Sofia Vergara Attends Primetime Emmys 2014 Without Date Joe Manganiello

Sofia Vergara dateless at the Emmys? Who would have thought it especially as she's been dating True Blood star Joe Manganiello for the past few months.

Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello have been dating since July.

But the beautiful Modern Family actress had a good(ish) explanation as to why she had left Manganiello at home. As the 42-year-old explained, Manganiello is simply "too hot" to take as a date and "takes a lot of space." Speaking to Us Weekly, Vergara said "He's really hot. That's why I didn't bring him. He's too hot, too tall, he takes a lot of space. I told him, 'Please don't come.' He's too sexy!"

We're not sure why any of those things are an issue, but perhaps Vergara feared she would be too distracted by his presence whilst waiting to hear if Modern Family would win one of ten awards it is nominated for at the Primetime Emmys this year.

The couple were spotted together in L.A. earlier this month.

Vergara and 37-year-old Manganiello were first spotted together in July when they dined together at a New Orleans restaurant. They have frequently been seen together since and sources claim they are both very affectionate and evidently "smitten" with one another.

Aside from Manganiello's undeniable good looks, Vergara also appreciates what's on the inside. The mother of one announced that she appreciates her beau's sense of humour. Speaking to the same website, whilst on the red carpet tonight (25th August), Vergara said "He's a really funny guy, which is very important for me. I really thought that [he] was too hot for the red carpet!"
