The rapper was taken into custody in Los Angeles after reportedly swinging a kettlebell weight at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) strength and conditioning coach, Sal Alosi, during an altercation following a practice.

Reports suggest Diddy became upset when he overheard the coach berating his son Justin, a star defensive back.

Combs was subsequently arrested and charged with three counts of assault with a deadly weapon, one count of making terrorist threats and one count of battery.

He was later released from jail, and on Thursday (02Jul15), he caught a break when the Los Angeles County District Attorney rejected the felony case against Combs, according to TMZ.com.

However, the rapper could still face misdemeanour assault charges from the Los Angeles City Attorney - officials have yet to decide if Combs' alleged actions warrant prosecution for a lesser offence.

Combs is scheduled to face the charges in court on 13 July (15) .
