Actor Taylor Kitsch has been offered the lead role in the remake of critically acclaimed 2011 film The Raid.

The Lone Survivor star is in final negotiations to lead the English-language reboot of the Indonesian film, which centres around an elite Indonesian Swat team which gets trapped inside a building taken over by a malicious gangster and his thugs.

The Expendables 3 director Patrick Hughes is slated to helm the movie, which is set to begin filming early next year (15).

It's not the only new project Kitsch has been linked to - he is also said to be among the frontrunners to land a leading role in the upcoming second season of hit Tv crime drama True Detective, which coincidentally, is due to wrap filming when The Raid is scheduled to start, according to
