Former Westlife star Shane Filan has revealed that he’s recorded a duet with Girls Aloud’s Nadine Coyle. Though it’s easily a decade since each group was at the peak of its commercial powers, Filan is hoping that the collaboration will attract interest in his new solo album.

Speaking to The Mirror on Tuesday night (September 8th), 30 year old Coyle said: “I’m a huge fan of Shane and used to love listening to his songs growing up. I love the track we’ve done and can’t wait for us to perform it live.”

The song is apparently titled ‘I Could Be’, and comes from Filan’s second solo album Right Here, released on September 25th, which follows his 2013 debut album You and Me. The new track is expected to be released as a single in due course.

Earlier this week, Coyle had teased the news with the statement: “Stay tuned this week for a very special announcement about something I am very excited about.”

Westlife found the peak of their chart success by way of singles in the late ‘90s and early ‘00s, but continued to sell albums by the bucketload throughout their career. They officially split in 2012, and Filan himself filed for bankruptcy following the loss of money in property investments during the property crash in Ireland that year.

Speaking about his brand new single ‘Me and the Moon’, Filan said: “It's a great example of where I want my music to be at… …What I love about it is that it has a universal meaning. It's about losing someone you love, but it could be that you've lost a relationship, or someone has passed away, or you could be miles away from your loved ones on the other side of the world.”
