Beyonce was overlooked in favour of Adele for the night's most prestigious award, Album of the Year
The Grammys were full of controversy this year - from Adele's re-do of her George Michael tribute to Rihanna taking her own hip flask to the awards, the ceremony was not short of a raised eyebrow or two. But eyebrows were raised no higher than when Adele’s 25 beat Beyoncé’s Lemonade in the Album of the Year category with Adele herself saying she couldn’t accept the award.
Solange Knowles has hit out at the Grammys over their snub of her sister's album, Lemonade
And now Beyoncé’s sister Solange has come out to criticise the snub of her big sister at the awards.

Conducted for Interview magazine, Solange sat down with her older sister Beyonce and discussed their lives and careers.
Having been the toast of the music world in 2016 with her album A Seat At The Table, Solange Knowles has been interviewed by a journalist who arguably knows her better than anyone else – her older sister Beyonce!
The 30 year old singer’s third studio record finished at, or near, the top of a great many music publications’ albums of the year, and she sat down with her older sister – who released a masterpiece of her own in 2016 as well in the shape of Lemonade – and was interviewed about her writing process and inspirations for Interview magazine.
In the feature, published on Tuesday (January 10th) for the magazine’s February edition, Solange and Beyonce spoke about their shared childhood and what it was like growing up in Houston.

Solange Knowles has been ''missing'' in the music industry, according to Master P who worked with Solange on 'A Seat At The Table' LP.
The 49-year-old music producer, who collaborated with the 30-year-old singer on her latest LP 'A Seat At The Table', believes Beyoncé's younger sister's presence on the music scene has been long overdue.
Speaking to Billboard magazine, Master P - whose real name is Percy Miller - said: ''Solange is someone I think the game is missing.

The singer dropped her third record at the end of September.
Solange Knowles has landed her first ever number one with her latest album release 'A Seat at the Table'. She dropped the surprise third album on September 30th 3016 through Columbia and her own imprint Saint Records, and now finds herself competing with elder sister Beyonce.
Solange Knowles reaches number one for the first time
The 30-year-old sibling of Queen Bey has topped the Billboard 200 Album chart for the first time since launching her music career. She's also reached number 17 in the UK charts. The 21-song record is her first full-length in eight years, and she's been working on it since 2013. Some songs were even written as far back as 8 years ago.
Solange’s third album ‘A Seat at the Table’ has been compared to Beyonce’s ‘Lemonade’.
Both albums are politically charged and touch on issues of race and culture, but Solange says critics shouldn't be surprised at the similar themes, as both artists grew up in the same household.

The sister of Beyonce says she was abused by a group of women during a concert in New Orleans.
Solange Knowles has penned an essay on race and being a minority in predominately white spaces, after her recent experiences at a Kraftwerk gig. Knowles had previously tweeted about being told to “sit down” by a group of women during the concert, but the singer has now given a full account of the evening and how it made her feel.
Solange Knowles has penned an essay on race after her experiences at a Kraftwerk concert
Knowles wrote that while dancing she heard a group of women yelling “Sit down now, you need to sit down right now”, aggressively at her from the box behind. “You want to be considerate, however, they were not at all considerate with their tone, their choice of words, or the fact that you just walked in and seem to be enjoying yourself,” Knowles wrote.
A reward is being offered for its safe return.
Losing something as precious and sentimental as a wedding ring has got to be one of the worst feelings ever, but Beyonce's little sis Solange Knowles is putting on a brave face on as she listens out for news of her own missing ring, for which she has offered a reward if found.
No sign of Solange's missing wedding ring...
She was taking part in a Mardi Gras parade in New Orleans, as an honorary Muse in the all-female collective the Krewe of Muses. Bedecked in green and blue and wearing a crown of the same colours, the singer must've got a little too energetic during the celebrations because her precious wedding ring slipped off her finger into oblivion while sailing down St. Charles Avenue on Thursday (February 5th 2016).

