Stereophonics frontman Kelly Jones is still haunted by the death of his former bandmate Stuart Cable three years ago as he is convinced the drummer would have eventually returned to the group.

Cable was found dead at his home in Wales in 2010 and officials ruled he had choked on his own vomit following a three-day booze binge.

He was one of the founding members of the band, but was kicked out in 2003 amid rumours of a drug problem and a falling out with frontman Jones and bassist Richard Jones.

However, the singer is convinced his friend would have reunited with the group if he hadn't lost his life.

He tells Britain's Daily Mail newspaper, "I think about him and miss him every day. Every time we play an old song, he's still there. Stuart, Richard and I achieved a lot together... had Stuart lived, I think he'd have ended up back in the band. What happened between us in 2003 was stupid. We could have ironed things out then. I don't think people realise how close we were. We'd known each other for 10 years before the band."
