Tara Reid and Ian Ziering will be reprising their roles as April and Fin for the sequel to 'Sharknado', due to premiere on SyFy in July 2014.
The Twitter fuelled success of SyFy's Sharknado will definitely be repeated this July when the sequel is released on small screens across the US.
Ian Ziering and Tara Reid have signed on to the sequel of Sharknado.
Sharknado, in case anyone needed clarification was the monstrosity created by SyFy writer, Thunder Levin, in which a tornado sweeps into its vortex a large number of sharks. The tornado, filled with man eating sharks, proceeds to terrorise Los Angeles and it's up to one small group of survivors to destroy the swirling mass of teeth and fins.
It was never going to win any Oscars but it did gain an audience of, on its second showing, of 1.89 million viewers. Every viewer, or so it appeared, took to Twitter to express their amusement and horror at the appalling plotline, acting and general concept of Sharknado. Fans immediately requested a sequel and SyFy, within a month, confirmed they would be more than happy to oblige.
Sharknado starred Ian Ziering (Beverly Hills, 90210) and Tara Reid as the estranged husband and wife duo Fin and April. They are joined, in their quest to destroy the Sharknado by Cassie Scerbo (Make It Or Break It) and John Heard (The Pelican Brief). Reports initially suggested Reid would not be making an appearance in the sequel, however, it has since been confirmed that she will be reprising her role. Ziering will also definitely appear in the sequel, but the rest of the cast has yet to be confirmed, as TV Guide reports.

The sequel, entitled Sharknado 2: The Second One, will see the toothy cyclone descend on New York. Thomas Vitale, SyFy's executive vice president of programming, released a statement enthusiastically stating: "Sharknado was an extraordinary 'perfect storm' which captured the attention of movie fans across the globe. You couldn't go anywhere without hearing about Sharknado! By reassembling the creative team - and dropping sharks onto New York's iconic sites - we're unleashing yet another 'fin' wave of shark-mania."
Sharknado 2: The Second One is slated to air on SyFy in July 2014.
