Four years after the release of his last solo studio album 'New', Paul McCartney is returning with another record, this time working alongside acclaimed producer Greg Kurstin who landed four Grammy Awards earlier this year for his work on Adele's '25'.

While talking about songwriting with John Lennon in the Beatles, working with Elvis Costello on 1989's 'Flowers in the Dirt' and the influence Chuck Berry had on him in an interview with Matt Everitt on 6 Music over the weekend, the singer announced that he was working on another project.

'I'm making a new album, which is great fun', he said on Saturday (March 25th 2017). 'I'm in the middle of that. I'm working with a producer I first worked with two years ago on a thing, a piece of music I'm doing for an animated film.'

He goes on to explain that since their initial meeting, Greg has gone on to work with Beck on his song 'Dreams' and win Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Record of the Year and Producer of the Year for his work on Adele's '25' and her hit single 'Hello'.

'My only worry is people are going to go, 'Uhhhhh, there's Paul going with the flavour of the month'', he continued. 'I suppose you always think the worst of it. But he's a great guy, Greg Kurstin. Greg is musical and he's great to work with.'

It's not clear how far into writing and recording Paul and Greg are in currently, though a release date has not yet been released. He's got plenty to keep him busy in the meantime, however, because he'll be hitting Tokyo on April 25th for four dates in the Japanese capital. '[It] should be great fun', he said of the dates. 'It's a nice time to go, I think. The weather should be nice.'
