SUNceBEAT 7 in Croatia this year was quite simply outstanding! Everyone who attended made friends for life, enjoyed such a deep cosmic experience and were elevated by the remarkable musicianship that highlights Suncebeat is a gem in the Dalmatian Coast. Watching Louie Vega, to a packed Main Stage on Sunday night followed by the sunrise, was an unforgettable memory shared with all of the Suncebeat fun loving, unity conscious family, who always embraces the spirit of tolerance and togetherness.

Things change, that's one thing we can rely on and over the last 6 years, the site in Croatia moved from Petrcane to Tisno, and Southport Weekender has gone! I chatted to many at Suncebeat 7, who were visiting Croatia for the first time and had never been to Southport Weekender, this was quite poignant to me, highlighting that the past is the past, move on! It doesn't really matter what was, because Suncebeat 7 is acclimation of all that work. It was magical, the music was great, the vibes fabulous, fantastic atmosphere, and that's what counts now.

Croatia is beautiful! It has a pristine vibration, gorgeous clean sea, joyous sunshine, great food and a truly accommodating local community. Suncebeat certainly stands out as something quite different to the other festivals happening in Croatia, it has a mature and discerning crowd and the line-up speaks for itself. Artists such as DJ Jazzy Jeff, Louie Vega, Derrick Carter, Terry Hunter, Rich Medina, Mike Dunn, Henrik Schwarz, Osulande, Atjazz, Grant Nelson and for many a big draw this year Black Coffee, all on the line up. Suncebeat 7 is an international festival, with people from every continent attending and holding 3000 people this year (the biggest so far), making it intimate enough to make close connections and have real conversations.

Attending Suncebeat 5 is a chance to really enjoy great music with a fun-loving crowd in one of the most stunning places on the planet.

If you’re looking for a dose of soul, house, hip hop or jazz funk fusion, Suncebeat will definitely deliver. Mixing unmissable line-ups with the beauty of Garden Tisno and the sunshine vibes of Croatia has made Suncebeat a must-be-at event.  You will not be disappointed visiting Croatia as the food, drink and attractions provide a genuinely worthwhile holiday and having a great party to attend as well continues the desire for the evolution of this premier event. Those that have been to Southport Weekender know that the crowd in attendance is one of the best in the world. Due to the good vibrations, people from all over the world will arrive at this festival, making it one of the most culturally diverse and friendliest crowds you will ever experience. 

The Garden Tisno is also a brilliant venue in Croatia. The atmosphere is serene, with beautiful sunsets, Funktion 1 soundsystem, fabulous lighting and great cocktails. With a gorgeous beach bar and the stunning Dalmatian Coast to play in, it really is fun in the sun. There’s Barbarellas nightclub for dancing throughout the night with the stars above, and not forgetting the truly memorable Argonaughty boat parties that absolutely go off! The line-up looks amazing this year and, judging by the amazing Southport Weekender 50th celebration held in May, those boat parties will be once again off the hook.

The summer is starting and with some amazing festivals occurring this year, the creators of Southport Weekender have set up a true gem for us enjoy in 2013! After four years of playing and experimenting, we have the scintillating SUNceBEAT 4 rapidly approaching, held for a second year at the Garden Tisno in Croatia. 

You have to hand it to the SUNceBeat crew, the artist line up this year is AWESOME! On the bill are Detroit legend Moodyman, The Mushroom Jazz pioneer Mark Farina, the truly brilliant and unmistakable Chicago house pioneer Derek Carter, the worldwide sounds of Giles Peterson, another true legend of dance music Timmy Regisford, New Yorker Joe Claussell, the mighty Kerri Chandler, the brilliant Kenny Dope, Motor City Drum Ensemble, Osunlade, Karizma, Vakula, Nicholas, Franck Roger, Atjazz, Lay-far, Jimpster, Mad Mats and not forgetting the residents who really add to the flavour of the event, Kev Beadle, Phil Asher, Gavin Kendrick, Ronnie Herel, Andy Ward, Souldynamic, Luis Radio, Sarah Favouritizm, Terry Jones, Martin Lodge, Lil Stevie, Mark Stone, Master D and Steve Butler as well as Gregory Porter playing live outside on the main stage.

You can't always guarantee the sun in the UK but in Croatia you get glorious weather, fantastic beaches, great people and a brilliant site to party together. The Garden Tisno is set up for an enchanting experience, with Funktion 1 soundsystem and excellent visuals, to allow for dancing through the night in your swimwear, enjoying the crystal waters, messing about on the beach and making friends for life. There's the great Barbarella's after hours outdoor club to enjoy, Tiki bar, restaurants and cafes too.

SUNcéBEAT, the first ever overseas adventure by Southport Weekender, occurred in Petrcane, Croatia, August 2010. Southport Weekender has been happening for over 23 years, with a famed reputation for organising quality 'soul' weekenders. The life of Southport has grown to incorporate all kinds of music that have spawned from the Northern Soul days to the cross cultural identity of unifying music. With the advent of the end of the winter weekender, we arrive at the birth of SUNcéBEAT held in a wonderful site in emerging Croatia. It was clear to me this was to be a 'must be at' event. It's always lucky to be at the start of something and witnessing the event of SUNcéBEAT brought about a new life to the Southport Weekender family.

The site in Petrcane most famously known for hosting the 'The Garden Festival' is an exquisite location perfect for the Southport Weekender vibe. Those that know about Southport Weekender are in for a real treat!! Southport overseas in a beautiful location with guaranteed sunshine and a wonderful environment is a definite winner for sure! Those that don't know about the history of the weekender and the legend that it are sure to have a life changing experience if they come to the first ever 'SUNceBEAT'.
