Continuing its premiere streak in the US, 'Lovelace' arrived in Los Angeles last night (August 5th 2013) with lead star Amanda Seyfried turning heads yet again on the red carpet.

The actress, who plays troubled porn star Linda Lovelace in the movie about her life, left the rouge lippie that she wore for both the Las Vegas and New York premieres at home this time, instead opting for statement smoky eyes and scooping her hair up rather than letting her long locks hang loose in her trademark over-one-shoulder style. The ageless Sharon Stone also impressed on the red carpet, donning a sophisticated black trouser suit, while Juno Temple teamed her suit with bright yellow heels and a T-shirt featuring a cheeky Lovelace-related slogan. A very serious-looking Chris Noth, who stars as Anthony Romano in the movie, also appeared at the event, alongside his fedora-wearing co-star Adam Brody.

Lovelace Trailer

Linda Lovelace was a hugely successful pornographic actress who hit global stardom with her 1972 hardcore film 'Deep Throat'. Although apparently happy, feisty and at ease on the surface, she suffered severe abuse and violence at the hands of her husband and manager Chuck Traynor who forced her into the sex industry at gunpoint; a stark contrast to her previous life, being well-known by her friends for keeping all her previous boyfriends at a good distance. While she apparently seemed to enjoy the highlife of national and international stardom, she made attempts to quit pornography to the anger of Traynor, who did everything he could to frighten her into submission. A vulnerable woman who spent her life being used, and who would go on to be a key figure in later anti-pornography movements.

First Trailer For Amanda Seyfried's Linda Lovelace Biopic Raises Expectations

Amanda Seyfried Sharon Stone Adam Brody Chris Noth Juno Temple James Franco

Anticipation mounted, as the first trailer for Lovelace – the Deep Throat star’s biopic, starring Amanda Seyfried, was released yesterday. The film follows the story of Lovelace’s entry into the porn industry and the reasons behind it, as well as her eventual escape from the business and her abusive husband. It tracks the journey from her humble beginnings in the Bronx and her eventual notoriety, as well as the controversy, surrounding her life and career. Lovelace died in a carcrash 2002, after several decades of advocating against the porn industry.

Amanda Seyfried, Epic Premiere
Seyfried will face the challenging role alongside a talented cast.

The film features a star-studded cast – from Seyfried as Lovelace herself to Peter Sarsgaard as her opportunistic and abusive husband Chuck Traynor. Sharon Stone, Adam Brody, Chris Noth, Chloe Sevigny, Juno Temple and Hank Azaria make appearances in various supporting parts and, of course, where would a 2013 movie be without multi-tasker James Franco. He appears here as a sleazy, but still somehow charming young Hugh Hefner.

The Cannes Jewel Thief Strikes Again, This Time To The Tune Of $2.6 Million

Sharon Stone Paris Hilton

The Cannes jewellery thief is now a serial offender apparently. After last week saw the theft of about a million dollars in Chopard jewels, this week the thief (or thieves) have upped the ante, somehow getting past 80 security guards and hotel staff, to make off with a necklace, reportedly worth 2 million euros (or $2.6 million). Now those are some clever thieves. The piece belonged to Swiss jewellers De Grisogono and was in town for a party for festival attendees at the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc on Tuesday, ABC News reports.

An anonymous police official commented for ABC that the piece was stolen from the exclusive resort town of Cap d'Antibes after the event, which hosted attendees like Sharon Stone and Ornella Mutti. The glamorous evening commemorated Di Grosogono’s 20th anniversary. The theft probably made the occasion even more memorable, though definitely not in the best way.

The police are on the case, but nothing else is known at this point. It isn’t even clear whether the two instances – the Chopard and De Grisogono jewellery thefts – are linked, though it seems like the likeliest scenario. More on this as the story unfolds. As for Cannes attendees – it looks like they should be on their guards.

Cannes Thief Still On The Loose: 2 Million Necklace Missing

Sharon Stone Paris Hilton

Beware: there might be a serial thief on the loose at Cannes. After a million in Chopard jewelry was reported stolen just last week, Reuters reports that this Thursday there was an even bolder theft – a diamond necklace, reportedly worth 2 million euros (or just about $2.6 million). This time, the piece was part of a collection by De Grisogono, an upmarket Swiss jeweler.

