelled speech at the National Board of Review Awards gala. Brit Awards Nominees Announced: The UK's biggest annual music awards ceremony is almost here again and the nominees for the 2014 Brit Awards have been announced. Electro duo Disclosure and rockers Bastille are fighting it out at the top with four nominations apiece whilst Ellie Goulding and Rudimental aren't far behind with three nominations. The international categories look tight this year with notable snubs but Haim, Kings of Leon and Arcade Fire battling it out for best group. Gonna be a close one! SNL Finally Recruits Black Female Actress: Saturday Night Live have announced the arrival of new cast member Sasheer Zamata, who is not only extraordinarily talented but also represents the comedy show's first signing of a black female actress since Maya Rudolph left in 2009. Meanwhile, Kenan Thompson got sick of playing women in drag, guest host Kerry Washington mercilessly lampooned the show for its racial inequalities and a rumble of public discontent reached tipping point. Ke$ha & Pitbull Call "Timber!" On The Competition: Pitbull's new single 'Timber Ft. Ke$ha' has sawed through the other contenders to claim No.1 in the UK official charts. The pair's barn-stomping party tune will have you singing all day, listen to it here. However, the news of her song's chart success has been tainted for Ke$ha who has announced that she's entering rehab in Chicago to combat an eating disorder. "I'm a crusader for being yourself and loving yourself, but I've found it hard to practice," she said in a sorrowful statement. Read more here.

It's never fun when people ridicule your work but 12 Years A Slave director Steve McQueen faced a particularly relentless critic at the New York Film Critics Circle Awards. McQueen won big with his 'Best Director' award but when he headed to the stage to make his speech, New York critic Armond White decided that he hated McQueen's new slavery drama so much that he'd try to knock the shine off the director's glory. Frozen Gives Paranormal Activity The Chills: We're getting pretty tired of typing it but Disney's animated musical Frozen is absolutely owning the Winter box office. Not only has the sweet snow tale seen off competition from The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues and American Hustle, but has now cooled off the challenge from new scary movie, Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones. What's more, the Frozen soundtrack album has stormed to the top spot on the Billboard chart, selling 165,000 copies and bringing such classics as 'Do You Want To Build A Snowman' into car journeys everywhere.
