After nearly two decades of toilet humour and up-to-the-minute satire, ‘South Park’s creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker have insisted that the animated favourite will not be going away any time soon.

Speaking to IGN’s Podcast Unlocked recently, regarding news of their forthcoming video game sequel, Parker and Stone said that they would only stop making ‘South Park’ if Comedy Central, its home of 18 years and over 250 episodes, cancelled it.

“Every season, about three shows in, we say this should be the last season. Then we go away for a couple months and we're like, 'That was pretty good, let's do it again',” said Parker on whether they found if making the show, year in year out, was becoming tiring.

When asked how he envisioned ‘South Park’ ending for good, he responded: “I think it's gonna end with a fizzle for sure. We're gonna go, 'F**k this, man' and walk away.” Stone chipped in, reckoning it would be with “some sort of a whimper. Drop the mic, get sued, [or] get thrown off cable television.”

“We've thought that for 18 years, 'They're gonna cancel us for sure'. We're waiting to get cancelled for 18 f****** years.” Parker replied.

Happily, they also confirmed that ‘South Park’ will be back for yet another series next year. Stone added: “We won't stop until we get cancelled. We're renewing. They have to f****** cancel us, goddammit!”

Stan, Kyle, Cartman and Kenny first hit TV screens back in 1997. It was at first known for its daft but very funny playground humour, but after a few years began growing into probably the best satire on television. Note, all other sketch shows, that’s actual satire, not just doing impressions.

Stone and Parker recently unveiled plans for a follow-up to the well-received ‘South Park’ RPG video game ‘The Stick of Truth’, which came out in 2014. It will apparently be called ‘The Fractured But Whole’… geddit?
