Strictly Come Dancing’ bosses are reportedly in panic mode, as six professional dancers have been struck down by a ‘mystery bug’.

Brendan Cole has already confirmed he’ll be missing this weekend’s shows as he recovers from a lung infection and will be replaced by Gorka Marquez.

But now Katya Jones, Janette Manrara, Neil Jones, Aljaz Skorjanec and Anton du Beke are also said to be experiencing 'flu-like symptoms'.

A source told The Sun: “Preparations for this weekend have been hampered by this horrendous virus sweeping through the pros.

“Poor Brendan is gutted not to be able to dance with Anastacia, but he has to listen to his body as a lung infection is no laughing matter. He’s on doctor’s orders."

“But producers are now concerned some of the other pros could be following in his footsteps," the source continued. "They have to rehearse and dance very intimately.

“And at the moment they are dropping like flies.”

Katya Jones, who is partnered with Ed Balls, is said to have needed several breaks from training on Thursday due to the flu.

A source told The Sun: “Ed has been a real hit with the nation and is hoping he can stay in the show at least another couple of weeks.”

“He really credits Katya for choreographing amazing, comical routines for them and fears that if she isn’t feeling her best their standard could slip dramatically.”

However Katya has since responded to the reports on Twitter, writing: ‘Thanks every1 for ur concerns.i feel fine, I've got weak vocal cords.& we've been working extremely hard this week in training.’
