BBC Two Pulls The Plug On 'Never Mind The Buzzcocks' After Over 18 Years

The BBC has cancelled long running music panel show ‘Never Mind The Buzzcocks’ after over 18 years on air and 28 series. The show had long been a staple of BBC Two’s autumn schedule, but had suffered from falling ratings in recent years.

Never Mind the Buzzcocks'Buzzcocks' team captains Phill Jupitus and Noel Fielding with series 27 guest hosts Rizzle Kicks.

Last summer, in time for Buzzcocks' 28th series, comedian Rhod Gilbert was named as the show's first permanent host in five years. But the addition of Gilbert was unable to improve ratings, which had been steadily declining for some time.

Rhod Gilbert has been named as the permanent host of comedy panel show Never Mind the Buzzcocks. The BBC2 show has lacked a permanent presenter since 2009 when Simon Amstell departed so he could work on his own comedy tours and performances.

When One Door Closes A New Time Slot Opens- C4 Axes T4 In Search Of Something New

After 14 years of broadcasting, the beloved TV format T4 has been axed by it's umbrella company, C4. The channel has cited declining figures of T4 due to the massive rise in viewers for one of the network's other channels, E4 which is now the highest rated channels for 16-34 year olds.

Reported on DailyMail.com, Dominic Bird, who is Head of Formatting at C4 said:'Whilst T4 has historically been a much loved destination for our young audiences, its popularity has been incrementally diminished over time by the digital revolution. In a landscape where Channel 4 now provides E4, the nation’s most popular channel for 16 -34 year olds... T4 has been fighting incredibly hard maintain the cut through it once enjoyed and now is the right time to look at more appropriate ways to serve our younger viewers.'

Simon Amstell made his name on Channel 4's Popworld, creating an onscreen persona that married ironic surrealism with a razor sharp wit. His style was his own, as he quite obviously didn't give a shit about the stardom of guest whom he was interviewing, famously making Britney Spears cry.
