When Sam Mendes first decided to adapt Roald Dahl's 49 year-old best loved children's book about an eccentric chocolate maker and one very lucky little boy, he hadn't anticipated the scale or scope of his Charlie And The Chocolate Factory production - or the time it would take to come to fruition.

Charlie And The Chocolate Factory has been brought to life on a large scale before: 1971's film saw Gene Wilder bring his unconventional and volatile incarnation of the mad professor of confectionery in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, whereas a Tim Burton movie kickstarted the franchise again in 2005 with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory that saw Johnny Depp on truly bizarre form.

Now, the legend has been brought to the West End by Skyfall director Sam Mendes, who also has a host of strong musicals under his belt, including Oliver! (1994) and Cabaret (1994). The Guardian hails the modern adaptation of Dahl's moral fable as a "sumptuous visual feast" and praises the effective "engaging and sinister" portrayal of Wonka by Douglas Hodge. Young Jack Costello's "adorable" performance as Charlie is lauded by The Independent, along with the band of entitled and greedy golden ticket-winning brats who accompany Charlie on the trip of a lifetime.

Model turned celebrity chef Sophie Dahl and husband Jamie Cullum say they are "completely thrilled" after welcoming their second daughter. The 35-year-old gave birth to Margot Cullum on Monday, with the jazz musician announcing the news on Twitter earlier today.

"On March 4th @sophiedahl gave birth to our second baby girl, Margot Cullum. She is healthy and gorgeous and we are completely thrilled," he gushed to followers. Baby Margot joins the couple's two-year-old daughter Lyra.

The unlikely pair met in 2008, though Cullum often credits his wife with teaching him the important things in life. "My relationship with Sophie has helped put everything in perspective. It reminds me that while I love working, and have certain responsibilities to my career, there are more important things in life," the singer told the Daily Mail back in 2009.

Sophie Dahl and Jamie Cullum are adding to their brood! The Mirror have pictured Sophie and Jamie together at the Harper’s Bazaar’s Women of the Year awards bash at Claridge’s in London. Sophie was sporting not only a beautifully patterned green, blue and black dress but was also sporting a bit of a baby bump, too. The actress and TV cook confirmed that she and jazz singer Jamie are indeed awaiting a new arrival. They already have a daughter, Lyra, who was born in March 2011.

The couple attended the glamorous awards ceremony, which also boasted guests such as Erin O’Connor and Yasmin Le Bon, with whom Sophie is already familiar, from her modelling days. The former X Files star Gillian Anderson was also in attendance, as was Rosamund Pike and Daisy Lowe.

Amongst the winners at the Woman of the Year awards were Team GB Olympics athletes Jessica Ennis, Victoria Pendleton and Ellie Simmonds, who were all awarded a British Ambassador of the Year prize. Emily Blunt, Marion Cotillard and Stella Mccartney were all also awarded prizes during the star-studded ceremony. It’s been a successful week for Jessica Ennis, in particular, who was crowned the Ultimate Olympian at the Cosmopolitan’s own awards the nigt before, at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

Sadie Frost has been cautioned for common assault, against her boyfriend James Gooding. The British actress, 47, was reportedly involved in a “bust-up” with Gooding after having dinner with him on Sunday (October 7, 2012), according to The Sun. A spokesperson for the police confirmed “A woman, aged 47, was arrested on suspicion of common assault. The man did not need hospital treatment.” James is 10 years Sadie’s junior and they have been dating since the summer; though it doesn’t seem that all is going to plan if Sadie is resorting to violence against him?

Both Sadie and James have previous form when it comes to high profile relationships. Sadie was once married to the Spandau Ballet star Gary Kemp and has a son, Finlay, from her relationship with him. She was also married to the actor Jude Law for six years and has three children with him, Rafferty, Iris and Rudy. James, on the other hand once dated Kylie Minogue, for three years. When they split, he sold his story to The Sun, publicly revealing that he had cheated on her with the model Sophie Dahl.

The actual details of James and Sadie’s spat have not been confirmed, though it is thought that Sadie visited the police station on Sunday, where she received a caution for common assault. She was spotted returning home later on Sunday evening. According to the Daily Mail, Sadie’s pal Kate Moss has already taken a dislike to James and “banned him from attending a holiday with them on their yacht in Mallorca and the south of France.”
