Sue Perkins is considering adopting a child. The Great British Bake Off host recently revealed in an interview that she was infertile as a result of a benign brain tumour. In a following interview, Perkins explained her devastation at not being able to have her own biological children but, appearing at the Henley Literary Festival, said she is not ruling out the possibility of adoption.

“One day, maybe, I might be privileged enough to adopt a kid,” Perkins said (via Yahoo).

Perkins did not say she was completely set on the idea and alluded to the notoriously complicated adoption process. However, she’s remaining optimistic about the possibility.

“But I don’t know where you find a child,” Perkins continued. “There aren’t just children wandering around, and if there are you should probably go to a police station. You can’t take them into your house. Who knows, every door is open. It’s good.”

Perkins revealed in a recent interview with Good Housekeeping that she has been living with a benign tumour for over eight years. The 46-year-old presenter explained how the tumour had grown in her pituitary gland and, as it affects her reproductive hormones, had caused infertility.

Perkins described her devastation at learning of her infertility diagnosis, stating: “I cried myself hoarse till my eyes ran on empty.”

“It’s just not going to happen, it’s not going to ever be part of my life,” Perkins continued, “And, although I never yearned to physically have my own child, it felt like a bereavement. It really did”.
