The manager/father who turned Tanya Tucker into one of country music's biggest stars has died after a long battle with lung cancer. Construction worker BEAU TUCKER gave up work to take charge of his daughter's acting and singing career. Tucker was instrumental in landing the singer top slots on touring country shows and also helped win her a role opposite Robert Redford in 1972 film Jeremiah Johnson. Tucker had her first hit at 13 with DELTA DAWN. She scored her first number one a year later with WHAT'S YOUR MAMA'S NAME?. Both hits came courtesy of her father and the contacts he made in Nashville, Tennessee. Tanya Tucker dedicated her Saturday night (25NOV06) show at the Atlantis Casino Resort in Reno, Nevada to the memory of her father.