Fawaz Gruosi, the founder of the company, explained that the piece was part of an extremely valuable collection, which was displayed at the Hotel Du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes outside Cannes on Tuesday night. Unlike the stolen Chopard pieces, the necklace wasn’t intended for a celebrity or the red carpet of a Cannes premiere, however Sharon Stone and Paris Hilton were among the guests at the glitzy event, where the necklace was displayed.

The necklace, as well as the other pieces, were heavily guarded, with 80 security guards on duty that night, as well as local police, hotel security, and De Grisogono staff. Obviously, the police are baffled, but they’re doing everything they can to retrieve the stolen jewels. "We don't know exactly what happened ... it was one of the most beautiful items we had," Gruosi told Reuters Television. "The police are trying to figure out what happened."

No Clothes, No Problem: Amanda Seyfried Admits To Being Unfazed By Nudie Shots In New Film

Amanda Seyfried Peter Sarsgaard Sharon Stone Hank Azaria James Franco

Amanda Seyfried's next role will see her portray one of the adult film industry's most famous (and tragic) stars in her next film and as you'd imagine, some of the scenes involved the actress rather scantily clad, if not completely nude. Fortunately for Seyfried though, she told Indiewire that she is a-okay with the scenes, and to be perfectly honest so are we (sorry).

The Les Miserables star will be portraying Linda Lovelace, who shot to porn-land fame and rest of the world notoriety when she stared in the 1972 film Deep Throat (no prizes for guessing what it's about). Seyfried admitted to the movie blog that although the nude scenes she and co-star Peter Sarsgaard are involved in were "a little strange," she was still rather unaffected by the whole thing, saying: "[Peter and I] are not shy about our private parts. We also weren't walking around with our genitals out; our bottom half genitals. That might have been a little strange for me. I don't really have any interest in people seeing my vagina. It's just a personal thing. I don't mind seeing other people's vaginas."

"Sex; we all do it," the star refreshingly added, before going on to discuss how she handled the more intimate scenes of the film (she used an icicle) and why she considers Mean Girls her best work still. You'll have to check out the full interview on Indiewire to find out more.

'Risky But It Appealed To Me': Amanda Seyfried Challenges Herself Starring As Porn Actor In 'Lovelace'

Amanda Seyfried Sharon Stone Juno Temple Peter Sarsgaard James Franco

Amanda Seyfriend is fast becoming darling of Hollywood. From humble, though hilarious beginnings in Mean Girls, she moved on to the sweeter than sweet role of Sophie Sheridan in the multi-award winning Mamma Mia!, and to playing Cosette in another extraordinarily successful musical, Les Miserables. Having played such classical or humorous roles, her starring appearance as Linda Lovelace in 'Lovelace' seems a little out of kilter, but as she told the BBC, it was a challenge she couldn't resist.

"It is risky and people did not stop reminding me of that. But I also really wanted a challenge. It appealed to me in that way," she said. Lovelace is about Linda Lovelace, the star of the 1970s porn film Deep Throat in which Lovelace played a woman skilled in "a very advanced form of fellatio," as the Guardian puts it. Lovelace became hot property in the porn market, but when she released her biography in the '80s she portrayed her life as one wrought by an abusive marriage to a man who used hypnosis to force her to make pornography.

Clearly, Lovelace's story was a traumatic one and, while Seyfried said she wanted a challenge, she was perhaps not quite ready for the depth of the challenge that she was embarking on. "I had a hard time letting go of Linda at the end of the movie," she said. "I went places that I couldn't get out of." Also appearing in Lovelace are Sharon Stone, Peter Sarsgaard (playing Lovelace's abusive husband, Chuck Traynor), Chloe Sevigny, Juno Temple, Chris Noth and James Franco. Reviews from its Sundance Film Festival premier have been largely positive, though quisitive. It is expected to reach cinemas in July.

How Could Fitness Freak Andrew Marr, 50, Have A Stroke?

Sharon Stone Samantha Morton Hugh Hefner

Andrew Marr, the 50-year-old BBC presenter and incredibly keen runner, is recovering in hospital after suffering a stroke. The typical stroke patient is often thought of as being elderly, potentially overweight and a smoker - so what stopped the blood from running to Marr's brain correctly?

