49-year-old Knight is accused of murder and attempted murder although Knight denies both charges. Knight was arrested in January of this year after turning himself in after being involved in a hit-and-run which left one man dead and the other with foot and head injuries. The incident occurred at a drive-through in Compton where Dr. Dre, who is rumoured to have had a disagreement with Knight, was filming a documentary Straight Outta Compton. Knight had, according to TMZ, already been asked to leave another location after the disagreement a short time before.

The shocking footage shows a red truck, thought to be driven by Knight, driving up to a burger drive-through where he is confronted by a man. The man in question, Cle "Bone" Sloan, seemingly attacks Knight through the open window of his truck. Knight reverses and, as he does so, hits Sloan with his wing mirror which detaches. Sloan is knocked to the ground and Knight seeming drives at another man, Terry Carter, and hits Sloan once again. Carter died as a result of the injuries sustained in the hit-and-run.

Knight's defence believes the video footage exonerates him as his actions were arguably in self-defence, in an attempt to escape, as he was attacked and both Sloan and Carter had guns. Knight also claims a number of people in the crowd were threatening to kill him.
