London welcomes the cast and crew of The World's End on a blue carpet, while Fruitvale Station screens in New York. We also get our first glimpse of Spike Lee's Oldboy remake, and Jeff Bridges and Julianne Moore camp it up in Seventh Son...
This week's big world premiere was in London for The World's End, where Simon Pegg and Nick Frost walked a blue carpet alongside costars Eddie Marsan, Paddy Considine and Rosamund Pike. The apocalyptic pub crawl comedy opens next week in Britain. The cast and crew talk to the press about it. As well as Simon Pegg And Nick Frost Discussing The Talents Of Edgar Wright.
Meanwhile in New York, stars turned out for a gala screening of the Sundance winner Fruitvale Station. Lead actor Michael B Jordan was joined on the red carpet by Cuba Gooding Jr, DJ Moss and his wife DJ Kiss, and Tony-winning actress Patina Miller. The true drama costars Octavia Spencer and opens in America this weekend. Watch the Cuba Goodling Jr video or the Brian d'Arcy James and DJ Mos video here.
Back in London, the East End Film Festival came to a close on Wednesday with a gala screening of Lovelace, a biopic starring Amanda Seyfried as famed porn-star Linda Lovelace, who later became an anti-porn activist. The film costars Peter Sarsgaard, Sharon Stone, Chris Noth, Adam Brody and James Franco. It hits cinemas next month. Read on for all the Lovelace detail.
The biggest news story this week was that Sam Mendes will be back to direct the 24th James Bond movie. Since Skyfall is the biggest hit in UK history, this may not seem like a surprise. But producers had to work around him directing the stage version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, which just opened in London. Daniel Craig will be back as Agent 007. Read on about Sam Mendes signing on for 'Bond 24.
The most outrageous trailer released this week is for Seventh Son, an elaborate sword-and-scorcery adventure starring Ben Barnes, Alicia Vikander, Olivia Williams and Game of Thrones' Kit Harington. But what makes the trailer - and the film - unmissable are the scene-chewing performances from Jeff Bridges and Julianne Moore, roles unlike anything we've seen them do before. Click to watch the Seventh Son trailer.
One of the more unusual films on the way is Cutie and the Boxer, a documentary about flamboyant painter Ushio Shinohara and his offbeat relationship with his wife Noriko, whose illustrations trace their chaotic but solid 40-year relationship. It looks like an extraordinary film: funny, charming and very colourful. Take a look at the Cutie and the Boxer trailer.
But the most talked-about trailer of the week was for Spike Lee's controversial remake of the classic 2003 Korean film Oldboy, a dark, stylised inverted mystery about a man trying to find out why he was imprisoned for 20 years and then inexplicably released. The red-band trailer for the remake reveals a strikingly original approach to the story, with Josh Brolin in the meaty lead role. It's must-see cinema, have a look at the details here.