As the BBC reports, anyone of any age can suffer from a stroke, with 150,000 people in the UK having a stroke each year - a quarter of them are under 65. Risky lifestyle choices increase the chances of a stroke, including smoking, "carrying too much weight around the belly" and being too fond of alcohol. In his high pressure working environment, it is possible that a sudden peak in blood pressure could have caused Marr's stroke, though this has not be confirmed. There is also mixed evidence around the impact of drinking a lot of coffee as well as irregular heartbeats and blood pools in the heart.

The BBC presenter is by no means the only high profile individual to suffer a stroke at an early age. The actress Sharon Stone was 44 when she was hospitalised, while Samantha Morton was even younger at 31. Legendary tennis player Rod Laver was 59 when he suffered a stroke, while Playboy magnate Hugh Hefner was in his late fifties. Dr Clare Walton from the Stroke Association said, "I would say that it is a common misconception that this is a condition of just the elderly. A quarter of strokes are in working-age people and children and babies also have strokes."

Sharon Stone Shakes Off Hospital Visit To Attend Milan Fashion Show

Sharon Stone Roberto Cavalli

Sharon Stone doesn't let things get in her way when there's fun to be had, and the actress proved this when she attended amfAR Milano 2012 last night (September 22nd) just moments after being admitted to a local hospital after suffering from migraine-like symptoms.

The Basic Instinct actress had been complaining of migraine like symptoms and was taken to hospital following a meal with her boyfriend Martin Mica. However, she stepped out on the black carpet later that night looking as though nothing had happened as she dazzled in a specially designed, cleavage bearing leather and lace gown designed by Milan-native Roberto Cavalli.

A spokesperson for the 57-year-old screen beauty told The Daily Mail website that the actress felt as though she should be safe, rather than sorry, after feeling ill and complaining of migraine-related symptoms. The source revealed that the actress was discharged from the hospital with a clean bill of health and revealed that the actress had said, "wild horses couldn't keep her away" from the event.

Actress Sharon Stone (Basic Instinct; Total Recall; The Quick and the Dead) is seen going to a medical building in Los Angeles. Sharon laughs and seems flattered by all the compliments as she enters the building.

Sharon Stone is currently filming Gods Behaving Badly, alongside Alec Baldwin and Christopher Walken. The comedy is about Greek Gods living in modern day New York, where they meddle in the lives of a young couple.

Alpha Dog Review

Weak
Nick Cassavetes' Alpha Dog is an infuriating misfire that would have been much more easily overlooked had it managed to stay true to one vision or the other; instead, Cassavetes (who also wrote the screenplay) keeps one foot in the teen-exploitation camp and another in the hardboiled true crime camp, never quite making up his mind which way to go. For every moment that plays real there are at least two that absolutely do not, producing a wildly schizophrenic film that has many chances at greatness and misses nearly all of them.

The pugilistic script is based on one of those fascinatingly ugly crime stories that come rocketing out of Southern California every now and again, to much clucking of tongues over wayward and rudderless youth. Following the sad state of events that leads a drug dealer to kidnap the younger brother of a client who owes him money, as a means of extracting said payment, the film traces how the kidnapped teenager (a momma's boy who yearns for rebellion) develops a horribly overwrought case of Stockholm Syndrome, earnestly believing he's just having a good time with the dealer's hard-partying friends. In fact, while the kids party like it's 1999 (the year the kidnapping actually took place), imbibing copious amounts of drugs and alcohol, the dealer, Johnny (Emile Hirsch, like an evil version of Turtle from Entourage) is panicking, having realized what he's gotten himself into.

Bobby Review

Bad
Filmmakers go overboard all the time, but none more than Oliver Stone. When Stone released JFK in 1991, it was obvious that he was pulling from a biased idealism, but he wasn't necessarily fibbing either. The cumulative effect of Stone's film was investigative fervor; even if you didn't believe the bulk of what was being given, you had to be shocked by a few of his points. The film was about looking back, but it was also about the hushed panic of the Kennedy assassination and the rest of the '60s. So, maybe going overboard was important to what Stone was after.