So Solange Knowles tied the knot, apparently. Raise your hand, if you didn't know that was even happening.
Love is in the air for Solange Knowles and Alan Ferguson, who just tied the knot this weekend in front of about a hundred of their closest friends and family, including – natch – Beyonce, Jay Z and little Blue Ivy.
Solange Knowles is now a married woman. Congrats!
It was a white wedding – literally – as the dress code was exclusively shades of white and cream with a few patterns thrown in here and there. The ceremony took place in a church in New Orleans and, as if things could get any more adorable, the bride and groom were spotted riding bycicles together ahead of the wedding. According to E! News, the wedding basically stretched over the entire weekend with the pre-wedding festivities kicking off on Friday. The couple eased into the wedding weekend, heading down to the Indywood Cinema to catch Mahogany starring Diana Ross. Bey was reportedly spotted heading into the theatre on her own. Because, you know, she does walk around alone sometimes, despite being married.

Solange Knowles is ready to move on from her infamous scuffle with Jay-Z in an elevator at the Standard Hotel in New York City.
It has been two months since security footage leaked online that showed the singer attempting to kick and punch the rapper when leaving a Met Gala after party on May 5th.
But when asked about the incident in the August issue of Lucky Magazine, which she features on the front cover of, Solange quickly played it down.

Will Beyoncé divorce Jay Z after cheating with her bodyguard, Julius?
The internet is abuzz with reports that Beyoncé and Jay Z are preparing to divorce after the rumor that the R&B singer had been cheating on her rapper husband emerged in the wake of the now-infamous post-Met Gala elevator fight. Sources have indicated to Star Magazine that the 'Halo' singer and Julius de Boer, her bodyguard, have been having a long-term affair and that Jay Z's suspicions were alerted long ago. We must make it clear that Star magazine don't exactly have a glowing record of accurate exclusives.
"Jay definitely thinks that there was and may still be something romantic going on between Bey and Julius," a source told the publication. "He wanted to fire Julius last February, but Beyoncé said, 'Julius isn't going anywhere.'"
"They've spent a lot of time together behind closed doors," the insider continued. "He's even stayed in her hotel room." Rumors of a secret relationship between Bey and Julius first arose back in 2009 when the pair were snapped leaving a hotel in Berlin. In the photo Beyoncé's mouth is strangely covered by her hand whilst Julius mouth is allegedly covered in red lipstick.

Jay Z, Solange and Beyonce are probably over the Standard elevator incident and leaked video by now, but unfortunately, no big news story can really blow over, until there’s an SNL skit about it. Well, now there’s an SNL skit about it. Jay Pharoah and Sasheer Zamata take on the latest celebrity feud, except in the sketch, there’s absolutely no feuding. It has been a violent week in showbiz, with aggression from Alec Baldwin, Justin Bieber and the Solange/Jay Z camps.
Cannes Panning: We'd love to say we were starting the round-up on a high with the Cannes Film Festival but unfortunately for new royal biopic Grace of Monaco, there is no good news to be found. The Nicole Kidman-starring true story dramatization has been almost universally crushed by Cannes critics who found the acting wooden, the script trite and the entire picture worse than the much-slated Diana pic. You can watch the trailer here though - it's worth it for the beautiful costumes and idyllic tax-haven setting.
Baldwin Busted: Alec Baldwin should probably sneak off to some meditation resort in the mountains for the next few months until this latest debacle blows over. The hot-headed actor and TV host, who is known for his many altercations with paps, had a run-in with police this week when he was caught riding his bicycle the wrong way down a busy New York street and flew into a rage when the cops asked to see his ID. It didn't end well for the 30 Rock star: read about all the drama here.

Whoopi Goldberg stands by her opinion... from three days ago.
Jay Z and Solange Knowles may already be waiting for the waves of the elevator story to settle down, but there are still plenty of people sounding off on it and keeping the drama alive. Case in point: Whoopi Goldberg, who stirred the pot on Tuesday by saying that any man has the right to hit a woman, if she hits first. Stepping on her soapbox on The View, Goldberg defended Jay Z by saying: “"I think Solange was quite ready for him to do whatever he was going to do. This is the thing: If anybody hits you, you have the right."
Whoopi preaches a simple philosophy.
That was enough to get viewers slightly on edge, but Goldberg didn’t stop there. She continued: "I know that many people are raised in a different way – but if a woman hits you, to me, you have the right to hit her back."
Solange, Jay-Z, Beyonce, one viral video has ended up causing so many questions but do we actually have any answers yet?
Solange Knowles lashed out at her brother in-law Jay-Z in an elevator, after the Met Ball, while Beyonce looked on, that much we know for sure. But since the video spread like wildfire over the internet on Monday, the rest of the story has been harder to piece together. What caused the argument, are Beyonce and Solange still speaking and what about the famous couple’s marriage? This is one story which has thrown up far too many questions and not enough answers.

