Year of Yes will detail the impact saying "yes" to all kinds of work and personal projects has had on the screenwriter's life and is described as a "surprising, hilarious, poignant and accessible" account of how she transformed her life for the better. It will be published by bosses at Simon & Schuster in November (15).

Fact: Shonda Rhimes, the brains behind hit Tv dramas Grey's Anatomy and Scandal, is to receive the Sherry Lansing Leadership Award at the 2014 annual Women in Entertainment Breakfast. The Vip breakfast, which takes place on 10 December (14) in Los Angeles, recognises a woman who is considered a leader in entertainment. Past recipients include Oprah Winfrey, Jane Fonda, Dame Helen Mirren, Meryl Streep and Halle Berry.

Fact: Grey's Anatomy and Scandal creator Shonda Rhimes is set to make her acting debut in an upcoming episode of U.S. sitcom The Mindy Project. Rhimes, a self-proclaimed fan of the comedy and its star Mindy Kaling, will be playing herself in the third season, and the episode is set to air in America this autumn (14).

Along with her producing partner Betsy Beers, the two will be given the rare award for providing jobs and opportunities to women and minorities. The Diversity Award has only been handed out four times in the ceremony's history.