You won't find any sort of rabblerousing or sense of time in Emilio Estevez's Bobby, his account of the people that were in attendance when Robert F. Kennedy was shot and killed in Los Angeles' Ambassador Hotel. Estevez tosses together close to two dozen major characters and storylines along with footage of RFK campaigning against racism, America's poverty, and unlawful McCarthy tactics. The stories run the gamut from a young couple (Elijah Wood and Lindsay Lohan) getting hitched to keep the groom out of the war to an alcoholic diva (Demi Moore) and her forgotten husband (Estevez himself) to a philandering hotel manager (William H. Macy) who must keep his affair with a switchboard operator (Heather Graham) from his wife (Sharon Stone) and from an infuriated ex-employee (Christian Slater). There's also a pack of poll campaigners (Nick Cannon, Joshua Jackson, Shia Labeouf, and Brian Geraghty) who must deal with an acid freak out facilitated by a hippie (Ashton Kutcher), a pushy Czech journalist (Svetlana Metkina), and a flirty waitress at the hotel restaurant (Mary Elizabeth Winstead). Sounds like the makings of an ensemble comedy, no?

Sharon Stone Expresses Desire To Direct 'Basic Instinct 3'

Sharon Stone Basic Instinct

Actress Sharon Stone has revealed she wishes to direct a third movie in the 'Basic Instinct' film series. The actress, who stared in both the original film and its recent sequel, has revealed a desire to set the third film in Britain for its gritty and intense atmosphere, as well as saying that a script is already in the works.

The 48-year-old star stated in a recent interview that "there's a script for the next part of the story - but I would like to direct it rather than star in it. It will be filmed in the UK again as the setting is more intense and gritty." 'Basic Instinct 2' was certainly not quick out of the gate - the sequel to the 1992 movie only saw theatres in late March 2006, following a period of time in development hell and an actual cancelation in 2000, when it was revealed that the film would not meet its 2002 release date.

Sliver Review

Weak
New Yorkers obsess over real estate, and they're quick to notice when interesting apartments feature prominently in movies, especially thrillers. There's a direct line that runs from Rosemary's Baby (fabulous pre-war woodwork!) through Single White Female (so much square footage on the Upper West Side!) to Sliver (small rooms but a remarkably advanced video surveillance system). Come to think of it, Sliver was originally written as a novel by Rosemary's Baby author Ira Levin.

His writing partner was the gleefully vulgar Joe Eszterhas, who clearly timed this dirty little movie to cash in on the post-Basic Instinct Sharon Stone's newly notorious nether regions (and reissued on DVD to cash in on Basic Instinct 2). A credible actress (see Casino), Stone has always seemed willing to sabotage her own reputation by pandering to our, um, basic instincts, especially when the heavy-breathing Eszterhas is pulling the strings. Remember, this is the guy who wrote Showgirls.

Sharon Stone Suggests Oral Over Unprotected Sex

Sharon Stone

Actress Sharon Stone has gone on record as a supporter of oral sex for young adults, as it is often far safer than the alternative. According to the 'Total Recall' actress, has spoken out about how there is far less danger to oral sex than unprotected penetration for teenagers, owing to her charitable efforts to raise awareness of AIDS prevention.

The 'Basic Instinct' star has gone on record as stating that she will usually carry condoms around with her, which she usually hands out at AIDS awareness events to increase safe sex. She also tries, where she can, to educate people outside of her events. She explained that: "I was in the store the other day and I watched a young girl trying on clothes, showing her abdomen. Her mother was trying to talk to her about not being inappropriately luring. I said, 'Gee that would look much nicer with a camisole under.' Her mother walked away, and I said to the girl, 'I'd like to give you a two-minute conversation about sex.'"

Simpatico Review

Weak

Adapted from Sam Shepard's play about betrayal, blackmail, and a horse racing scam that haunts its conspirators for 20 years, "Simpatico" gets by for a while on a cast full of tense, brutal, benumbed performances.

Nick Nolte stars as Vinnie, a haunted, hard-drinking and fraudulent private eye who has lived a near-destitute existence in Los Angeles for two decades on hush money extorted from a former friend named Carter (Jeff Bridges), his partner in a pony-fixing during their younger days.

As the film opens, Vinnie sets in motion a chain of events designed to see him trade places with Carter, now a rich Kentucky breeder. He plans not only on usurping the wealth his ex-buddy has amassed since their friendship disintegrated, but also on recapturing the cold heart of Rosie (Sharon Stone), the girl that came between them.