What caused Solange to attack Jay-Z?

Moral of the story: when spreading gossip about people, make sure they don't have a whole team of lawyers.
The Jay Z and Solange saga continues. Well, not really. There haven’t actually been any news on the subject since the infamous elevator video was leaked, but it did have some unfortunate consequences for the hotel employee, who leaked it. The Standard Hotel has reportedly investigated the matter and the responsible employee has been identified and laid off. However, the hotel would not reveal the name of the person responsible.
Solange and her brother-in-law were thought to be on good terms prior to the video.
The video was posted on TMZ on Monday and has since gone viral, with multiple sources speculating about the cause of the outburst. The names of Rihanna and designer Rachel Roy have been linked to the incident, with several sources hinting that the rapper may have been too chatty with a lady, other than his wife. None of this has been confirmed by official sources, however. Chances are, it’s nothing more than speculation. However, with Solange and Jay Z’s reps withholding comments for now, the real cause of the fight is anybody’s guess.
There's been a lot to take in since the video of Solange attacking Jay-Z went viral, but what do we actually know about the night after the Met Ball?
The internet hasn’t recovered yet after footage of Beyonce’s sister Solange attacking Jay-Z in an elevator after the Met Ball emerged. But what exactly caused the altercation between the singer and her brother in-law? The twitterverse thinks it has the answer, with #whatJayZsaidtoSolange trending worldwide, but what do we actually know?
Beyonce and Jay-Z on the Met Ball red carpet
On Sunday May 4th Beyonce and Jay-Z attended the Met Ball together, putting on a loved-up display on the red carpet, complete with a comic moment where Jay-Z joke ‘proposed’ to Bey after picking up her runaway ring. Solange meanwhile went solo in a 3.1 Phillip Lim dress. Everything seemed peachy on the red carpet and inside the ball, Beyonce hung out with Solange and Lupita Nyong’o as seen in a picture uploaded to the singer’s Instagram. Bey also shared pictures of her self and Jay-Z seemingly having a great time inside the star studded gala.
A week later, the incident remains a mystery.
The Carters might seem like the perfect family to an outside observer, but they are not without their flaws, it would seem. Case in point: Jay Z and Solange Knowles’ less-than-graceful altercation after the Met Gala on May 5th. Footage has just recently been released of Solange, entering an elevator with Jay Z and Beyonce after the Met Gala and proceeding to attack her brother-in-law. Because the recording, obtained by TMZ, doesn’t include audio, the reason for the scuffle remains unclear.
Solange appears cool and composed in public. What could have set her off?
What can be seen in the video of Solange, Beyonce and Jay Z after an after party at The Boom Boom Room is that the scuffle is pretty dramatic. As the group walks into the elevator where Beyonce i already standing, Solange appears to immediately begin screaming and pointing in the "Holy Grail" rapper's face.

Saturday was a rough day at Coachella, but definitely worth it for those who braved the storm
If you’re at Coachella this year, you won’t be reading this story and if you are… well, this might just make things worse, but here’s a rundown of the best things you’re missing anyway. Saturday saw a huge dust storm rip through Coachella Valley on Saturday, but diehard fans stuck it out anyway for Muse’s headlining gig. The English rockers performed festival staples like "Hysteria," "Resistance," and "Magic," but a large portion of the Coachella crowd left the field early as high winds swept sand and dust across the festival field, Reuters reports.
Muse went for festival favorites and a Nirvana tribute.
Following her recent interview with 'Harper's Bizaar' we take the time to praise the career of Solange Knowles.
When your older sister is Beyonce Knowles it must be hard not to live in her shadow. Beyonce is one of the world’s most successful recording acts as well as being one half of power couple Jayonce (Jay-Z and Beyonce). But Solange Knowles has risen to fame in her own independent way - she has pursued her separate path carefully and without ceremony and meticulously carved her own career.
Solange's afro and bright outfits have become her signature look
As a teenager Solange sporadically recorded with her sister's group, Destiny’s Child, before bringing out her own studio album “Solo Star” when she was 16 years old. The album was moderately successful and her name began to circulate, although she couldn’t escape comparison to her superstar older sister.

