Sarah Paulson Wants To Play Donald Trump In 'AHS' Season 7

Sarah Paulson

‘American Horror Story’ star Sarah Paulson has expressed a desire to play Donald Trump when the FX anthology series turns to the subject of the American election in its upcoming seventh season.

The 42 year old actress won an Emmy last year for her portrayal of real-life figure Marcia Clark in ‘The People v. O.J. Simpson’, the ‘American Crime Story’ spin-off of Ryan Murphy’s ‘AHS’. Now, it seems she’s intent on doing the same for another real-life person – and this time, an even more divisive one!

The third episode of 'American Horror Story: Roanoke' has arrived and we finally learn the story behind the violent haunting of Shelby and Matt's North Carolina farmhouse. However, little Flora is still missing and things are getting personal. You'd think it would be time to leave the area, but these characters are made of sturdier stuff.

Episode one introduced this season's concept: 'My Roanake Nightmare'. It's basically a televised documentary about Shelby and Matt's paranormal experiences where they are played by Lily Rabe and Andre Holland in the interview segments and Sarah Paulson and Cuba Gooding Jr. in the reenactments. Angela Bassett plays Matt's ex-cop sister Lee.

Sarah Paulson Believes Emmy Is 'Justice' For Marcia Clark

Sarah Paulson

Sarah Paulson is no doubt still reeling after her win at the 68th Primetime Emmy Awards, and that's largely down to not only pride in herself, but also in the real Marcia Clark because she believes that her new gong represents justice in some way for the prosecutor.

Paulson landed Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie for her role as prosecutor Marcia Clark in 'American Crime Story: The People v. O. J. Simpson'. Carol Review

Essential

As in his gorgeous film Far From Heaven and TV series Mildred Pierce, filmmaker Todd Haynes tells a simple story with visual impact and thematic resonance. All three of these projects centre on characters who feel like outsiders in their societies, offering staggeringly complex roles for Julianne Moore, Kate Winslet and now Cate Blanchett. This one is also based on a Patricia Highsmith novel (published originally as The Price of Salt), so it has an added layer of underlying intensity.

The story is set in the run-up to Christmas 1952, as New York department store clerk Therese (Rooney Mara) becomes intrigued by Carol (Blanchett), a glamorous customer who seems unusually attentive. Therese finds a reason to contact her, and the two become friends despite the difference in age and class. Meanwhile, Carol is trying to extricate herself from her marriage to Harge (Kyle Chandler), who is still feeling wounded by Carol's relationship with another woman (Sarah Paulson) and threatens to use her friendship with Therese to deny custody of their young daughter. And Therese also has a nice-guy suitor in Richard (Jake Lacy), who is becoming increasingly suspicious. With all of this pressure on them, Carol and Therese make an impulsive decision to take a road trip together.

The events unfold with delicate precision, as Phyllis Nagy's script smartly allows these woman to circle around each other trying to work out how they feel. There's a gun-in-the-suitcase element that adds a bit of spark, but the real story here plays out between the lines in exquisite performances from Blanchett and Mara, who convey most of their feelings through offhanded glances and subtle gestures. This adds beautifully to the depiction of the period's repressive attitudes without ever being obvious about it, and it also reveals the deep emotions that come with feeling like you don't fit in with what society expects of you.

Cuba Gooding Junior Sarah Paulson

So here’s something that we definitely all needed to see – a revival of the O. J. Simpson story via FX miniseries. The brainchild of American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy, the new miniseries will star Cuba Gooding Jr. as O. J. and Sarah Paulson. It will track O. J.’s drawn out trial, with Paulson playing prosecutor Marcia Clark, according to the Deadline announcement.

Cuba Gooding Jr.
Could this spell a revival for Gooding's lackluster career of late?

It’s called American Crime Story and is an offshoot of Murphy’s highly successful American Horror Story, now in its fourth season. The new anthology miniseries is based on the 1996 book "The Run of his Life: The People v. O.J. Simpson," Jeffery Toobin, a writer for the New Yorker and will run for 10 episodes.

The third season of Brad Falchuk and Ryan Murphy's grisly horror series American Horror Story begun with a suitably bloodcurdling episode of enslavement and torture.

New Year's Eve Review

Terrible
The team that made the thin-but-enjoyable Valentine's Day in 2010 reunites for another massively overextended rom-com with a remarkable A-list ensemble. But this time the stories and filmmaking overdose on ill-conceived schmaltz.

As the countdown to 2012 begins, an executive (Swank) is frazzled about a technical glitch in the iconic Time's Square ball-drop. Meanwhile, a courier (Efron) is trying to help a frumpy secretary (Pfeiffer) achieve her dreams. A chef (Heigl) is catering a glittering event while trying to avoid her rock star ex (Bon Jovi), whose back-up singer (Michele) is stuck in a lift with a lovelorn slacker (Kutcher). A mother (Parker) is worried about her teen daughter (Breslin). And a tuxedoed millionaire (Duhamel) is trying to get to an important event in the city.

Martha Marcy May Marlene Review

Excellent
With a disturbing tone and skilful filmmaking, this insinuating drama completely unsettles us as it delves into the mental life of its central character. And it has a lot to say about how relationships affect us.

After going missing for two years, Martha (Olsen) phones her sister Lucy (Paulson) for help, then goes to stay with Lucy and her husband Ted (Dancy) in a lakeside house. Martha says she's been living with a boyfriend, but actually she was in a cult-like commune with her friend Zoe (Krause), working a farm under the leadership of the charismatic Patrick (Hawkes). Renamed Marcy May, she was coaxed into sharing everything there, including her body, and now she's not quite sure what's real and what isn't. And also whether she actually got away.

The Notorious Bettie Page Review

OK

Whether she knew it or not, Bettie Page was breaking a lot of taboos when she started posing in bondage films and photos (maybe she knew but just decided to not care?). Current trends in modeling, including Dita Von Teese and Suicide Girls, often cite Page as an inspiration for their work. In Von Teese there is a certain comparison, but Suicide Girls, whether they like it or not, are not celebrating taboo. If anything, they are destroying taboo and making everything normal, even the strange and macabre. The trick with Page was that she didn't really see it as a bad thing; she never had it in her mind to exploit the idea of "the bad girl." Whether this was on director Mary Harron's mind when she opted to take on the life story of Bettie Page is up for debate.

Raised in Tennessee to a strict, religious family and a father with a fondness for bathing suit areas, Bettie Page (Gretchen Mol) is set to become a teacher at college when she marries an army man and promptly leaves him when he hits her. After being sexually assaulted by a group of men, she makes her way to New York City to become an actress. The moment of fate comes when an off-duty police officer and amateur photog decides to take her picture. Soon enough, she's being sought out by famous photographers like Bunny Yeager (Sarah Paulson) and specialty photography siblings Irving and Paula Klaw (Chris Bauer and Lili Taylor, respectively). Her friends, mostly male, are astonished by her nonchalant attitude towards nudity and bondage. She just sees it as "silly pictures," but the Senate, led by Senator Estes Kefauver (David Strathairn, absolutely wasted), thinks it's warping the youth of America. Mostly, Bettie just wants to make a nice, God-fearing life for herself with a man who doesn't judge her.
