All eyes were on the Oscars red-carpet at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles this evening for the hottest dresses and obvious disasters at the biggest night on the movie industry's calendar. To be fair to Hollywood's starlets, there were far more successful outfits than fashion faux-pas and almost no wardrobe malfunctions in sight!

Inside the theatre, it was Ben Affleck's 'Argo' that won the eventual dual with Lincoln for Best Picture, though Ang Lee's 3-D drama Life of Pi was the unofficial success story of the night with 4 wins - more than any other film. Lee even wrestled the award for Best Director away from big favourite Steven Spielberg. Elsewhere, there was predicted success for Jennifer Lawrence who won Best Actress for Silver Linings Playbook and Daniel Day-Lewis established himself among the greatest actors of all time, securing an unprecedented third Oscar for Best Actor. Anne Hathaway offered up a suspiciously rehearsed acceptance speech after winning Best Supporting Actress while Christoph Waltz won the male equivalent for his role in Django Unchained.

But who cares about all that right? You want to know who was the best dressed.

As always, the well turned out George Clooney and Stacy Keibler look effortlessly stylish on the red-carpet. The Argo producer was sporting a thick unkempt beard and black tuxedo while girlfriend Stacy opted for a stunning silver gown with bead detailing. It was one of the style high points and proof the former WWF wrestler rarely gets it wrong. In fact, she never gets it wrong.

Former Friends actress Jennifer Aniston - who presented an award on the night - opted for a stunning red ball-gown by Valentino. She arrived at the ceremony with fiance Justin Theroux, who suspiciously held his girl's stomach on various occasions. Was he trying to tell us something? The Mulholland Drive actor looked equally stylish in a traditional tuxedo, but it's always easier for the men, right?

Unfortunately for the vast majority of actresses attending the Oscars this year, Nicole Kidman decided to bring her A-game. The Australian actress, one of the best dressed women in the world, was immaculately turned out in a stunning sparkly gown, perfect for the occasion.

However, for Contactmusic.com, the best dressed actress at the Oscars 2013 was Lincoln star and film veteran Sally Field. We'll let the photos do the talking on this one.
