The red-band trailer for 'A Million Ways to Die in the West' is here.
A man getting his head squished by a giant block of ice. A photographer being burnt alive. A woman dying from surgery for a splinter. All these unfortunate endings make up the new movie - and first trailer - for Seth Macfarlane's A Million Ways to Die in the West.

The Family Guy creator directs, co-writes and stars in the western comedy, playing a farmer who enlists the help of a gunslinger's wife (Charlize Theron) in the hope of winning back his ex-girlfriend.
It looks to be a strange old thing. The A Million Ways to Die in the West red-band trailer is loaded with all the expected gross-out moments and slapstick humor found in both Family Guy and Ted and the actors offer no attempt to adopt Western twangs. At one point, MacFarlane's character attempts to placate a group of Native-Americans by saying, "Mila Kunis, Mila Kunis".

The movie actually boasts a pretty impressive cast, including Lian Neeson, Neil Patrick Harris, Sarah Silverman and Amanda Seyfried. From the trailer, it looks as though MacFarlane is on true smarmy form, though it's Giovanni Ribisi who probably offers most hope of this being any good. He has a couple of pretty funny scenes in the trailer and is actually rather underrated as a comedy actor.

Ted was a monumental hit for MacFarlane in 2012, grossing over $550 million on a budget of just $50 million. It followed the life of Mark Wahlberg's character John, who, at 35 is still best friend with his childhood teddy bear Ted. Together, they lounge around their Boston apartment smoking cannabis, drinking and watching TV. Unsurprisingly, a sequel is already in the works.
A Million Ways to Die in the West opens in the US on May 30, and in the UK on June 6, 2014.
