It's been quite a busy year for Foo Fighters' frontman Dave Grohl, having unveiled his music documentary What Drives Us as well as his debut book The Storyteller: Tales of Life and Music. Then there's the series From Cradle To Stage based on his mother's memoirs, Foo Fighters' tenth studio album Medicine at Midnight, the band's Global Icon win at the MTV Video Music Awards and of course his stunning collaboration with Halsey.

September 2021 Favourites: A Stunning Array Of More Than 60 Artists Feature In Our Pick Of The Top 5 New Releases From September

In a month that saw 18 year old qualifier Emma Raducanu win the coveted U.S Women's Open Tennis Championship without even dropping a set, Cristiano Ronaldo returned to Manchester United and got off to a flying start as he netted five precious goals. Boris Johnson and his cabinet dropped the ball altogether over Afghanistan, failed to predict fuel shortages at forecourts and did little to allay fears that everything would be fine by Christmas as he desperately reshuffled his cabinet. As he continued his long running spat with Kanye West, Drake released his sixth studio album, Certified Lover Boy and Lana Del Rey quite all social media platforms citing other "jobs", "privacy and transparency". Global Citizen put on a spectacular 24 hour show - 'A Recovery Plan for the World', with the aim of ending CoVID19, curbing the hunger crisis, resumption of learning for everyone, advancing equity for all and protecting the planet. Amongst those who performed on the five world stages was Sir Elton, who, as it happens, appears in two of the five releases we have selected for September.

May 2021 Favourites: 'The Sky Is Bleeding' But We're Not 'SOUR' As 'Daddy's Home'

Gary Numan St. Vincent Twenty One Pilots

Whilst Billie went Vogue in the UK, Ingenuity went rogue on Mars. Little Mix became the first all female group to pick up a BRIT award for Best Group and Taylor Swift became the first woman recipient of a BRIT Icon award. Both Ariana Grande and the PM, Boris Johnson, got married, thankfully not to each other. Chelsea FC won the European Champions League title beating Manchester City and the UK's James Newman pulled off a theoretical impossibility by scoring nul points and losing to all other Eurovision entries. Blossoms, The Lathums and Zuzu successfully entertained 5,000 fans at Sefton Park as part of the Government's national Events Research Programme (ERP) and a technical hitch had Emily Eavis say she was "so sorry" after the Glastonbury live-stream event (initially) failed. May has been quite an eventful and fruitful month and these are our top five musical highlights to accompany the big news stories.

St. Vincent - Daddy's Home Album Review

We've almost reached the middle of the year so while it still feels like early days yet, we don't think it's too much of a stretch to say that Daddy's Home by St. Vincent will be one of the more memorable albums of the year.

St. Vincent - Daddy's Home Album Review

St Vincent - Daddy's Home

A twisted take on the 70s sound, Annie Clark's latest release is partly inspired by her father, and partly by his record collection. It's broken up by three "Humming Interludes" which help to make this already wonderfully cohesive album come together with seamless completion.

Upcoming Releases: Check Out The Top 5 New Albums That We Can't Wait To Hear In May

Gary Numan Paul Weller Black Keys St. Vincent

As 'normal life' seems to be a few steps closer, as the first experimental music events take place, and as everyone gears up for a summer of festivals and fun, we take a look ahead at the new releases due out this May. If all goes to plan and the recent warehouse club-night, fronted by Fatboy Slim and The Blessed Madonna, and the sold out 5,000 strong Blossoms gig, both in Liverpool, work as a pilot to enable further events then we should be in for a much brighter summer than last year. The lack of any real 'live' music hasn't meant that we haven't been treated to some musical magic this year. We've already had some wonderful releases from Girl In Red, Justin Bieber, Olivia Rodrigo, Foo Fighters, The Pretty Reckless and a whole host of others, but there are many more on the horizon. Little Simz has an album due out in September, John Grant releases his latest in July, Lana Del Rey drops her second album of the year on Independence Day and Billie Eilish is set to release her second album three weeks later. Ahead of them all though we have some great records due out in May. Here are our top 5.

Upcoming Releases: The Pick Of March's Music That We're All Set To Be Haring After

Lana Del Rey Selena Gomez Zara Larsson St. Vincent

As life gets one step closer to normality for those affected by the impact of the CoVID19 pandemic we take a look forward to what's fresh, new and exciting in the world of music. As schools get ready to receive students back into their actual, rather than virtual, classrooms, as the world gets ready to celebrate book day on 4th March, as F1 gets ready to race again, as the America's Cup begins, as the vaccination programme continues at pace, as the world starts to feel hope and optimism, let's take a look at what's to come. Kings Of Leon have a new album due out this month, as do The Horrors and Black Sabbath. Ringo Starr is releasing an EP, Sting is releasing a duets compilation and there are retrospectives due from Neil Young and Madness among others, however, as both Mother's Day and International Women's Day both fall within March we're going for an all female line-up.

Nine Inch Nails St. Vincent Johnny Cash Miley Cyrus

Last weekend was a seminal moment for industrial rock band Nine Inch Nails as they were finally inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, 31 years after the release of their debut album Pretty Hate Machine. Iggy Pop was the artist chosen to induct this unique band and, in honour of this momentous occasion, Amazon Music unveiled two stunning covers; Jehnny Beth on Closer and St. Vincent on Piggy.

St. Vincent Blasts LA's Surgical Obsession In 'Los Ageless' Video

St. Vincent

St. Vincent hits out at the impossible beauty standards of the city of Los Angeles, and its obsession with staying young forever with her new video for 'Los Ageless'. It's her usual tongue-in-cheek visuals, with the added bonus that it's a spectacularly infectious song.

She dons bandages in a doctor's surgery set-up and a number of latex costumes in the video, which has been directed by Willo Perron. The song itself is a dark electronic number with a steady rhythm underlined by Annie Clark's hypnotic rock vocals.

St. Vincent - New York

Some crazy outfits and artistic backdrops make up the colourful world of St. Vincent's latest video 'New York'. It might be a city with many musical tributes to its name, but this one is certainly something a bit different.

'New York', released this summer (2017), is the first song St. Vincent - aka Annie Clark - has released in two years, coming after her last release 'Teenage Talk'. The video has been directed by visual artist Alex Da Corte, who depicts the different facets of the American city through the eyes of the singer's dreamy, abstract mind.

She has previously confessed that the song is about her whole life and everyone that she loves, rather than just one person from a past relationship as it may sound on first listening. While we're yet to discover any details about her next album project, she will be embarking on her Fear The Future Tour this Fall.

Cara Delevingne To Feature On St Vincent's Album

Cara Delevingne St. Vincent

Cara Delevingne will sing on St Vincent's upcoming album.

The 25-year-old model and actress was previously in a relationship with the musician - whose real name is Annie Clark - for 18 months before their split last summer, and although the pair have parted ways, it seems a piece of their relationship will live on in St Vincent's upcoming sixth studio venture.

During an interview with The New Yorker, the 34-year-old singer revealed Cara will provide vocals on a track entitled 'Pills', which details St Vincent's use of drugs as a ''coping mechanism''.