The two singers weren't present for their father, Mathew Knowles, as he re-married last month following his messy 2009 divorce from their mother
Solange Knowles wasn't with her father when he exchanged vows for a second time and neither was her sister, Beyonce Knowles, as the two apparently had prior engagements that made it impossible for them to attend the Houston, Texas, ceremony. Mathew Knowles, 61, married former model Gena Charmaine Avery, 48, on June 30 in front of family and friends, but not everyone of his family found time to see the CEO and president of Music World Entertainment re-marry.
Solange wasn't present at the wedding
"Unfortunately, Beyonce and Solange had previous engagements which made it impossible for them to attend," he said in a statement to US Weekly, failing to back up his statement with any explanation as to where they were. The two ladies have had a frosty relationship with their father since he split from their mother and his wife of 31 years, Tina Knowles, back in 2011. Beyonce also decided to part ways with Mathew as her manager, although at the time she said her decision was only motived in a business sense. Mathew had managed Destiny's Child from their very beginnings and continued to manage his daughter as she conquered the world as a solo artist.

Solange Knowles has returned to the pop scene. She might be better known as the younger sister of Beyonce Knowles but with ‘Losing You,’ Solange could finally prove that she’s a talented artist in her own right, with no need to live in her sister’s shadow. It’s been four years since Solange released her second album Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams, which may have been well-received but failed to get her a foothold on her career ladder in the music industry.
‘Losing You’ is produced by Blood Orange’s Devonté Hynes, according to LA Times and it’s a neat laid-back modern R&B song, with just enough swagger to get her personality across, but just enough retro groove to set it apart from most mainstream R&B tracks. It’s simultaneously downbeat and uplifting and the video really captures her spirit as she cycles around Cape Town, South Africa. The video was directed by Melina Matsoukas; she’s worked with Solange before, on 2008’s ‘I Decided.’
The track, which features the lyrics “I’m not the one that you should be making your enemy, tell me the truth, boy, am I losing you for good,” will be released by Terrible Records, which is run by Chris Taylor of the band Grizzly Bear. The B-side will be ‘Sleep in the Park,’ which will feature Kevin Barnes, of the band Of Montreal. Both tracks are taken from her as-yet-untitled album, which is expected to be released some time in 2013.

He and his wife, Dorothy (Vanessa Williams), are going through a rough patch, though they live just live just down the street from each other. Their son (Bow Wow, no longer Lil' Bow Wow) wants to be a rapper, much to Dad's chagrin, while their older daughter (Solange Knowles, Beyonce's sis) is growing into a body and social conscience that's about five years ahead of the curve. Only their little daughter seems at ease, though she has an imaginary dog.

When lazy and talentless comedy writers bang their heads together to knock out a road trip movie, they always give away how little they care about cleverness and creativity in the very first reel. If a road trip movie has a good excuse for getting off the beaten track (there's no adventure to be had on the Interstate), chances are you'll have good characters and good laughs.
But if, as in "Johnson Family Vacation," the driver just says "I know a shortcut" (a shortcut from California to Missouri?!), then buckle up -- you're in for a long, laughless ride of tiresome set pieces and second-rate slapstick.
In this case the driver is Nate Johnson (Cedric the Entertainer), an insurance agent and standard sitcom Dumb Dad who drags his estranged family halfway across the country for a family reunion where (feeble gimmick alert!) he's determined to win the "Family of the Year" trophy from the catty clan of his brash, competitive older brother (Steve Harvey).
