Solange Knowles loves being called ''Mrs. Ferguson''.

The 29-year-old singer married long-term partner Alan Ferguson eight months ago and she adores the feeling of being someone's wife and sharing her man's name.

She said: ''I like to hear people call me 'Mrs. Ferguson'. It's so cheesy but I love it. We were together for so long that marriage just felt like the next step.''

As well as her man, Solange has 10-year-old son Daniel Julez from her marriage to ex-husband Daniel Smith and she admits juggling her work and family life is ''hard work'' and involves a lot of ''sacrifice'' but she never feels better than when she accomplishes everything she sets out to do.

In an interview with LOOK magazine, she said: ''I never try to paint this effortless, easy picture. I've tried hard to balance everything, from finishing my album to being a mum. It's hard work - it takes a lot of sacrifice. But when I do it all, I feel like I can do anything.

''Saying that, going back to New Orleans and curling up on the couch with Julez and Alan is amazing - even if it's only for a few days.''

The Losing You' singer likes to work with charities that are important to her, and she admits her son has an influence on the good causes she contributes to.

Solange - whose fee for promoting Kiehl's Powerful Strength Line -Reducing Concentrate is being given to charity - said: ''I think the older my son has got, and the more we navigate through the different stages of his education, I realise that school can't just be privilege for kids. It has to be second nature.''
