Actress Christina Chong, probably best known for 24: Live Another Day, has signed on for a small role in JJ Abrams' 'Star Wars: Episode 7', according to Latino Review. Chong's previous credits include Madonna's W.E.

Her casting comes not long after a couple of unknown actors, Crystal Clarke and Pip Anderson, also joined the cast. The former will play the ambitious street orphan Rachel who uses "humor and guts to get by." Anderson plays Thomas, a fatherless guy in his late teens or early twenties who "understands you can't take life too seriously."

Production on Episode VII at Pinewood Studios will go on a two-week hiatus in August while Harrison Ford continues to recover from his ankle injury that he suffered during an accident last month. Recently, the movie was filming in the Forest of Dean, leading to intense speculation that the Ewok planet of Endor might return.

Star Wars Episode VII - which opens on December 18, 2015 - stars Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford returning to the classic roles Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and Han Solo. A slew of new actors are also joining the franchise, including Attack the Block star John Boyega, Inside Llewyn Davis's Oscar Isaac and the veteran Max Von Sydow.

Chong is very much considered one of the most promising actors prospects in the business and recently snagged the female lead in Sergio Mimica-Gezzan's feature project Halo: Nightfall.
