Sherri Shepherd will be leaving ABC's The View after seven seasons co-hosting the daytime show. The news comes in a wake of Jenny McCarthy announcing her departure and Barbara Walters departure from the show in May. Bill Geddie, the show's executive producer, is also rumoured to be leaving the show, according to TMZ.

The dynamic of the show has certainly altered over the last 18 months as Elizabeth Hasselback and Joy Behar left the show last year, Whoopi Goldberg is now the only permanent fixture. As for the future of the show, Rosie O'Donnell (who hosted in 2006-2007) is rumoured to be returning and Laila Ali is reportedly in talks with producers.

McCarthy took to Twitter to air her views, promising "If Sherri goes, I go too." Shortly after she announced her departure McCarthy tweeted: "My View will be changing too. As will with many hard working folks. Thanks to everyone at the show for your dedication and an amazing year." However, the former Playboy model promised fans she would return and captioned a picture in which she appears with Shepherd, "these are my avengers and we will be back!"

Shepherd's reaction was more considered and a spokesperson spoke to The Wrap about her departure from the show. The statement reads: "It's been seven wonderful years on The View and after careful consideration it is time for me to move on. I am extremely grateful to Barbara Walters and Bill Geddie for giving me the opportunity. I look forward to the business opportunities that lay ahead for me and I am incredibly grateful to my 'View' family and my fans for supporting me on this journey."

Shepherd first appeared on The View as a guest host in 2006 and was made a regular host the following year, whilst McCarthy joined the show last year. Neither has confirmed a date when they will be departing.
