Piper Chapman is getting a lot longer sentence in prison than she thought because 'Orange Is The New Black' has at least three more years left to run. Netflix has ordered a whopping three more seasons of its beloved comedy show, as long as creator Jenji Kohan is around to make it happen.

We're still trying to calm our excitement ahead of the season four airing in June, but now we're hyped up again to discover that it'll be a while before it's over yet. Of course, as part of the new deal, Jenji Kohan has to stay on board which is more difficult than it may sound given how strongly in demand she is at the moment.

Laverne Cox has made history (again) by becoming the first transgender woman to be nominated for a Primetime Emmy award. The 30-year-old plays Sophia Burset on the hit Netflix show Orange Is the New Black and she has been nominated for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series.

Laverne Cox is the first transgender woman in history to be nominated for an Emmy.

It has been a great day for Orange Is the New Black, the hit Netflix prison drama which has just been nominated for 12 Emmy Awards. The most-nominated comedy series of the year, "OITNB" boasts an Outstanding Comedy Series nod, which it will have to try to wrestle off the four-year consecutive winner, Modern Family.

In the individual contests, actress Taylor Schilling cinched a nod for Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her portrayal of inmate Piper Chapman.

Kate Mulgrew (Red) secured a nomination in supporting categories, Natasha Lyonne (Nicky Nichols), Uzo Aduba (Suzanne "Crazy Eyes" Warren) and Laverne Cox (Sophia Burset) were all also nominated for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series.

For all of Kevin Spacey’s machismo in House of Cards, Taylor Schilling and her cast of convicted cohorts in Orange is the New Black represent some of the strongest, most keenly developed female characters on TV right now.

With a second season kicking off to palpable hype and critical acclaim, it would appear as though Netflix have bagged two remarkable original series, not that star of the whole shebang Schilling has taken the time to sit down and enjoy her work. "I haven't seen any of the show yet actually, I haven't watched any of it," Schilling, 29, told ABC News at the Webby Awards in May.

Orange is the New Black has been given the go-ahead by Netflix to begin work on a third season. Ahead of its second season rollout - which will bow on June 6 - executives are confident enough that the prison comedy-drama will retain enough of its audience, as well as garnering new fans, for a third outing.

The show follows Laura Prepon who plays inmate Alex Vause, a thorny ex of Taylor Schilling's character Piper Chapman. It was Prepon who let the cat out of the bag on her Instagram account. Her role was reduced for season two, though she'll definitely be returning for a third cycle.

It’s almost Orange Is The New Black time and Netflix is celebrating by releasing a clip of the first fifty seconds from the season premiere. You know a show has reached cult status when even half a scene gets fans this excited. In the clip, posted exclusively by Entertainment Weekly, we see Piper get woken up in solitary confinement. She’s been in there a while (after unleashing a lot of hurt on another inmate) and it’s clearly beginning to affect her already fragile mental state.

A guard enters and she asks about breakfast, but there’s no breakfast in solitary. No breakfast for you, Piper. She then shows off some quality vomit wall art and, well, that’s the scene. That’s all of it. We get the hint that her time in solitary is coming to an end, which makes sense – keeping one of the main characters away from everyone else wouldn’t make for a very engaging plot.

Orange Is The New Black may only have one season under its belt, but regular Laura Prepon – who plays the devious lesbian lover of protagonist Piper – is already out, if reports are to be believed. Or should they be?

The show is exclusively available on the popular streaming service Netflix, which - with recent shows like Breaking Bad available, and a promising star to original programming, like the show Prepon is apparently leaving and House of Cards – has become the number one service for content.

Netflix has introduced their new viewer profile feature. The multi profiles (up to five per account) will allow individual viewers their own viewing area which will ensure they are receiving appropriate recommendations.

The tool was introduced in the US on Thursday so the internet provider would better be able to understand their audiences' viewing habits and needs. For instance a child of 6 may enjoy watching a show such as Peppa Pig whereas the 30+ adults of the household may prefer horror films. There's a distinct difference between the sorts of recommendations Netflix would provide for the two very different audiences. This latest application is intended to solve this problem.

We’re mighty impressed by Netflix’s growing repertoire of shows; not only are they putting on some brilliant stuff to catch up on (Breaking Bad fans who grabbed the one month free trial just to watch the show put your hand up) but they’re also bringing some exceptional new shows to the fore.

First there was House of Cards – the brilliant drama starring Kevin Spacey, which centred around an ousted political figure exerting his revenge on those who wronged him. It was reviewed well and watched by many, hence the arrival of Orange is The New Black – the darkly comic prison drama that follows the trials and tribulations of new inmate Piper Chapman (played by Taylor Schilling) who, in the trailer anyway, seems superb.
