Scotty Mccreery has emerged as a survivor of a "very scary night" last night when he and a group of friends fell victim to a terrifying armed burglary. The American Idol season ten victor explained the incident in a Facebook post and thanked the police for "their quick response and hard work."

The home invasion took place before 2 a.m. near North Carolina State University's campus, where McCreery is a student. Three armed suspects entered the property and took money, wallets and electronics from multiple victims before leaving all of the victims unscathed, according to Raleigh Police Department, via CNN.

In a 911 call released by police and obtained by ABC11, one of the victims said, "they took everything we have." The person described the dramatic scene, saying "They were like "Get down. Get on the floor and give us everything you got.'" The caller also said they were told to count down from 100 before getting up. Neighbours reported loud yelling and the sound of people charging up stairs.

The 20 year-old country singer, who is finishing his sophomore year, took to social media to inform his fans about what happened and reassure them that he was uninjured in the incident. "About last night's robbery," he began before explaining "Yes, it was definitely a very scary night. Luckily, my friends and I are safe and the Raleigh PD is on the case."

"I will share more when the time is right, but as of now we do not want to do or say anything that could hinder the investigation," Scotty wrote. "Thanks to everyone for the prayers and support. A huge thank you to the Raleigh PD for their quick response and hard work in solving this case," the star added.

McCreery has had three top-selling albums since he won the reality TV show in 2011 and was named best new artist at the Academy of Country Music Awards the next year. He is currently in the middle of his "See You Tonight Tour" with Bakersfield, California, next on the list on the 9th May.
